Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

I've only heard good things about InvadR before now? That being said, it was themed appropriately for the target market unlike this looks to be.

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

Apparently Alton Towers have been forced to remove their claim that Wicker Man is the world's first rollercoaster fusing wood and fire by the Advertising Standards Agency. Quite right too! It was an enthusiast who first took this up with the ASA, now they seem to have agreed and given Alton a...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

I'd imagine having two trains launching at the same time would be impossible due to block sectioning and clearance envelopes in the tunnel.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

The track could realistically be finished before the start of the season, I just don't see them taking 3 months between track completion and opening for a coaster that doesn't have masses of theming to be done.

I don't think Skyforce is being touched at all.

Yeh but Velocity is a crappy Vekoma so what ya gonna do.

Icon's speed has been unchanged since the initial announcement in September 2016.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

So Helix is just over 10mph faster than Icon. I usually find that to an extent once you hit about 45mph speed doesn't matter too much and it's more about the ride elements and how they've been designed. Basically what I'm trying to say is that a 50mph ride can feel faster than an 80mph ride...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach | Icon | Mack Multi-Launch

I really don't understand the notion that this looks sub par. The first half looks good and the second half looks fantastic, just as good as Helix or Taron look without personally having ridden either.

Nemesis isn't tall, it isn't that fast and it only has 4 inversions yet Walter Bolliger still considers it the best B&M invert.

I'm sure many people will prefer Helix, but others will prefer Icon, such is the nature of personal opinions.

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

SW8 is now being advertised as a "WORLD'S FIRST" on the new short break TV adverts. You know, we never actually saw what was inside that building.

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

I'm excited for this now, I think it's going to be very fun and the theming looks great. A couple of the track elements look petty thrilling as well.

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

Obviously it can't be going at lightning pace at that point but there are lots of wooden coasters that have unbanked corners that aren't too slow.

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

Would be a valid argument if the ride was targeted at children under 6 and was being built in CBeebies Land. In my opinion, none of what the park has released has been very scary or inappropriate, burning a wooden statue doesn't scream dark and terrifying to me (the whole country does it every...

Alton Towers | Wicker Man | GCI Wood

But this isn't what the theme is about at all. The theme is based on a secretive group within a forest that detest the advance of technology and are rebuilding a monument to their long lost saviour. There are no links at all between the wicker man movie (which nobody under 30 seems to have heard...
