RCT3 | CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (Voting Period)

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Hmm, this does seem problematic. It crashed on my computer too. Just as you described. I'm not totally sure what to say but for some reason I am inclined to blame the particle effects. Which CS did you use? I'm not sure if I have all of the right ones.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Hi people! I would like to keep all of you up to date with what I'm building but I don't know how to show a picture. Someone please tell me! Also, a link to an image resize tool would be great. Thx!

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

1 - Press F10 to take a picture
2 - Before that, rename one of your guests 'David Walsh' then press Ctrl+U to hide the menus
3 - Pictures taken from the game can be found in My Pictures/RCT3
4 - Go to any image hosting website, like servimg or imageshack and follow the instructions, most sites, however, require you to register, it is really quick so I recommend you to do it. These sites usually resize your picture to 800x600 automatically so don't worry.
5 : Copy the direct link to your picture and paste it here !

That's it !

EDIT : I advise you to set anti-aliasing to max. when taking pics, so you'll show your ride with the best graphics. Go to settings (spanner icon), visual settings (eye icon) to change the anti-aliasing level.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

^^^I just take screenshots with the print screen key and use Publisher to crop my photos. As for posting them online, I use Photobucket. The thing is, you can't post photos on the forum until you have a certain number of posts (the exact number eludes me at the moment) and even more for videos I think, although it may be the same amount.

Also, I save my photos in the "web" size so they aren't too big...mods don't like it when you post huge pics on here.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Seriously ? I think I began posting photos for Compromise when I had only fewer than 10 posts.

Thank you very much! :--D I'll try to get an image uploaded soon. Tomorrow hopefully.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Well, unless the rules changed since I became a member (which they very well may have) I think the minimum number of posts was ten. Ah well, you can try now JammyBand and if it doesn't work, just become a more active member ;-)

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Nice overall looks. I am quite puzzled by your supports on the camelback... what is that ?! The terrain seems to be quickly made but I like the color.
And it's an Intamin mega-lite/mega/giga !

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

It's actually a CS thing called 'Steel Jungle'. It consists of two beams with a horizontal beam inbetween them and 'knuckles' that round the edges. But that pic shows them from a side angle so it doesn't look right.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

I'm sure portemine has seen Steel Jungle before, but was referring to the angles from which they are protruding from the ground. It seems a bit awkward but I'll be interested in seeing what this all comes to. I agree though that the terrain seems like it was a bit rushed.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

@reddude333
NF Particle Effects
and
Moby's Steel Jungle V2
are the two CS I used so far with that entry.
Only thing I did between saving since my last session and trying to open it up was shut down the computer for the night.
The current save has the second most amount of Particle effects of the lifetime of my work on my entry. I still believe that it must be related to the Custom Support work I did. That was the last thing involving adding CS which I did.

@JammyBand The terrain for the air-time hill does look rather sharp. I recommend 'softening' it a bit. Shear edges do exist in nature but you rarely get razorblades. Supports on that hill look very strange too. I don't have an opinion on the other supports.
I recommend Google image searching coasters of the same type as yours to work out how supports are done. I did that for my entry and was depressed to find that my coaster type is often asphyxiated with steel supports in some sort of oil-rig tower. People on this forum heart realism. It's a good idea to find a compromise you're happy with. For example, hopefully my entry's setting will be very and unlikely as you'd die wandering around my theme park. Structurally it's as realistic as I can make it.

Hi, sorry ive been inactive. I am entering! :--D I'm so glad that the entering date has been increased. I have been worried that I wouldn't get my coaster finished in time. I had trouble thinking of an idea but now I have one and I've just realised it looks slightly similar to reddude333! I'll try to get a pic up soon. cool)

scw55, right I had a read the last couple of pages of your conversation with reddude, sorry I haven't been about much to help over the last couple of days, I`m working late all week this week, anyway, I have few simple things you can try to try and sort your issue.
Delete all the particle scenery, like Derek said, particle effects, have an incredibly high polygon count, this can reek havoc with low performance PC`s and laptops.
Delete all the supports, you said the trouble begun with the usage of MSJv2, this CS set and the particles together could also be a bit to much, it shouldn't be, but it could? By deleting both individually you can hopefully pinpoint the problem?
Close the park, opening the park in unnecessary, again this increases the polygon count, and because all the peeps are moving in all different directions, it can cause issues. If you have a park that is heavily built up even without custom scenery, opening it is always a bad idea.
Delete your browsing history, mine started playing up the other day, I deleted my browsing history, loaded the game and it worked perfectly.
Load a new sand box and just mess about with the parts, to see if its the parts themselves or the parts accompanied with the rest of the stuff going on.I have a rough idea of the problem as I have seen pictures of you entry, so I can either PM you my diagnosis or I can post it here, depends if you want it kept secret?
Also,
Have you changed your in game settings?
Have you seen the no svd for sid sign, when the game crashes?

You mean the data folder?

Um, I'd rather not as I spent a lot of time constructing the supports... but if it means I actually get to work some more then so be it. Did you also mean the data files?

I opened it because I was curious to see how the guests would interact with my rides ^^

Web-Browser?

Load a new sand box and just mess about with the parts, to see if its the parts themselves or the parts accompanied with the rest of the stuff going on.
I was able to save the file after I worked extensively on it. It was after the next day when I booted up it crashed instantly.

I have a rough idea of the problem as I have seen pictures of you entry, so I can either PM you my diagnosis or I can post it here, depends if you want it kept secret?
My entry looks different from the screenshots I sent you. Particle effects have been significantly reduced. Unneeded scenery/trees had been eradicated. A flat ride was added. Significant terraform had taken place too.

Also,
Have you changed your in game settings?
Nope

Have you seen the no svd for sid sign, when the game crashes?
Nope, just says 'stopped responding'.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

Right ok so how far can you get before it crashes?, can you even load the disk up?

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

The game loads fine. Its literally the individual park file that can't load. The game just freezes on the loading screen and then crashes. You can even try the file on your computer and see what I mean.

Re: CP10`s Intamin Challenge. (OPEN)

That`s pretty much what happened to me, before I cleaned my web browsing history.

I see now, I see you tried it on yours also (sorry I missed that bit when I was reading through))and it gave you issues, (was it the MSJv2?) which ever one it was it needs to be deleted. I've never known that to happen? Normally if CS crashes your game, it will do it when you click on the icon to use it, I've never known it to mess your game up before you even load the game up.
Have you deleted the files then and does your game now run back to normal?

EDIT- I too would point the finger of blame at the particle effects, although he sent me a few pictures with the particle effects in action? Having said that they are a pain, and SJ has always worked fine for me.
