Why do people insist on saying "on Blu-ray".

I dont say "I watched superman... on DVD" do i?

No. It's because before Blu-ray came out DVD was the only format films were sold in.
But now that there are other formats people are starting to say it.

The same thing happened when DVD's took over the VHS. Everyone was saying that they got 'so and so' on DVD. ;)

As for difference between Blu-ray and DVD, there is quite alot. Having had the chance to compare the two side by side, the difference is very noticable. :p

I can see where he's coming from. It tells you absolutely nothing about the movie. It's like saying, "Well I watched Star Wars today on my 2007 Panasonic Flat Screen TV that's mounted 42" on the south wall of my living room. I had popcorn and coke. It was a good movie."

Watched Blades of Glory today.

Thought it was alright. There were a few moments that made me laugh quite a bit, and some bits where I was totally bored. Not a classic, but still a good laugh.

7/10.

^Blades of Glory was really good. :D

Anyway. Just finished watching Battle Royale after being told to see it by several of my friends.
Great movie. Right mix of the elements, and keeps the pace going.
Worth a watch.

9/10. :D

I say "Watched in on Blu-Ray", because if I said "Watched it on DVD" - but had watched it on Blu-Ray, I'd be lying.

When I watch a film at the Cinema, I say "Watched it at the cinema". It's to distinguish between watching a film at home and at the cinema.

It's just one of those things you say really - you tewnd not to say "I rented the film", or "I borrowed the film", more like "I rented the DVD", or "I rented the video" - for those o fus who still rent and may have a video player

So it's just a slight change in argot.

I've watched about half of series two of Primeval so far this weekend. It's rubbish! Minor_Furie likes it though, so it's been on.

Went and saw The Cottage on Thursday night, new British horror comedy thing, was actually really really good. Bit silly at some points but then saying that I guess it is supposed to be, but yh I'd say it's worth a watch.

7/10

I watched The Last King of Scotland on DVD on my little 14 inch TV. I don't get the hype, it was like, the dullest film I've seen in ages, I just didn't give a **** about what was happening.

Like, 4/10.

"Wild Hogs"

I wasn't expecting it to be as funny as it was. I saw it a while ago so I cant really remember the story...

A solid 8/10 for it.

I finally saw the movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Two very good actors, and two very good performances, very many funny scenes.

9/10.

I also saw the movie Head Over Heels yesterday on the tele, very funny movie, some parts in the first 2/3 of the movie were enough to make me laugh out loud.

8/10

An hour and 45 minutes of my life has now disappeared forever thanks to watching 10,000 BC.

Absolute crap. Total shiite. Ridiculous beyond belief. Awful dialogue. Dull characters. Boring storyline. Parts of it looked good, but some of the CGI (giant sabre-toothed tiger) was some of the worst I've seen in a long time.

I will never let a Korean choose which movie we watch at the cinema again. The last that happened, I had to sit through 300, and now this pile of tommy tank.

1/10 and that's only because some of the blokes were alright to look at.

I watched 1408 on DVD last night (rather than on video, cinema or blu-ray).

At least Gavin can claim some redeeming features, and he only wasted !:45, and not two hours of his life :p

Anyway, 1408 was tosh of the most utter kind. If you're going to have a film based around a single character, you need a damn fine actor. You also need a dam fine bit of direction and scripting. 1408 lacked all of this, and much, much more.

Dire.

^^Gavin, what were you thinking, going to see 10,000 BC, you can tell it was terrible just by watching the trailer, its a mess. Luckily I'm not going to put myself through this so called film. Anyways it did amazing in the US, what else do you expect?

Just watched Over the hedge on DVD. I still can't remember my reasoning on purchasing this a couple of months ago. Its ok but its only made watchable because of Hammy (the squirrel). Its a meh storyline and the only thing that comes close to being cute is the little kids. Now this is a kids film about animals, they should all be bloody cute. Dreamworks are so lame, they rely on having big names doing the voice work and then seem to forget that its got to be enjoyable and have some form of decent animation, especially if they want to keep up with the mighty Pixar.

Rating: 2/5, watchable, but could be soooo much better if they had actually been bothered to put a bit of effort into the script or animation.

I saw Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind earlier.

It's got an odd, but awesome storyline, where two people meet, and after a fight, wish to have their memories of each other erased, but by the time the guy (Jim Carrey) went unconscious, he changed his mind. For the rest of the film, half of the scenes are of him and the girl (Kate Winslet) attempting to resist the erasing of his memory.

Very clever indeed.

8/10.

I hadn't actually seen any trailers for it, or even heard of it. My friend called me in the afternoon and asked if I wanted to go. I had no plan so what the hell. Big mistake!

Thought it was pretty good, not your typical assassin film. I didn't know the history too well, but you can get the gist of it by watching it. I think I give it 8/10.

Watched Casino Royale (2006) on DVD last night.

I do enjoy it, as I do most Bond films but I think it is a bit too long (longest Bond film, most are under the 2 hour mark), and I'm still not keen on the title song, very poor effort there. Meh, still ok and has re-watchable value which is very rare.

3/5

"Wild Hogs"... 8/10

I agree, Wild Hogs was a nice surprise. It wasn't the most amazing movie and it didn't have an amazing storyline at all, but I thought it was pretty cute and it had some funny parts.

I watched 1408 on DVD last night *stuff* Dire

No wayy. For being based in pretty much only one room the entire time, and being based on one character, I thought it was awesome. Actually, it's probably in my top twenty or thirty movies, which is good considering the amount of movies I've seen.

Gavin, sad to hear 10,000 B.C. wasn't very good. I thought it looked decent but I haven't heard good reviews on it at all.

I have to admit, it was the absolute best film of that type I have seen. It's in a category of one mind, but it's still up there in the top of it's own list.

Maybe you seriously need to try watching more than a handful of good films then? :p

16 page story, dragged out to a full length film, written by Stephen King = shoddy bollocks!

What the hell was Samuel Jackson doing there???

I watched XXX and XXX2 the other day.

XXX is a great film. Vin Disel plays the part well and some of the stunts are awesome. If at times it is a bit unrealistic it's still great.

XXX2 sucks.
