So, Submarine.

What is it with new directors these days? They're putting some of the more matured folk to shame! Really superb stuff. A crackling script with some properly good laughs, brilliantly acted by everyone.

It seems to have gone through the Indie Comedy Flick genre and come out the other side, a little more bamboozled and with sticky-up, staticky hair, and it's definitely all the better for it. It may have lost its way a little at about the 3/4 way, and the end perhaps should've been stronger, but I'm really, really happy I saw it.

Most of all, I really loved the direction and cinematography. More of this sort of thing, please. Or other things. I'm sure he'll do them just as well.

Hooray!

I too saw Submarine today.

I really enjoyed it, it took a while to start but overall it's a excellent indie film with some rather amusing moments. It's not as funny as reviews have made it out to be but there are some brilliant moments in there. The cast were superb and the direction is really good. I'm intrigued to see what he does next.

Also watched Limitless

I really enjoyed this film, I had a bad feeling it would be a film ruined by the trailer and it really wasn't, it was very different and quirky. It was such a strangely directed film but it works so well. I think Bradley Cooper is quite a good actor too so it's nice to see him in a film like this.

Limitless was sorta meh for me. Some cool twists but the special effects were lacking. I liked the premise, but the delivery and cinematography were lacking.

Has anyone seen the previews to Insidious? The Director is James Wan. It looks like it's gonna be a pretty interesting movie. I think I'll give it a try and go see the ****.

I saw the trailer yesterday...twice :p I may end up giving it a whirl when it comes out, may not. It's a sorta "I'll watch it if nothing else is on" film.

Gave Caddyshack a go. It was ok - it had some silly comedy and slapstick in which occasionally made me chuckle, but nothing too much. Bill Murray's character was great, and I believe that was his first "big" role in a film, so it was good to see him playing a funny character. It wasn't amazing, yet wasn't awful.

6.5/10

I watched The Hurt Locker, which I have been meaning to watch for far too long now. It was better than I expected, and from the offset it provided a lot of tension. The characters were interesting, though I sometimes struggled to bond with them and the plot was limited and hardly formed a large story, however, the action, cinematography and intense scenes kept me gripped and pleased that I had finally watched it.

8.5/10

I then put the second film on: Dead Man's Shoes. I love Shane Meadows, and for some reason was yet to watch his second most famous film. I found some effects very off-putting as they seemed really tacky and cheaply put on - similar effects to those found in Windows Movie Maker. I tried to not let that put me off, and it was great to see Paddy Considine once again being brilliant in his performance. It wasn't as good as A Room for Romeo Brass and far from the amazing This is England, but still an excellent film.

8/10

I then went to the cinema and watched Anuvahood, which was supposed to be a spoof on chav culture and the "'hood" films (Adulthood/Kidulthood and a bit of 4.3.2.1 too), but it was hardly that at all, just a story about **** sters (wanna-be gangsters) and their run in with drugs. It tried to be funny with slapstick, bad puns and insults, but it really wasn't. It was a shame as I really enjoy the UK grime gangster films such as the hoods and 4.3.2.1, so I thought a spoof of these would be great. It was simply awful though. Awful.

3/10

I then watched Limitless - it was very good and the story had some real promise and was very gripping early on. Admittedly, the story slipped near the end and became quite boring, but it certainly was watchable and partially interesting. I recommend it as it was quite good.

Limitless

It was enjoyable, the camera tricks got a little old and they could have done more with the story. Beginning started off really good, then it seems as if they just got lazy.

Sucker Punch tomorrow!

^ Sucker Punch even caught my attention, and I don't usually like movies like that. I probably won't go see it at the movies, but I'll probably watch it eventually. It looks like it could be confusing but it might be good.

I've read bad reviews about Sucker Punch so won't be bothering to go see it. Maybe when it's on TV in a couple of years.

Personally I think its gonna suck, and rotten tomatoes in my eyes is always wrong about the "summer" action type movies, like Suckerpunch. Its all a bunch of people who think they are movie critics so they have to blast a lot of movies, even if they secretly like them, they don't want to get flamed at. I'm seeing it for free, so I don't really care if it sucks.

Suckerpunch

Better than I thought it would be, the different themes so to say fit well, the girls, minus Vanessa make me hurl Hudgins, were good lookin, and there was enough action. Wish it would have been R, could have done a lot more with it.

Saw Paul last night finally, and I mist ask is there anything that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost do that isn't ****ing amazing. I loved it so much, so funny, and I'd rank it with Shaun of The Dead as their best stuff.

9/10
