Walibi Belgium | Mecalodon | Gerstlauer Family Coaster | 2025

The thing looks absolutely brilliant. When I first saw the early renderings I wasn't too sure as I thought the placement of the ride was a bit odd. But now with all of the theming (and the water!) in place, it's really come alive incredibly well.
They've definitely become one of the top dogs of the European theme park industry over the last decade. The future sure looks bright for this place.

Honestly very impressed. Even in 5th row some nice whips and airtime. Overall a fantastic addition to the park line-up!!

Edit: end of my day at the park, rode Mecalodon 5 times. It definitely gets better as the day goes on. First ride of the day it slowed down quite a lot before each launch section, this was less noticeable later on.

I rode it at the front and back, and i much prefer it at the back. There are a lot of moments on the coaster where if you're sitting at the front, you sometimes awkwardly hang there waiting for the rest of the train to push you.

But it's truly excellent. Especially for a family coaster. It's quite long and the diverse elements are great. Operations were really quick. Bravo Walibi Belgium !!

It's kind of incredible how far this park has come in only a decade. Before Pulsar was announced, it had seen basically no investment since the Six Flags era outside of a failed prototype that barely lasted a year. To go from that to a lineup this solid is fantastic to see, and I cannot wait to see where the part goes next.

So this is weird, a pirate-metal band I like (as does @peep) - Alestorm - do a thing where they hide a plectrum somewhere and post it on their instagram-stories for people to find (they usually do this prior to that day's gig when on tour).

Anyway, today they posted this;

and hid the plectrum behind some rope on that platform.

My worlds have collided! :)

Well...the general manager unoficially said during the Walibi Pass Event that Festival World is going to be their next project. Festival World would include Vampire and Loup Garou. I think that is where RMC is coming in.

Is it rough at all?

Not at all. Now of course it was only the first day, who knows what'll be in a few years..
If it's anything like Tiki-Waka, it might develop some mild vibrations but nothing unpleasant.

The harness was surprisingly comfortable. I thought the shin guards would be painfull like on an RMC, but they don't even touch my legs! (FYI, I'm 194cm)

Oh my GOD, this looks so fun. The robot shark trains! The setting!! The length!!!

Is it shameful to be more excited about getting on this one than Kondaa? 😅
Not at all! I've heard lots of people call it a mini-Taron!

Once it heats up later in the day, that "cheetah hunt"/snake shape element is very whippy!

I even heard some people say they prefer Mecalodon instead of YoY in Walibi Holland. And they all rode YoY Thrill & Chill the day before.

Dock World also looks amazing. The details in the queue and station are just stunning, the enviroment looks so great and I really love the soundscape around Dock World.

The park also released the music from Dock World on every streaming platform. Even Turbine has its own soundscape right now.

The best thing is - they're not even done yet. A few extra elements are still to be placed (with the biggest one being the 15-meter tall lighthouse)
It really is stunning what they did, this is the kind of quality theming you'd expect from parks like Universal or Disney. When they'll re-theme the whole Loup-Garou/Vampire area, Walibi Belgium is going to be a must-do amusement park in Europe.

And while Turbine is already open, the pre-show element (screen and lightning/sound effects for the launch) aren't installed yet. Got told by employees these should arrive in around 2 weeks.

The musical ambience all around the Dock World area is amazing. A big change from the rest of the park, where all you hear are copyright-free versions of known songs!
