"Now Showing"

Maybe you seriously need to try watching more than a handful of good films then?

I've watched a lot of good films in my time! Maybe we have different tastes or something, but many people I know think 1408 was a really good movie.

The story was only sixteen pages though? Wow.

Saw what is effectively Mitchell and Webb the movie yesterday, Magicians. It surround mitchell and webb as a magic double act until a fatal accident separates them, but they must come together to win £20,000 in an international magic contest.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I was laughing pretty much throughout the entire film, especially at a scene set on a beach. 9/10 for me

First off is Rudy, which we're watching in school. It's a football movie, so right off the bat I knew I wasn't going to be interested in it much, but to be fair, it was the best of that genre of film that I've seen. It had a lot of cheesy (can't stand cheese for those of you who don't know that) and predictable parts, but overall it was pretty good.

6.9/10

We started watching The Gods Must Be Crazy, which is pretty good and fairly funny so far, but I won't make a proper review until it's done.

Sleepover last night so watched a couple of films. Sleepovers seem to be the only time I watch full films..

Anyway, I'm agreeing with furie by saying that 1408 is terrible. It's an actual load of crap and it seemed to go on forever. It was just so boring and predictable. It was also confusing but I find most films confusing because I don't think I listen to the important bits. It's still rubbish though. :p

3/10

We watched Saw IV beforehand and it's starting to lose its touch. I really like the first one and the second ones pretty good but there's only so much you can do with a story like that and it's just getting repetitive. The death scenes were as good as ever though and it was an alright film overall.

6/10

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer

7/10.. many people don't like the F4 films, but I enjoy them. This had an interesting storyline at least, much better then some of those stupid Marvel movies out recently.

Saw II

Already knew the twist for this one because some twat thought it would be funny to ruin it. But it was still a good film and is on par with the first film. It showed more of the challenges though which was good (even though some of them were really cringe worthy). Favourite challenge having to be the opening one, where the guy has to cut his eye open to get the key, or the one with the pit of syringes.

All I can say is bring on the third. :p

Funny as I watched Saw 4 last night.

It was a good movie in my opinion, was a little confusing towards the end, but the flashbacks helped me out.

Was very gory, well more so than the other 3, but the plot made it stand out from bad slasher movies

In all 7/10

All I can say is bring on the third.

Wasn't the third one "brought on" about eighty two years ago?

Anyway, Arly, I thought number four ruined the entire thing. I didn't understand it, and I thought that the traps were pretty lame, with the exception of the one with the ice blocks near the end.

But yeah, one and two were great, three was decent, and four was pretty crap.

Watched Casino Royale (2006) on DVD last night.

I do enjoy it, as I do most Bond films but I think it is a bit too long (longest Bond film, most are under the 2 hour mark), and I'm still not keen on the title song, very poor effort there. Meh, still ok and has re-watchable value which is very rare.

3/5

I don't think Casino Royale seems too long at all... it's just right for the story it tells. Too long is being long for long's sake, like LOTR or King Kong.

I agree that being re-watchable is rare for a Bond film, but this isn't just re-watchable, it's great! Easily the best Bond because he doesn't rely on a lot of far-fetched gadgets and spin off a bunch of sickening puns and one-liners. There are plenty of great action sequences (like the parkour chase at the beginning... that's wicked), fantastic dialogue and acting throughout, and plot twists that keep it interesting to the end.
And I rather enjoyed the title song. It's my second favorite Bond theme behind A View to a Kill.

It took me long enough, but I finally watched Child's Play for the first time a few weeks ago. Growing up as a little kid I'd heard a bunch of my peers talking about how scary it was, and the idea of a killer doll kind of creeped me out, so I had always wanted to see it. Turned out to be really crap. Not scary at all, mostly just laughable and dumb. The creepiest thing about it was the doll's expression when it wasn't alive. I think if it had just been stuck with that face and hadn't been able to talk or anything, he would have been more mysterious and less human-like, and the movie would have been scarier.

I see where your'e coming from, the traps were really only there for the purpose of Rigg's test, so they weren't as thought through as others in the series.

However, I do think that the storyline was alot better than the others, if a little confusing.

Theres supposed to be six films in total :/ Nuber 5 is out october time, so we'll have to see if if gets anybetter, or just worse.

I agree that LOTR and King Kong are long films but for a Bond film Casino Royale is long. It is well over 2 hours and all the other films don't go over the two hour mark. What makes a great Bond film is all the gadgets and cheesy one-liners but its not always the case (e.g. Dr No). I do kinda feel that the film tries too hard to go against the conventions of the Bond franchise but everything else makes up for it in a way.

Also sorry but the theme tune is terrible, good song, but should not be a Bond tune I was very annoyed when they released it. I can't actually remember the View to a kill one but I don't think I was impressed by that either so you sir, have bad taste in music. THE best tunes are Live and let die (also my fav Bond flick) and Goldfinger by far.

It better be better than number four was, but I have a feeling that number four was the start of a downward spiral with these films. Man, I don't see why people have to ruin it, though I understand they made loads off of the other movies.

Big Daddy

Seen bits and peices, seemed like a cute movie. Won't go into a huge review because I was a bit pre-occipied, but yeah from what I seen, it was good.

Saw III
Like most have said. It isn't as good as the first two, but is still an okay film. The story's a bit messed up and the traps seem toned down a little.
Although the only good trap that stays true to how the first two were done was the rack.

This film is only worth seeing if you've seen the first two before otherwise don't bother or you will just end up confusing yourself. :p

I just saw Blood Diamond.

Excellent movie. Action everywhere, great performances all round, with a cool storyline. Although the journalist (Jennifer Connelly) seemed like such a pointless character, but less so as the film drew to a close.

8½/10.

Saw IV
Probably the worst Saw film out of all of them.
Rubbish story,
appauling twist at the end,
and extremely bad acting.

Not worth seeing.

4/10.

Ollie, I thought most of the traps in Saw three were worse than a lot of the ones in number one and two. Like you said, the rack was disgusting, and it made me cringe, which not a lot of movies are capable of doing. The pig one was a bit far fetched though; I don't see how Jigsaw or Amanda could've pulled that one off.

Four however, the opening trap absolutely sucked the ball sacs of monkey.

Hah, coming from someone who apparently doesn't like Duran Duran, that's funny!

Live and Let Die was a good one, but Goldfinger? That automatically nullifies anything else you have to say about my music tastes. You actually like the way Shirley Bassey screeches? You do know that they used to play her recordings at airports to scare birds off the runways, right?

Goldfinger was a good movie, but it had one of the worst theme songs.
