CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - What's Next?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

It annoys me that he used camera editing for the effect.
I get impressed by things you can actually do in-game. It feels like by relying on editing he's produced a video project rather than a RCT3 project. Feels cheap.

I like everything else. And it is a nice surprise. But...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Great concept there, CC. :)

Also, I've been wondering, what was the title of that song you used for the video of Woodcutter's Revenge? Not that I would steal it or anything............

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Unfortunately, I don't believe the song is available to the public. I had the pleasure to stay at the Tanjung Rhu resort in Malaysia, where they gave out free copies of a CD named "Ria Rhu", which was a collection of Malaysian music tracks. The track used in Woodcutter's revenge is (not wooden :--D ) but a song called "Kekiash" as well as around seven others.

You can download two of them here: http://mp3juices.com/search/rhu/2 (Rhu Barba and Kekiash, which are my two personal favourites)

However if you want the album, it might be on ebay, but not amazon. Unless you go to the hotel I cannot see how you could access it sadly.

Hope this helps though!

Stay tuned! I desire to create another one soon...

Anyway, the video should be up not this, but next weekend unfortunately, so sorry about the wait. But it will be worthwhile....

What does everyone think? Hopefully I'll be initiating another slingshot soon...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

I like it. Looks a really fun ride! I still love the idea of it.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

I prefer it to the examples you gave of other people's slingshot's coasters.
I think the 'turn back' section was fiendish. I sincerely thought "Oh dear... it's going to clip". But I was pleasantly proved wrong.

I think it's a shame you don't want to use Custom Supports. The layout itself is stellar.
Effective use of default scenery as well.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Highly technical coaster. I enjoyed it quite a lot. Very lengthy but full of thrills.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Thanks for the positive and complimentary feedback! I do admit that the ride could be significantly shortened , which I'll be doing for my next slingshot.

Remember that although I'd love to use custom supports to embellish my work, I am currently unable to, but I'll try once more tonight :--D

Where are steel jungle and steelworx in game anyway? Thanks.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

They are under scenery and walls. Also, I didn't mean to seem negative about the length. It was actually a good thing.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

SteelJungle gets taking used to. But it's very intuitive. More freedom than Steelworks. But steelworks offers hide supports and Supports for Cobras/Vertical Loops.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

Some creativity with the layout and overall ideas. I like the underwater tunnel for example.

I recommend you Meerkat's landscape tutorial, I find it tremendously helpful when it comes to terraforming and foliage skills. ;)

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

Yeah, the layout seems good from what I can tell but the area could definitely benefit from some landscaping help. For example, the cave entrance should probably be better covered up (less square). Also, if you used terrain blocks for the cave ceiling that is okay but you should try to better disguising the top of it because it seems too flat and barren.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

Thanks for the comments! Remember, the landscape's bareness is due to the fact that the coaster is still unfinished...I'll post the improved tunnel once it's complete.

And portemime, could you post the link to that video please? I can't seem to find it...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

Thanks! That's really helpful....I generally neglect realism, but now I see how naive I've been all this time...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Good news!

Hurrah! Finally I've succeeded at installing CSOs into rct3, after constant failures and futile pleas for help which probably did nothing but confuse you.

The reason for the failures lay in the unzip tool utilised....because it was simply useless...and didn't actually unzip the files. So a friend notified me about the windows 7 unzip tool and with a little bit of further tinkering, I got it to work....

Here are the sets I have successfully downloaded:

Weber Ice Cavern
Steelworx
Steel Jungle v1 and v2
Weber's stone creations v1
Weber's black walls (mgp)

However, some are refusing to work, notably:

ShyGuyrockset
Weber Tree mega pack
Weberanimated ride event doors

Does anyone know why they might not be working? And any recommendations would be gratefully accepted. Howdo you do it?

And what about CTR downloads...are they slightly different?

So..this means that I'll be creating many new projects of far improved standard soon, as well as full screen videos. Here's my plan of action...

Next week- Relentless

Winter/Arctic mine train in the Frostbite park

Water coaster

Mutiny complete remake

Thanks all! :--D

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

I use Winrar myself since it deals with rar files (I can't remember when I did) and all zip types.

I use Shyguy's rocks and they work fine.
I guess this is an endorsement for WinRar.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Relentless

I'm not sure what your problem really is. One issue might be that you just aren't looking in the right folders in-game. For example, Weber's Tree Megapack is located in foliage and Weberanimated ride event doors is located in the ride events section of scenery. Not all CS you install will go to walls so check the different areas to see where they showed up. Sometimes they will even be in shops and stalls etc. As for opening .rar files, I use "7 Zip" and it works like a charm.

As far as CTRs go, as long as you follow the readme and put the files in the right folders, they will (usually) work in-game with a few exceptions I have run into.
