Obviously they don't Tay, as that's the reason as to why they are not so high.

I haven't really heard one bad comment about the Green Mile though. Wizard of Oz I understand may not be the genre people enjoy, but it's still a classic!

And I am going to see the Dark Knight next week!

Oh and also, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 comes out on August 6th! I'm so excited, except for the fact that they're combining like, two other books into one movie so I know a lot of important stuff will be cut out. I'm definitely going to see it, though!

With regards to the IMDB top 250, for me, it's pretty accurate in terms of my views of the films I've seen.

9 of my (roughly) 10 favourite films are in the top 250, with the other being not far off by the looks of it.

Also, the Dark Knight has been at the top for a few days now, since it reached about 70,000 votes. I'm certain it will stay at that spot for a long time, especially considering it's 0.3 average votes higher than Godfather. Also if you look at the gap between the others, Dark Knight's and Godfather's gap is pretty big.

I'm seeing The Dark Knight tomorrow, and I've never anticipated a film so much this year. Even more than Cloverfield.

I just came back from seeing the Dark Knight, a lot of anticipation for me as i've been studying the films development ever since I started looking at Viral Marketing.

But it didn't dissapoint! It was amazing, the cinematography was simply mind boggling in some sequences, as well as a fantastic array of stunts that made the film so glorius to watch!
Brilliant acting from Mr Ledger, what a performance, definatley topped Jack Nicholsons performance in the original 1989 Batman.

Definatley a 10/10 for me, I rarely say i love a film that much. But it can't beat OldBoy with all these plus'

Spiderman was shockingly poor. The Hulk had shoddy acting in it. Superman was dragged out.

Trust me, watch this film. I didn't watch it because it was a superhero film, I watched it as if it was any other action film. Believe me, it'll change your mind.

How can you say superman is dragged out that is unless your on about the newer craper superman but the origional films are classics. As for comic book films i will admit not everyone gets done right or with the justice it deserves but there are a few that are great films, Yes there never gonna be amazing but there good for a watch. Spiderman was like OMG its spiderman and its new but really all 3 just boared me to death, And im a massive comic book fan. On to X-men yes they could have done better but it wasnt that bad and i really enjoyed the third one. Some of the other ones get overlooked a bit for example the punisher, Not the dolf lungred version but the newer one i think thats done really well and the new hulk i thought was ok to. The old hulk was a pile of ****e along with elecktra but thats just my opinion. Now onto Batman, Im a massive fan of the tim burton versions but after his attempts it just got a little silly and kiddy, jack nicholson as the joker was awsome he played the role how it really should have been played, A little phsyco a little funny and he pulled it of amazingly and now we have a new joker and i honestly have to say he did an amazing job. As much as i am a fan of the burton films i always thought batman should be more dark and more gritty thats just what you expect so when i first saw batman begins i was rather pleased to find out it was just as i had hoped that is apart from the abismal Liam Neeson he was ****. So i couldnt wait for the new film and have to say it didnt disapoint yes the film was longer than Batman begins but doesnt feel it there is a lot more action in it and i was pleased to see most of it was done properly not to much CGI, I do understand that you cant get batman zipping about the place without a little CGI but it wasnt overused for example the (AND ITS NOT A SPOILER) vehicle sections where done with real cars not CGI ones, And i was rather impressed how (AGAIN NOT A SPOILER ITS IN THE TV ADVERTS) they got that truck to flip end over end perfectly. Now onto the performances i have to agree heath does steal this film as the joker and its a shame we wont ever get another joker of this quality so i hope they leave it and never try to be honest hes just so belivable and really dark just as he should be. i would love to go into loads of details but i dont wanna spoil it for anyone please even if your not a fan of batman go see it just for his last performance its really deserves it. I do though have one little niggle with Bale what the hell is with the voice it really irratates me he sounds like he need some cough syrup lol. Anyways ill stop going on now but ye go see it its awsome 10/10

Yes.. all those shockingly good ratings and nothing below a 10 here on CF means nothing.

You shouldn't let other poorly made movies reflect onto your thoughts of another. This movie was surprisingly well done and featured an amazing performance from a great actor. To deny yourself of this movie, even if you don't like it that much, because of other piss poor movies is just plain retarded.

John that's exactly what I meant. It's been dragged out, as in film wise. The originals are good, but the latest have been pretty ****, thus, they've dragged it out.

And yes, Bale's voice as Batman annoyed me most of the time. Although it was good when SPOLIER in the interrogation room with Joker.

And Snoo, pretty much what I feel. Even if your not a fan or superhero films, watch it as if it were just another action film.

The Dark Knight

I cannot give a final rating for this film, as the showing I saw was pretty poor in quality. (The sound had too much bass, meaning the dialogue was hard to follow when the score was blasting.) But for what it was here’s what I thought.

Firstly, I loved Batman Begins as it was expertly filmed. It was much more than an action movie. Crucially, it was about Batman’s story. The Dark Knight was not about Batman, or even the Joker.

(SPOILER) It was about Harvey Dent (Gotham’s and Batman’s hope for democratic redemption.) turning into Two Face, and that’s fine with me, or it was until I saw his CGI face. It was unrealistic. Defeating Christopher Nolan’s vision for a real world Batman. (/SPOILER)

Heath Ledger over shadowed the film, he was good, but it kind of hurt the films original ambition. For me, the film was overrated. It was good, but only just.

It has definitely lost the original’s charm in my opinion. So I will give a preliminary rating of:

4/5

I may change that, as I might go and see it in IMAX. It’s definitely one of those films that need a second viewing.

Just brilliant.

I completely agree with Ben on how the Joker is what all people really want to see. I got so excited when he appeared! Really great character portrayal with so much humour from him, I loved it!

