Another Alton Fire - Breaking

But it was in an isolated area, it couldn't have spread any further than that. There has to be more to it...

Fire can spread very easily.

If there's a bit of wind, then it could easily spread to the toilets next door, or over the trees to the Burger King.

There's also a danger of the cable coming down, which could cause damage to other structures in the park.

To be honest, there's just so much that can possibly go wrong it's unreal.

Then again, after the fire in Forbidden Valley, they got a new ride and a totally rethemed cable car system out of it... ;)

I know you ran your own theme park Erol, and it makes you an expert in the finite running of a smaller park like Alton, and expert in electrics and an expert in fire management and arson. So I shall bow to your superior knowledge here and admit that it was arson for all the benefits it has given Alton. ;)

^ LOL You should, especially since my Dad is an electrical engineer :p

Welll, I can happily say that we never had a fire

I was an electrical engineer for two and a half years and I've never had a fire either! Hurrah for us all! :D

Maxi-Minor_Furie met a fireman at the Nursery last week too actually. As well as telling them the importance of ringing a fire alarm and leaving the building quietly and calmly - he also said that arson is no more difficult than barbecuing a Tesco value burger and anyone can do it in a safe and controlled fashion. True, I heard it from a three year old! :D

See, just like a simple BBQ. No way that fire could have possibly jumped six feet to the toilets or burger king ;)

Maybe hes quick off the marks or just good at monitering news and such lol.

Whilst all fires are unfortunate, AT must be considering themselves lucky that this fire happen at this specific Sky Ride station, if it were any of the other two, we could be talking about major destruction.

And obviously this is a big shame after how much money they spent on getting the ride 'new' for 2009. But I'm sure it will all get sorted and will reopen for the start of 2010, probably themed with the new Ug-land theme.

Up untill this fire, how often had the Sky ride been open this year?

Everyday as far as I'm aware.

It's going to be quiet horrible to see this in person tomorrow. But as Martyn B said, I'm thankful that this didn't happen at the other two stations.

The photos of the actual fire look bad as well, I couldn't believe the size of the fire and the damage it caused when it was on Midlands Today Wednesday night.

I can not find any news on this.

Edit. You just posted the same time as me.

I hope none of the new things were in the station, they are not having much luck with it.
When I went on the 23rd July, you could see the burnt station and what could possibly have been a seat thing

There are pictures out there now.

I was under the impression that this was a small fire, but the whole station building was completely GUTTED by the fire, leaving only some structural steel.

The more I think about it now, the more it sounds suspicious.
Did this fire perfectly take out the Skyride station and only the skyride station?
