Venturing to say this - ambient music anyone? How about Hecq, Stars of the Lid, or Tim Hecker?
I adore ambient music. It's probably some of the most peaceful, relaxing music one can ever hear - soothing sounds for the soul. Especially Stars of the Lid, their music is pretty sublime - and be informed it's also quite tranquil in quality so it's not uncommon for people to say this "could make them fall asleep." That's why they refer to themselves as Stars of the Lid (the back of the eyelid, haha). Also, their music may sound really mellow, however it's not as tame as it may first seem as they incorporate some pretty vigorous bass throughout their music as well. Tim Hecker and Hecq occasionally do this too but I especially like Stars of the Lid's bass. Listen to their song I recommended below through a good bass system and you'll see what I mean! Otherwise, just enjoy their nice, dreamy drones.
So here's some suggested songs of each artist. Hecq has an alternate style of IDM, glitch, and perhaps dubstep - not just ambient, so there's an example of his alternate style as well if you'd like. The links take you directly to the songs on Grooveshark and should automatically start playing.
Hecq - "0011"
Hecq's alternate sound - "Sura"
Stars of the Lid - "Requiem for Dying Mothers, Part 2"
Tim Hecker - "Borderlands"
Really love sharing this stuff, I think they're all exceptional artists which wouldn't hurt with having more listeners.