I guess it was sorta like Batman Begins, only without the Joker and Two-Face. Begins was excellent, and with the Joker and Two-Face, the Dark Knight was even better.

Again, for the third new film that I've seen in a row, it's one of the best I've ever seen!

10/10.

I can barely be bothered to see WALL-E now lol.

Agreed totally. I went with my mother the first time and that was her main complaint, and I heard from several people while I was leaving both times that it was a bit loud.

As for your spoiler.. nothing but truth. I mean, some parts of what happened to him just wouldn't happen in real life. The only real drawback to that aspect of the movie.

The Dark Knight

Rubbish, crap yet entertaining.

It was far too long, the plot was weak (which in fairness is to be expected) and the whole film seemed dry.

Despite it being rubbish it certainly filled the two and half hours I was sat there as it flowed quite well but it was just so uneventful and tiring.

As for the acting, well why the **** do they let Michal Cain anywhere near it? Bale was wooden as Wayne but being wooden helped playing Batman. Ledger played the Joker well although I got irritated with the oversymphatic laughter at his "jokes" from the rest of the audience in the poncy art-house cinema I was in. The two best actors of the film were Freeman (superbly cast) and Eckhart as Dent, again, well cast.

At the end of the day, it's a Batman film. It's never going to be amazing and it's the sort of film you'd get given as a xmas present and would never watch. I certainly wouldn't watch it again and perhaps I'm a little bitter as I considered it a waste of a Friday night.

3/10.

Whoaa, three out of ten?

That seems weird compared to the other reviews, but it's good to hear something negative about a film that's getting nothing but positive reviews!

i can see where ians coming from for some one whos not a fan of cinema going or batman lol its a fair point. IT all personal opinion in the end i think its fantastic but im a massiv comic book fan so thats why i love it its nice as you say Taylor to see an outside if you get what i mean to review it its interesting to see what non fans think. The only people that annoys me are people who say "im not watching this cause so and so is in it" or " its crap but theve never seen it" there the people who annoy me if some one watches a film and thinks its crap and then i watch it and love it each to there own hehe. Off to watch batman again lol see ya soon

Well just saw Dark Knight and I must say what a film.

I thought all the acting was good apart from the woman.

I did think though the film was sick, well the joker was anyway and a few times I jumped. Heath Ledger was so good in the film he owned the screen every time he was on it.

It is totally different from the 1st film and I do feel like I want to see it again right now.

I did not know the plot or anything before seeing he film so this made it much better, plus they did not seem to use to much CGI.
10/10 probably the best comic book film ever.

But I dont think I will sleep well tonight as I did find it that bit to sick in places and thought the 12 rating was to low.

Well, I have just returned from watching The Dark Knight...

I must admit that after reading Ian's review I was a little worried I would be dissapointed. Thankfully, I wasn't.

Where do I start?
Well, so many have said already, yet it is most definately worth saying again. Ledger was every bit the twisted psychopathic nut case that he should be, in the context of the era of the Batman comics that this film represents. I think any comparison to Nicholsons Joker is foolhardy to say the least, as the contexts of the film are so very serperate. Every last action or word that came from Ledger screamed of the sadistic, uncompromising, unpredictable nature of The Joker. To the degree where in places, it was disturbing. It was certainly an award winning level performance, by many standards.

Bale once again, shone as Batman, probably edging to be the best one yet. It has been mentioned previously that Bale has a different voice as Batman in comparison to that of Bruce Wayne. This actually makes perfect sense to me, since Batman could be recognisable to others by his voice, so therefore it would need to be different. The gruff harsh tone he uses is another element of the fear he strikes into the villains. It makes sense that he almost sounds like a monster himself. Which is kind of the whole point in the first place. Bale seemed to have the both parts down to a fine art and played very well against Ledger. The so very different, yet so very alike one another chemistry was electric throughout the whole film.

Eckhart, as Harvey Dent, played the civilian hero convincingly and was again a very good casting choice. His elevation to Two Face, supremely acted and again, left you guessing exactly where the evil would end.

The scripting of this film was also perfect. The plot moved along at all the right paces at all the right times. Many years ago (even as late as the 80's) it was considered by some, "against the rules" to open the film with your bad guy. This is one of those films that clearly disagrees and does it to very good effect. The opening set up is all about a simple introduction, but it shows jsut how sick yet clever the Joker really is.

Throughout the whole film the levels of comic timing in both the script and the actions were stunning, to the point that they weren't conventionally funny. Everytime there seemed to be a laugh out loud moment, it was accompanied by the psychotic sickening feeling that left the humour in a very twisted place. I didn't know whether to laugh or just be mortified. An emotion that is clearly the intention.

This whole movie has the ability to change the way in which people view the superhero/comic book movie genre. By any normal standards, they chuck in a whole load of action (accompanied by exceptional amounts of CGI) and very little plot and fly by the seat of the pants and hope the "effects" carry everyone through the action. The dark Knight, provokes thought and actually challenges peoples own opinions. For those who have seen it, what would you do in the ferry boat situation? Or indeed, in Dents postition? A lot of it is about psychological terror and corruption, (and not just Batman biff, pow and karacking bad guys) which it so effectively pulled off.

This film showed what genre Batman was always intended for, Crime Thriller. After all, Batman started as part of the Detective comics series. It certainly did not pander to the view point that it has to be family friendly in order for it to work in the "Superhero" bracket.

Superbly shot, with a very little amount of CGI by the standards of most modern action films. It was a joy to watch from start to finish. Even during the squirm in your seat, mentally disturbing scenes which so fantastically came across.

This is a definate must see, and I cant wait to see it again. Possibly on Thursday.

10/10.

I do have to admit I was nearly crying at the end I was worried about what was going on.

The way they done 2 face was very good.

The film also makes the attempts at Spiderman even worse than I thought they were already.
