Meh, it's not like it's a number one or anything, woodies like that are common as muck.

Yeah, no way I was paying 60 bucks to ride 4 clones that are complete and utter dog sh it.

I'll go back one day so I'm not that fussed.

Day 12- Tropical Storm Bill

The forecast looked grim for the day, but we woke up pretty optimistic that the weather people would be wrong and we'd be enjoying a nice and dead day at Six Flags Over Texas! We checked their Facebook and Twitter pages religiously for any information regarding ride closures or the park being closed for the day, but much to our excitement, they updated it and said the park would be open. Six Flags Over Texas, Fiesta Texas, and Magic Mountain are the three Six Flags parks I have always wanted to do, so I was really looking forward to knocking two of the three off in the span of just two days. After peering out of our hotel window, the weather didn't look great, but it didn't look dire either.

The news station was reporting awful weather and flooding for not only that day, but for a few days following. Still, we pressed on and headed to the park, being greeted by about five other cars in the parking lot. Remaining optimistic, we made our way to the entrance and asked what would be open, only to be told that Runaway Mountain was the only coaster open for now, with no guarantee that anything else would be up and running for the rest of the day; however, we seen various coasters testing and the drop tower was actually cycling with riders. After riding Runaway Mountain, which was actually a lot of fun, we decided to go to the entrance of New Texas Giant first, since that is the star attraction in the park and if I had to pick one thing to get that day, that would have been it! It was quite obviously shut when we first got there, so we thought maybe Justice League would be a good alternative while we waited, but our cred anxiety was too high to even leave the area (which we would later regret). We got some fries and chatted to the employee at the front entrance of the coaster, who was a super fantastic guy and really wanted it to open for us, but he really had no idea what he was talking about. Half an hour or so later, we cut our losses and started to head out of the park. We walked for maybe two minutes when Tom spotted a train cresting the lift hill, so we swiftly headed back to where we were before! The coaster tested many times, a few times even with employees on it, and the man standing at the front entrance said that it would be opening up after just a few more cycles. It was hard not to get our hopes up at this time, but it seemed like there might be a light at the end of a stressful tunnel! After seeing it test five or six times, a ride operator was making his way down the exit ramp, which could only mean one thing! Anticipating good news, our hearts were shattered when he informed us that, not only was the coaster closed, but the entire park was shutting down. From a business standpoint, obviously it made extreme sense considering there were about ten other people in the park, but we couldn't help but be extremely let down. It would have been a different story if we had arrived to a park that was initially shut down due to the forecast, or hadn't seen rides testing, or if we hadn't stuck it out for an hour and a half while Ben was sick under the false pretense that New Texas Giant would soon be letting riders on. The entire ordeal sucked, and the day was a big tease. At least we got to see a cute squirrel...

And here is a final picture from the park that day, with the fence that separated us from not just a +1, but a world class coaster.

Pulling away from the park, we couldn't hide our disappointment and started to brainstorm ways that we could get back to the park throughout the course of our time in Texas. Our concentration soon shifted from an entire park missed to the fact we were about to drive four hours through flash flood warnings and a tropical storm. Thank goodness Darren was driving, because otherwise I think I'd be hanging out in a coffin rather than writing this trip report!

Even with disgusting weather and traffic that turned a four hour drive into something like six, our thirst for some culch was real, so we stopped at some field where a TV show Darren likes was filmed.

The plan was to try getting to Fiesta Texas before the storm hit there, and try getting on Iron Rattler just in case the weather was going to spite the next day as well. First though, we stopped at Olive Garden for dinner, where I had mushroom ravioli as usual!

Getting to Fiesta Texas was not happening that night, which became evident when we were stuck in more traffic caused by flooding and a car accident. So, we went to our hotel and cried ourselves to sleep, hoping tomorrow would be a better day!
