I really like the twisty bits at the end, with the netting, it really seems to speed round those turns. This looks so good, so jealous of anyone going to Orlando this year, its such a good addition to the coaster selection.

I would guess that the MCBR wasn't active for that run. The speed it took them final turns wasn't very 'B&M'...

Yeah, I agree with you to be fair Martyn. Those final turns look VERY snappy, but, so does Fury's on video.

Yeah, everything you think is 'B&M' went out the window with Fury.

Like, Fury is so un-B&M and I'm hoping this will be the same.

Cause even the first half looks fab as **** anyway.

Wow! This is going to be amazing if they keep it in the same condition as in the testing video :--D It looks super-fast considering it's a B&M!!

But B&M tend to test their coasters with harder wheels in the beginning, so I don't know if it'll actually run this fast. But keeping my fingers crossed!

Good news:
Mother Thompson is as ecstatic as we are!

Bad news:
This is the only new video I could find and It's noticeably slower when compared side by side to the pov.

I don't know [strike]anything[/strike] if testing the coaster with the brakes at various speeds is standard procedure (it makes sense), or if this is just them turning the MCBR on, I just thought it would accompany the more important tweet.

Yes. Very standard procedure. Ideally you want to test the trains running as quickly and as slowly as possible first - to check everything is working as you expect. Then you can dial in the trims/MCBRs to get the ride to it's 'designed' speed.

Interestingly, B&M seem to be doing the opposite to what they (and other manufacturer's) have done before. Typically they seem to do the low speed tests first ("OMG it's so slow"), then let the speed rise from there until they get to their desired running speed. Then maybe test a few overspeed runs and call the ride ready. However we've now seen both Mako and Valraven test the coaster without the MCBR on first. I wonder if this is a change in B&M's approach?

Would be interesting to see how the other B&Ms are tested this season - although Valraven and Mako are probably going to be the easiest ones to find footage of.

Or maybe I've just never paid enough attention in the past...

Remember, a train has to be able to complete the course from a dead stop on a MCBR. That will have to be tested and could be what we're seeing in that video. They're there primarily as a safety feature and a way to get multiple trains running at once, not as a way of slowing down trains, though that often becomes a secondary feature.

Surely common sense would suggest that the first runs will be run with an inactive MCBR as that's when it's most likely to stall...?

Agreed.

Also, how often do the first officially released povs/videos end up showing the ride faster than it ends up being? Slower maybe (like the launch testing on Taron), but surely they would know that showing it going faster would set people up to be disappointed and underwhelmed by the end product?

I just noticed the bit of theming on the side of each car. Also interesting that they are going with 7 cars as opposed to 8 or 9 cars.

There's some sort of media thing going on with Mako today.
Some quick facts:
*Opens June 10th
*92% of Mako is over water
*Staff have ridden the coaster
*The queue supposed to represent walking through a shipwreck

There was a lot of talk about the station and the ride score enhancing the traditional coaster experience and making it re-rideable.

The original ride score is 38 minutes long through "7 zones"

sample of ride score

There will be music throughout the ride on places like the lift hill, block brakes and station brakes.

Another shot of the station

The station will make it look like you are underwater, with a screen on the ceiling showing shadows of the mako shark and other fish.

The screen on the station ceiling

The dispatch will trigger 1 of 3 show scenes in the station that involve the screens, sound and light and the shark will follow the trains out the station, with different music on the lift hill corresponding to which scene you get.

On the final turn around there is also a possible 1 of 3 show scenes for non riders to enjoy.

I got most of the info from this video below

Love the side runners on the train, and that numinous glow from the above-head fish tank in station should offer great visuals!

I admire the effort they have put towards this project to really add narrative to the ride and to create a complete experience; I can't wait to see it all in action.
