She's 16 NOW, but, I can guarentee it wasn't filmed last week.
In fact, it was first shown back in January at film festivals. When she was still 15. So she's 15 in the film, not 16 at all. Therefore, the material you're using to be so digsustingly virginal over is in fact when she was NOT legal, making you a pedo.

Moving away from Ciall being a creepy pedo...
I saw Zombieland the other day... And safe to say that I was very disappointed with it... The start promised several zombies and gruesome deaths, but then from then on it became more of a buddy/road-trip movie than a zombie one... Indeed, if they were the only 4 survivors (doubtful, but it's what the film suggested) how were there hardly any zombies in the shops they went into? The finale was good I'll give it that but due to the BOOOOOOOOORING mid-section I'd stopped caring...
When it came out the major talking point was the cameo of Bill Murray... Obviously everyone forgot what the term actually means... Stan Lee in the Marvel films is a cameo, Murray had a BIT-PART... He was on screen longer than any zombies were... If anything the zombies had a cameo...
The film slowed down to such a crawl in the middle it simply failed to interest me anymore... And for the record (as she was discussed recently) Emma Stone is UGLY... Like someone slapped a fish...

I'll start with Amelie... I have heard of the film vaguely, but only in a "people keep going on about this weird titled froggy film" way. So as always, it's nice to come in fresh and not really knowing what to expect. It's superb, absolutely loved it. The film is so exceptionally witty, absolutely brilliant.
It's difficult to explain, but the film was just so real. Hollywood everything is "perfect". Even messy hair is perfectly formed. If you watch a documentary, you know it's real, but it's still like somebody is being intrusive with a camera. Amelie gets it right. The film looks like real life does, the characters and situations and dialogue are all real. Yet it's an entertaining film. I dunno, it's just superb, watch it! 10/10!
Next? Paths of Glory, an early Stanley Kubrick film. Again, I didn't know much about it. You can tell it's early (1953?), but it's got a neatness about it where you can see Kubrick flexing his directorial muscles. It's a long way from perfect, the acting is often bad, and the effects aren't good. It's also lacking in atmosphere and often the script seems to demand changes in character simply to reach a point in the story, rather than the story developing naturally. It's hard to define, but it's not quite right.
It was a shock though, as I was expecting a typical kind of war film, and it's not. There's a good story there, but it just never really grabbed me. I can understand why it was so well received at the time, but it just never grabbed me. Certainly not in the same way "All quiet on the western front" did. Worth watching if you want a slightly different take on Trench warfare, or like Kubrick, or want to see where Blackadder goes fourth came from. 7/10
Forced Minor_Furie to watch O Brother where art though last night. I adore this film (and he did too). It's a film I can watch over and over and love it just as much every time. A film everyone should watch, if for no other reason than "Man of countless sorrows" is the best song ever
I've got 48 of the top 50 now in my top 250 list. City of God is there, and I've got it waiting for me at home... Maybe tonight That'll make 49/50

And City of God is a pretty sweet film.... one of these films that is loved... I don't understand quite how it is loved so much, but its definitley an awesome film!

Coraline is full of win, Ollie! I actually thought it was a great film, and the concept/darkness of it was fairly terrifying. The button eyes scared me, actually, but now you've given me the idea to download it, so yay!
Just watched the Elephant Man, which is still such a tragic story and makes me cry throughout the whole entire thing. Such an incredible movie though.. Something I watch once every few years, as it's not something I can handle watching very often.

City of God is good in reasons which can only be explained by watching it...
Anyway, last night I watched a film I'd seen many clips from, lolled at the trailer and wanted to watch it as I knew it would be a fad. So, I did, and I finally watched The Human Centipede though it took me 3 attempts to watch it...
First attempt, I turned off after 15 mins as it was so boring, the acting was wooden, and it wasn't going anywhere...
Second attempt, I got so bored that I fell asleep 45 mins in (Literally NOTHING had happened up to this point, and as I would later find out, the second half would be the same)...
And then I finally watched it all again last night. The acting from the females in the first 45 mins of nothingness I likened to that of a pornographic film - wooden acting, poorly scripted, and seemingly getting nowhere, but you watch anyway as you know the best is yet to come...
...if only the best bit came.
It was 90 mins of "what was the point in that?" followed by 10 mins away from the film trying to work out what the hype was about. Quite frankly, it was awful - the only thumbs up it gets from me was the occasional glimpse at the girls breasts, which was approved of.
3/10...at best.

City of God - finally watched it. It's one of those odd films I've tried to avoid. I love horror, and I like violent films. I only like them though if they're over the top and unrealistic. I don't enjoy being faced with violent reality.
So, I've always shied away from films like this, as I find them a very disturbing reminder of the pits of human depravity. They're something that should be watched though for exactly that reason - but I find it hard.
I'd seen the scene with the kids getting caught and shot and it put me off. Such a harrowing scene, but fortunately probably the most harrowing of the film.
If it was just a straight forward "docudrama" like Schindler's List, then it would have been powerful, but lacking. The fact the direction is utterly brilliant just lifts the film incredibly. It's just so well shot, directed, edited and acted - it's brilliant. I don't like to bandy around the word "masterpiece" too much, but it was in all respects.
So it's a hard film to watch in terms of emotional upheaval, but stunning, shocking and lovely to watch. I'm not entirely sure how it left me feeling though. It didn't leave me in a particular emotional state. Just kind of blank, a bit "is that it?" It's odd to describe. Some films leave you drained, others on a high. This one, I dunno? Because of that, I don't know how to mark it. It was deliciously made, and told a superb tale - but it was lacking some final kind of OMG hook somewhere... So it's a 9 or a 10... Certainly a 10 for style, but losing a little just because it wasn't utterly mind blowing... I don't like 9.5's though... So I'll go with 10/10, just because it was such a joy to watch in terms of "cinema".

If you can work out why it is you dislike a bad film, then you will avoid those same mistakes yourself. It's a comparison thing which can only help. Sometimes you need to look past the bad bits too and look for "shine"... Though I doubt THC has any shine at all...
