What's new

New attractions at Paultons Park

Talking about capacity at Paultons - I believe we may be making a category error when we say that Paultons doesn’t ‘need’ a high capacity ride. The reason queues are low there is because (unlike say, Merlin 👀) they have exceptional maintenance standards and they have a lot of attractions spread throughout the park that mostly remain open throughout the day. When we go there we know we will be getting on everything, regardless of how busy it is (and it was very busy on our visit). Also, there’s the question of future-proofing - if Paultons’ future is as bright as many of us believe it to be then the higher capacity the better in terms of future guest numbers.
That is exactly what I am thinking.

With this new (potentially signature) coaster, it has the potential to really put the park on the map as much as Peppa Pig World did or what Nemesis did for Alton Towers which will attract higher crowd levels than what they're currently getting.

I would say that it should be as high capacity if not higher rollercoaster as the ones they currently have at the moment with at least two trains. I'd say 1000 pph is the minimum they should be aiming for.

I'd also be saying that it'd need supporting family and thrill attractions alongside including a major water ride to help ease the pressure around the new headliner.

The new attractions including the coaster would ideally need to be designed to cope with a significantly increased amount of people than the park currently have as of now. If the capacity isn't high enough, I think the park will see increased queues all around the park and very high queues for the new signature coaster.

I feel attacked by this lol 😂. I jest of course but Paultons is my local park and it is a fantastic day out for lots of reasons other than peppa pig world. When I was last there at the beginning of September it did feel like a bit of a shift, as Cobra, flight of the pterosaur etc had consistent queues of 15-20 mins. So it does feel like something slightly more thrilling is what is needed. Regardless of the ride type, I’d like to see a custom layout instead of the off the shelf designs they’ve built so far.

"I'm not sure, but perhaps they would have a longer layout with three trains."

I was wondering about the maximum number of visitors, and I was surprised - there does seem to be potential for many more. Just out of interest, I measured the car park compared to Alton Towers, and they're way more similar than I thought. Paultons is about 250m x 180m, whereas Alton is about 340m x 150m, not counting overspill car parks. Food for thought, considering how many high-capacity B&Ms the latter has.

I still think a Gravity Group woodie like Wood Express or Wooden Warrior is the perfect fit.
  • 1.2m height restriction (1m accompanied)
  • 2 trains for throughput
  • Coaster type they don't currently have
  • Airtime machine that they don't currently have
  • Natural progression to bigger and more thrilling coasters if they go down that route

I love the idea of a woodie coming to Paultons Park.

I believe the main barrier would be noise however allegedly, it has been the original coaster choice for Tornado Springs before Storm Chaser.

I can see it coming although for 2026, it is heavily hinted that it's their first upside down coaster. I think it's possibly the coaster after 2026.

I could be wrong and it'd be something like Mineblower at FunSpot America. That is definitely within the height (25m) and has an inversion which appears to be in Paultons Park's brief.

One coaster I think would work well would be a clone of Copperhead Strike at Carowinds. It's not too high (also 25m), has multiple inversions and it's not too fast which would work well for the growing target audience.

I don't think the noise would be too much of an issue, the park has significant trees in between the area and residential buildings, of which there aren't many.
Agree it could have an inversion like Mineblower though.

Copperhead is way too big a jump imo. Can't see them getting anything with more than 2 inversions anytime soon and would be too aggressive for the vast majority of the visitors Paultons targets currently.

I remember Cobra was quite controversial at the time, planning-wise, but I was hoping that it was just the southern part of the park. However, I didn't realise a woodie was considered for the Storm Chaser site - that's not so promising.

Does anyone else think they could have another big coaster on the Critter Creek site and the land next to it? That strikes me as the next possible site for one, with Critter Creek rethemed to something else.

Possibly, I know it is an area they might look at retheming eventually, maybe when they retheming the surrounding area.

It is an area lacking in themed and more substantial rides.

I always thought a Mack Powered Coaster would fit the park and be a worthy successor to Cat O Pillar.

Looking at reviews and discussions about Copperhead, I'm not so sure.

I'd have agreed before the SuperFans event but now, I don't know what would be too aggressive for Paultons other than being too high. Cyclonator also certainly broke the barriers for that back when Tornado Springs opened. I believe the park is growing to cater for a growing up audience and wishes to keep it coming back.

Plopsaland did Anubis which is higher and faster than Copperhead although less inversions. Copperhead has the lapbars which would help. I would argue it's as Family Thrill as Abyssus at Energylandia. At the time of Anubis, Plopsa was in a similar position to Paultons Park.

In all likelihood, I think it's going to nicely surprise us. I doubt it will be Copperhead however something like Mineblower does sound exciting.

Meh, i just have a feeling that Paulton's are going to take us by surprise when they release the plans for the Viking area during the 2025 superfans event (Which im obviously going to).

Some little updates, paultons have filed anouther trademark for "Paultons park lodges".

Hmm what do you think they mean by lodges, I have no clue what that would be, like actual lodges or maybe a hotel themed to nature, I'm not sure, also that main street looks quite nice mixing in with the cafe at the entrance.

Nice to see work on the log flume is underway.

2025 superfans event?
Yes like they did this year, I'm sure they would do it again....

So earlier in the year they filed a trademark for "Paultons Park Resort", now with this one also it looks like a hotel of some form is more likely on the horizon.

It could be something like the lodges at Alton or Legoland, considering there are a few normal hotels near the park maybe we could a more unique experience, you could fit some in that go-cart plot 🤔

If they could do Peppa pig themed lodges i think that would sell out, fancy nature ones would also work well. They dont need a big hotel but an expensive experience one with a dozen lodges could work well.

ISTG if this whole Viking area was a lie and the whole time it was a Viking themed lodge I might actually die.

😮 Mabey the tease of the logo going upside down means the Viking lodge flips during the night ;)

Im hoping maybe 2027 or 2028 hotel, and this is the beginning of that.

I wouldn’t get too excited over allat if I were you, they’re filing them just to have them. No accommodations in the pipeline, just don’t want some local buisiness trying to mooch off their brand name.

If anything, accommodation is a very long way off and likely in the earliest of stages/discussions. The trademarks are likely to future proof themselves.

At the moment, their focus is on the theme park.

A wooden coaster would fit Paultons perfectly. The south needs a woodie, the closest is Margate but that’s still a 3+ hours drive.

Agree totally, hopefully a GCI. Gravity group coasters seem to get rough very quickly so an airtime packed coaster would be ideal for Paultons. Not bothered about inversions as thats all the UK seems to have coaster wise. There has been no confirmation of the viking video relating to a coaster having an inversion, so a woodie could well be on the cards.
