I kinda feel sorry for the Vita. It's undoubtedly a superb bit of kit, and frankly the first handheld to have a decent control system, but to me, it has massively missed a trick. It needed to be aimed squarely at the Ipad market, as kind of a 'gaming tablet', but what it has managed to do is...

I have owned pretty much every console ever made, either at the time, or due to an unhealthy stint on ebay  , and have the three current console, so got OnLive more out of bad habit, than having been sold on it. I have two games, Arkham City (Which I got as a free choice of game with my...

Fairy nuff. Wouldn't necessarily say it's too early for it though, just not for all - but for anyone with a decent internet connection, It really is worth a punt, especially as without the microconsole you can sign up and use it free. As a conduit for playing demos without faffing on...

Some of the deals are excellent - borderlands was a couple of quid for the full game reciently, and darksiders about 6 quid. I think the best way to look at it in a fair light is a little like a lovefilm:games edition. I'm not a lover of not physically owning a game, but frankly is it much...

Free OnLive microconsole with £29 Pro Evo 2012 pre-order. Really, really decent and worth having if you have a decent internet connection - watch your data usage though - all too easy to get carried away if you are not on an unlimited package. http://onlivefans.com/news/new-pre-orde ...

    Lightwater Valley 2012

Planning permission, and funds. That and the fact that whatever it is or isn't, Skeleton Cove is miles better an area than they have previously cobbled together. There are indeed rides they have wasted their money on. The ones bought from Loudoun aren't them.

    Lightwater Valley 2012

I'm actually surprised they didn't try and lease it for a couple of seasons, like they did with the Rapids and Whirlwind (and still do with Raptor Attack); would have kept the costs reasonable and given the park a fair idea as to what sort of maintenance the ride would need. That and the fact...

British theme parks a rip off"say more than half of visitors

Re: British theme parks a rip off"say more than half of visi When Valley Mania visited Lightwater the other week, Marketing Ash asked us what we thought of the turn of phrase 'value', in relation to how the park sells itself. Personally I hate the word value. It is as false as a Curry's/Comet...

British theme parks a rip off"say more than half of visitors

Re: British theme parks a rip off"say more than half of visi Not sure. I think the idea of paying maybe £3-4 for a bottle of coke is abhorrent, but compared to parks like Disney, where you can easily spend double your entry fee on merchandise and food, while not good value, frankly could be worse.

My 7 year old has become obsessed with the £10 Gamecube I gave him a few months back; Loz WW, Mario Kart and Paper Mario have all been played more than when I actually used my own Gamecube. The machine was such an underrated bit of kit, let down by a silly handle, underwhelming entries in the...

Actually I see android as the key; not only is it accelerating at a greater rate, there are less casual games, more experimental games, but crucially, it goes through 'versions' (eclair et al) at a rate that Microsoft and co can only dream of. The wii U will be a flop, but I suspect the vita...

Re: Absolutely fabulous post, a pleasure to read. I can't help but agree with you about the potential for a crash though; I am convinced decades are cyclical every thirty years (the noughties mirrored the seventies, the tens the eighties, just as the twenties will mirror the sixties and...

Famous actors who actually can't act...

There are plenty of films I have avoided because of that sneering tube. Worse than well known crap actors are those who everyone says in fantastic, but in reality, are dreadful or at best very mediocre - I for example think Brian Cox was an infinitely better Hannibal Lecktor than Anthony...
