Another Alton Fire - Breaking

Reading what Furie said on TT, it seems I am not the only one thinking that this was to keep Secret Weapon Six secret (that was a joke by the way. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't cause a fire for the sake of keeping a project hidden)!

It does sound suspicious the more I think of it, maybe they DID do it! (Before anyone says anything, I am not really suggesting they did it.)

Furtunataly, the cars are kept in Towers Street overnight, so they were not damaged.

The scary thing is, I was there that day, and if that had of caught fire then...

The SKyride is already the scariest ride in the park, and now with two fires in such a small amount of time...

^No nothing else is closed, just the skyride.

It was a very isolated fire, only the station was affected, although Rita was closed the day after while the building containing the mechanisms was inspected for damage.

I think they need to take this oppourtunity to completely rebuild the ride. Pylons and all.

It's in a very sorry state.

I took this from the rocks by the entrance to Ug Land.

As well as this, the cable over the valley is touching the trees. Either the fire has done this or Alton have moved it down a bit.

Can't believe that I was in that building a few hours before that happened, it's unrecognisable now, the fire must have been huge!

Be surprised to see that open again in the next year, probably 2011 will be more realistic. They have had two fires now so they will want to spend some time making sure it wont happen again.

This is such a shame, when I go to the Towers I use the Skyride 4-5 times.

It's in such a devastating state.

No way did the park did this on purpose. If they wanted to keep the wraps on the project, they could have just said the skyride was broken without torching the whole building.

I am not saying Alton did it but, fires mean ££££.
That's why they would'nt just close it, insurance will pay itself.

The insurance will pay for a rebuild, but it won't pay for for everything Alton lose out on.

Then there's the increase in premiums too...

If Alton was a struggling park, then maybe you could say that it was deliberate. However, Alton make money hand over fist (especially the last two years) and they have no need to act illegally to cover costs - they have the money in the kitty to do whatever they like.

I think you'll find insurance money is only good if you're not actually planning on rebuilding what is destroyed.

Why do people keep saying Alton did this on purpose. Of course they didn't.
Nor did they do it to keep SW6 quiet.

I think it's because it originally sounded like it was a very small fire.

That could theoretically have been a fake announcement from the park just to shut down the skyride to prevent SW6 from being photographed during construction.

Now that the extent of the damage is known, this was obviously not some hoax or tiny fire.

Nobody believes Alton purposely did this, but it does fit in place like a jigsaw.

Figure of speech, I mean the turn of events { Skyride Fire } fits perfectly in place to become suspicious, people will speculate wether Alton purposely did this... simply because of where & when it happened.

Human nature speculation people keep on speculating on all aspects and most are looking way way to deep into it. It is just a freak event yes it happened in a prime place near to "SW6" but there's no need for Alton to torch the station to stop people tacking pics of the site or to make it more undercover. As said before if they wanted to stop people going near they could just close off the area for abit not torch apart of the infrastructure.

Didnt you think that people might get suspicous about it. When they opened Blivvy they closed the whole sector. And that isnt over the top is it. They might need to do something to the skyride while keeping SW6 UNdEr rApPs. I have seen pictures and it looks like they didnt do it on purpose but I do deserve my own opinion.
