CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - What's Next?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

To answer your question, I actually have a couple questions for you. Why exactly did you decide to sink everything into a giant pit? And secondly, are you deciding to steer clear of CS for this project?

Although I`m currently not on RCT as at this moment in time I don`t have access to my desktop, I hope to be back making rides soon.

This is an interesting little ride, I have never been able to pull off these sort of rides, I have been meaning to create an indoor log flume (sort of like Valhalla) for a while now.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

^^Eventually, I plan to cover the "giant pit" with terrain tiles. This is meant to be an "evolution" of Disney's many Pirates of The Carribean water rides.

As for CS...I'll try to do the best I can without them, the, perhaps add some, but as for now, my HP laptop seems to disagree and ends up discovering a problem at the last minute.

Thanks CP10, you now have another subscriber!

Talking of youtube, here's my favorite uploaded video for everyone on CF to see and make comments a little more special! :--D

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Some of you might have seen my competition entry (so far) for the mini monsters contest...but what else is in that park?

Unfortunately the quality will need to be tinkered with next time...

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Coming soon....

Mutiny, a B&M dive machine utilizing the terrain of a lake and surrounding area! Pictures coming soon.

And with filming...is it best to film full screen or un-click the full screen button and then record?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Thanks! However, the link isn't showing up....
My channel is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/CoasterCrazy014

I'm on windows 7, however upon entering the game, the screen is partitioned into two black sections "sandwiching" the actual game display. Whilst when I unclick the full screen button, the window that pops up instead is full screen....I guess I'll just experiment instead!

Its almost finished!

So what does everybody think? Would it be greatly improved by the presence of steelworks?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

I think it needs Steel Jungle, not Steelworx. Agree on the misty hole. I definitely see the inspiration from Oblivion. Nice job. Just please add custom supports?

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Yeah, I understand that a lot of you don't feel comfortable with the custom supports (specifically Steel Jungle) but I promise that the only way to get better is to practice with them. Soon enough, it will be easy as pie and you will even find ways of putting creativity into your supportwork.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Thanks everyone! I'll be uploading a few videos soon and will subsequently attempt to download steel Jungle!

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

Dive Machine supports, I've found, are insanely difficult to accomplish with Steelworx because of the slightly wider trains.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread

wing coaster supports as well. i tried and failed miserably. i credit that failed coaster for the closure of bluegrass boardwalk, my first park project.

This time, rather than religiously following the terrain, I've chosen to do something unique and innovative, but need CS to complete! Coming soon...

A note on my 'rct3 future'

So, I decided to start afresh with project amber, however, this does not necessarily mean that all my previous creations will remain mere files; in fact I plan to finish and film a few of my favourites (Valley Blaster, Mutiny and more), and also plan to create coasters adjacent to the ones which I made during the competition.

The CS dilemma!

From the CFWR thread...

I know this is becoming repetitive...but I've had some problems downloading.

Since my coasters a terrain hugger, I'm not particularly concerned about supports, however what I do need are Weber's stone creations and possibly his Ice Caverns at: http://velvetskyemusic.com/RCT3_files/Rct3_Land_a.html

Here's what I did:

-Clicked the download/install button (do I need to do anything before?)
-The file was successfully downloaded, but oddly it's an Icananimate file (which supposedly opens with an animation software but doesn't)
-Appears on my downloads. Cannot find files in the game (where are they anyway?)

Is this because rct3 is in the F drive
rather than the C drive? (Or something like that). With steelworx...I'm not yet ready to commence fiddling with my hard drive.

Please help!

And later:

I tried your advice (CP10)(Thanks a lot! ) and it seemed to work. Rather than Winzip I used NCH software's free 'Express zip' and pressed extract to the desktop (which was seen in a tutorial video). Then I trialed placing it within the program files (x86), which was thankfully successful. However, I've been so far unable to find them within the game.

Can anyone help? Since I'll be needing steelworx/ steel jungle for Project amber...

Thank you so much in advance! :--D

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

If you ever do a project where you wish to put some 'floors' down, and they make the default supports disappear, I strongly recommend using Steel Jungle V2.
There's Steelworks which is 'less work', but it's really restrictive the supports.

I started using Custom supports and I have never gone back. It also lets me "slow down" so I spend time and care working on one project, which means I don't burn through my list of "to-build" coasters so fast.

One downside, is when you start becoming dependant on custom supports, it does alienate certain coaster types which are hard to use with. I'm being grieved by a Phallic Coaster at the moment, and this heartline coaster I just cba trying to custom support. I am also terrified of trying to build a woodie coaster.

Re: CoasterCrazy's rct3 development thread - Project Amber

Hulk is the only B&M Flooreless I know with a launched hill. Not because I know practically everything. It's because I know very little.

As you know I have very partial to utilising banked ascending/descending curved track myself in a creative manner.
