What's new

Another Alton Fire - Breaking

Well, I was there yesterday and rode the skyride 3 times, and I'm in shock that it's caught fire AGAIN.

I really do hope they rip it out and start again, I mean, it has been there for bloomin ages...

I'm thinking what furie and Neal are, ironic it happens soon before we expect to see more progress with the new coaster!

^ Yeah they blatantly burnt the sky ride station down so no one could take pictures!

Although it would be quite cool if the integrated the sky-ride station burning down into the theme of the new coaster some how

In a way its a shame there was not a strong wind, Charlie and the Chocolate factory could have gone as well.

In all honesty I dont see why people think this was done on purpose, as I said they have just spent a lot of money on it and know how many people use it. Families now have a long walk with young kids.

For me I hated it and tried not to use it, the last time I went on it we crashed.

Funny how this times well with that coaster getting built directly behind it...

Ah, look on the bright side, atleast it wasn't Nemesis.

That is why companies don't set fires on purpose!

I don't think people understand just how horrendous fires are once they get going.

You see the remains and think "that's pretty bad", but you never quite get the idea of just how dreadful it is in full flow.

I was being flippant before and would never suggest truthfully that a park would deliberately cause this kind of thing. Fire is far too unpredictable and destructive to risk it - unless you're going for a complete destruction of everything you own.

I think your looking to deep into it.

Theres gona be faults and faliours in any park. Yes this is rather odd that it happens to the same thing but it has happend. It would lok to be a good hush hush but thats highly doubable. Why would they willingly destroy it risking alot on the hopes that it stops pics of the build site. And gives them a chance to rebuild a better station in a better style.

Maybe they left it on who knows, and just beacuse the power socket is off it does not mean it can not short out.

I dont know if vending machines are turned off every night, you would probably be able to answer that.

Anyway they are looking at the CCTV stuff.

While the power is off?

Power is left on for vending machines, they have built in refrigerators otherwise all the food would melt and the drinks warm up.

Depends which ones you get.

The vending machines we had at Treasure Island were usually turned off at night as the refrigerator inside was insulated and acted like a coolbox. Those were supplied by the Coke company themselves so they were high grade. There are probably several hundred version of these thing that can't do what ours did...

Hmm, I dunno on this one. I'll sit rocking on the fence.
