Walibi Belgium | Mecalodon | Gerstlauer Family Coaster | 2025

I even heard some people say they prefer Mecalodon instead of YoY in Walibi Holland. And they all rode YoY Thrill & Chill the day before.
Yes from what I've heard YoY is also quite rough. Although I haven't had the chance yet to go, so perhaps people are just a bit whiny when it comes to the roughness.

But Dock World and Mecalodon look really good. I also like the soundtrack. Will definitely be going back to Walibi Belgium this year to see it for myself.

It really looks like they've nailed it with this one. No spikes, switch tracks or backwards sections; just a long, well-landscaped coaster. Definitely seems to have elevated Gerstlauer as probably the top choice for this type of ride. It's exactly what so many parks need.
In my eyes they already were the best pick for these coaster projects, however this ride absolutely reaffirmed it. The only company that's a serious competitor to Gerstlauer in this market is Vekoma with their relatively new LIM coasters, the rest of the industry is playing catch-up (or aim for parks with a tighter budget)

Hello. I used to lurk on this forum or possibly a predecessor when was a predecessor. Now I am old but live 30 minutes from Walibi and have a kid which gives me an excuse to go. I tried out Mecalodon Tuesday and thought it was great fun. Very smooth, great acceleration and nicely whippy at the end. It'sa family coaster so have that expectation not a total thril ride and it really puts a smileon your face.Very smooth ride, but it was only 4 days old! Theming is fantastic. Even the fish and chips in the new restaurant was decent. 20250408_134841.jpg20250408_133324.jpg

A tip for anyone who can drop by at short notice (couple of hours from calais or on the eurostar). Park currently open I guess for international holidays and the many international schools here. But it's not actually school holiday for most Belgians this weekor next, 20 minute queue for this and the always slow loading tiki taka(?), walk on for everything else.
