Dallas, TX April 27, 2021 – Family fun will rise to new heights at Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie with the installation of its new rollercoaster, The Prairie Screamer. This 87- foot high, 50 mph coaster will open to the public in fall of 2021 and will be the latest addition of exciting activity offerings in the Trader’s Village entertainment portfolio.
“Providing a memorable family experience has always been top priority at Trader’s Village,” Chris Kenney, General Manager for Traders Village, Grand Prairie stated. “When we decided to expand our amusement district, we wanted to add a family-oriented ride that was popular for all ages – something that wasn’t too scary and had a low height requirement so everyone could enjoy! We are counting down the days until we can see families experience the Prairie Screamer over and over again when they visit our grounds.”
Purchased by Trader’s Village in October of 2020, the rollercoaster, which was originally installed in Ontario, CA at the Scandia Amusement Park, was disassembled and shipped to TX. It has taken 10 months to fully refurbish the ride. The highest drop measures at 80 feet and lasts just under two minutes with two trains holding up to 10 riders.
The Prairie Screamer will join other popular rides at Trader’s Village including the Village Vortex, Pharaoh’s Fury, Star Dancer, Freddy’s Fender Bender, traditional Carousel and much more!
The 160 acre open-air marketplace is located on Mayfield Road, just off Highway 360 in Grand Prairie. Admission is free and parking is $5 per car. All day ride passes are $13.99 and once inside, events – including concerts – are free. While at Trader’s Village, visitors can shop from thousands of vendors, all while enjoying numerous family friendly activities including seasonal festivals and events.
