Re: NEW RIDE PAULTONS 2012 ?

Another new update put on today : -

Friday 2nd December - UPDATE

Grass layers were removed this week to further inspect the rising ground temperatures at the site in the vicinity of the EDGE and Cobra rides. In this video footage taken today steam can be seen rising up from the surface...

Video is now available on the blog

^^It's not a rapids. It's odd seeing marketing like this coming from a park like Paultons. Before Cobra and Edge most members here hadn't heard of the place and now it's really starting to make a name for itself which is great to see. :)

Work has begun on the new ride ready for next season, photo however doesn't reveal if the already existing building in that area will be used or not

Theresnosmokewithoutfire has been updated partially revealing the name for the new ride! I can see possibly an 'M' as the first letter and 'A' for last, any ideas? :?

Plus official link to the site has now been placed on paultons web page

^ This.

It's pretty obvious. So this is supposedly going beside Cobra, right?

NEW RIDE PAULTONS 2012 ?

Bet it's the drop tower from the park that closed in Scotland and it will shoot out the Volcano.

^ Thats a good guess actually.....though planning permission is most probably require for something that big. I know they were granted with a LDC, but I think that allows to them to build upto 25m (80ft), the tower is about 120ft.

Or maybe a dino safari around the models taken out of the Dino Trail? Wasn't Southport's ex Dino Safari also at Loudon?

We can but hope it's Barnstormer, as that was an excellent little shot tower.

Looks like something you'd make when you first learn layer styles in Photoshop. Seems a bit childish...

Re: NEW RIDE PAULTONS 2012 ?

Still no clues on a ride type though :(

Looking at Google maps and from memory, it's quite a small space where they're building (the grassy triangle in the centre of the screen): http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=50.9475 ... src=0&z=19

Time you've taken queue line, station etc into account, I can't see this being anything with a massive footprint. Marc's suggestion of drop towery thing seems likely.

Re: NEW RIDE PAULTONS 2012 ?

Might just be coincidence however when I visited in October the building that houses Percy's bouncers and trampolines situated next to the site as shown on the map was closed to public. Potentially this could be used if they were to build a dark ride. Like everyone else though I am clueless as to what it could be. Only thing with the tower idea is that Paultons already has two of those :?

NEW POST ON PAULTONS WEB SITE :-

"Mystery egg found in shrubbery close to site under surveillance
Thursday 12th January 2012 by Paultons Park

Members of the ground staff team at the Park were astonished today when they spotted this unusually large egg nestling in the undergrowth close to the site currently under surveillance nearby the EDGE and Cobra rides. The team were carrying out their routine winter maintenance programme clearing shrubbery and planting foliage ready for the new season when they made the discovery.

‘It was large and not like anything we have seen before from the native birds & wildlife at the gardens in the Park’ reported Dawn who originally found the egg. The Livestock team were called to the site to examine the egg from a distance and were also surprised; describing that it looked almost pre-historic in size...

A protection zone has now been put in place around the area as surveillance continues"
