CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - What's Next?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Do you enjoy the enigmacy or should I just tell you? I'm starting to consider it myself

^Anyway, Hulk isn't floorless, but is both awesome and the only launched B&M to date. It's something pertaining to the launch which is special. :--D

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

The element is courtesy Shambhala, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

The element indeed resembles that of Shambhala but I like the subtle nuances that set them apart. The only disappointing bit so far is the long straight sections of track...they seem bland if you ask me. You'll notice, barring launches and break runs, there are virtually no straight sections of track on my coasters.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

I kind of agree with the straight track bits. I rarely ever use them in less I need to subtly push an element further out.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

They were initially intended to be tunnels, but I guess I'll change them into bunny hops now. The launched lift hills however, are rather special and are part of the unique aspect of this ride, which I'll reveal in my next update....

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Tunnels would be fine if done well...don't compromise your design too much if you don't want to. I just think it would be prudent to consider cutting down on long straight track sections. I have no quarrel with the launched lift though :-)

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

I agree that tunnels or other themeing can help make straight section more interesting. I do it myself.

If it compromises the layout by the obliteration of straight bits, don't do it. Work with it.

Update!

Another launch? What could this be...?

Replaced both the flat sections, and the result is far superlative :--D

I'll reveal the enigma next time, unless somebody guesses first!

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

The small airtime hill was a good replacement for the straight track. You might want to put some cs launch pieces over the chain at some point. Keep up the good work!

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

May I suggest Spice's Trees as your next CS set, they are wonderful, huge, and extremely realistic. Sure better than the in-game pieces, which while there are some OK ones, take up too much space for such little quality, all of Spice's trees fit on one grid plane.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

It's not a vertical launch, but keep guessing! (Great idea though)

Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm, and Amber should be on youtube (Maybe accompanied by a new intro and outro) to reveal the enigma. I *Should* finish it tonight.

^As much as I'd love to, my computer seems inert to CS and CTR's,and I've tried many times....

I said:
I know this is becoming repetitive...but I've had some problems downloading.

Since my coasters a terrain hugger, I'm not particularly concerned about supports, however what I do need are Weber's stone creations and possibly his Ice Caverns at: http://velvetskyemusic.com/RCT3_files/Rct3_Land_a.html

Here's what I did:

-Clicked the download/install button (do I need to do anything before?)
-The file was successfully downloaded, but oddly it's an Icananimate file (which supposedly opens with an animation software but doesn't)
-Appears on my downloads. Cannot find files in the game (where are they anyway?)

Is this because rct3 is in the F drive
rather than the C drive? (Or something like that). With steelworx...I'm not yet ready to commence fiddling with my hard drive.

Please help!

And later:

I tried your advice (CP10)(Thanks a lot! ) and it seemed to work. Rather than Winzip I used NCH software's free 'Express zip' and pressed extract to the desktop (which was seen in a tutorial video). Then I trialed placing it within the program files (x86), which was thankfully successful. However, I've been so far unable to find them within the game.

Can anyone help? Since I'll be needing steelworx/ steel jungle for Project amber...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

I can't think of anything that doesn't abuse video edit to create an illusion of a trick track.

Inverted launch?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

^There's no trick track involved, and the distinguishing feature is not in the launch either. It's more about the direction...you'll find out next week. :--D

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Backwards Inversions?

It's definitely hinting at going backwards anyway

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

^Congratulations! We almost have a winner....it does indeed incorporate backwards inversions.

This is because Project Amber is a Slingshot coaster, and is essentially a shuttle which initially rolls back. Project Amber in fact features 5 launches and this is why certain elements seem a little peculiar.
To simplify things:

1: Weak launch out of the station
2: Launched Lift hill launch and subsequent rollback
3: Launch in tunnel
4: Launched lift hill again
-Rest of layout
5 Reverser section launch to gain sufficient height, before rolling back
-Rest of layout before braking on the launched lift hill.

Or like this:

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

^Haha...although not made by CoasterCrazy, it was a good coaster :-P

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

^I wish I could claim I did :--D...but it is a wonderful concept, along with its equally awe inspiring sequels:

This one's got a rather astonishing surprise....

Project Amber will be filmed tonight and uploaded sometime this week. Stay tuned!
