Music Recommendations

Am I the only one that really likes 21st Century Breakdown. Admittedly, if you are looking for a punk album you will be dissapointed because most of the songs are piano driven ballads but it is fantastic music and Billie Joe Armstrong still remains to write a song I don't like.

Bloody Hell! even my mum likes Greenday.

Last Night on Earth, Viva La Gloria, Peacemaker and the title track are my favourites.

Yes, this may be the reason why it doesn't appeal to the punk market? Just possibly?

^ They do though. They appeal to the mainstream as well though which is a testament to their song writing abilities. Then again I like anything catchy enough.

It's rare you find anyone who loves their punk stuff who likes American Idiot. If you do, you tend to find that it's people who don't really like punk as such anyway but prefer more mainstream "rock" :)

I'm in that category, I liked about half of American Idiot and generally speaking hate punk (unless it's from when I was a youngster :) )

I am once again going to recommend Finders Keepers by YouMeAtSix simply because I can't stop playing. It is instantly catchy and just a really happy song.

Also Kyosuke Himuro feat. Gerard Way - Safe and Sound

I am so glad to hear new material from the Gerardmeister because it really has been way to long a wait and I am gagging for the new MCR album. This song is fantastic. As you will have guessed it is a collaboration with a Japanese Guy. Gerard doesn't come in until 1.15.

In Case of Fire and My Passion also deserve a mention.

I've just been flicking through the new Enter Shikari album. Well, i've been flicking through the clips on iTunes, because its not out for a month yet. I'm pleasantly surprised actually! I liked the first album, but its proper marmite stuff, you either like it, or you absolutely despise it. I reckon the new album might get a few more people onboard, because its a little more listener-friendly. Its still got a massive clash of hardcore and electronic music though, but there's a few mellow tracks in there, and more sung vocals than screamed and growled ones. I was worried they'd lost the edge after they released "We Can Breathe In Space..." because that sounded awfully poppy and weak, but it seemed it was just a blip, and they do look back to their normal selves on Album #2, albeit they've progressed, and dare I say, grown up.

I really like the new greenday album! Especially the song 'know your enemy' which is doing well in the top 10 charts at the moment. :)

Listened to the new Coldplay live album LeftRightLeftRightLeft, and it's pretty good, although Clocks, wihich I thought would be best, is quite bad, and Hardest Part, a good studio song, is too slow and is crap on the live album. The drummer, Will Champion, sings the B-side of Viva La Vida, his voice is odd, but it's still not bad. Martin need not bother singing Fix You, the crowd sing enough of it for him, and I like the extra line he adds. Strawberry Swing, soon to be released as a single, is done ok, but the highlight is Viva La Vida, you have to hear it to believe it, Oh My God The Noise, The Bloody Noise!!!

It's a free download of their website, so if you even slightly like them, you should get it.

Still Green Day's album sucks, even Slipknot's last album is better, and thats saying a lot!

I've pre-ordered 'Common Dreads' (Enter Shikari's new album) and I can't wait :D. I love Take to the Skies, its one of my favourite albums, but I agree with Rob that it is a marmite album, everyone I know bar 1 or 2 hate it! I've also seen Enter Shikari live, was messy!

Juggernauts is really growing on me, I wasn't too fond of it at first, but give it a listen.

^That's the first time i've been able to listen to that track fully, and it is genuinely a great song. Really catchy stuff, and while it is a little more radio-friendly than the first album generally was, its still got the energy and the unique touch to it.

Do only chavs like electronic music then Dave?

I recommend everyone checks out the 16 Bit Lolitas Downbeat mix of Oceanlab's On A Good Day, lovely relaxing track with an awesome piano section in the middle.

PS - I've just listened to that video, and the quality's bloody terrible! I genuinely can't be bothered finding another though.

Love

Rob

The songs still not recordered :(

So here's a live version of it. Crystal Castles - Baptism

Juggernauts is a pretty good track but I think I prefer the first album.

I found a studio version of This Broken Soul by Korn which until recently was a song that could only be seen in very old live videos from before the got signed.

This captures that feel from the first album because it was written in that era. Spine tingling stuff indeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs-n9_7wwJA

For a happy song check out If I Had A Coin by The King Blues.

Freemasons ft. Sophie Ellis-Bextor : Heartbreak Make Me a Dancer.
