Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

^^Nowhere does it mention coaster. 'multi-dimensional thrill ride'. If it is a coaster, you are going to mention it.

Can you imagine Merlin advertising The Smiler as 'a world-first, new ride that will marmalise your body and mind', if they had, we would not have been expecting a coaster.

It MIGHT be a coaster but how they are talking about things, it isn't. This is disappointing news.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

An insider who leaks loads of news pieces said on Twitter the other day that it doesn't have to be an actual coaster to feel like one. From the concept art it looks like we'll be seeing a new generation of Spiderman / Indiana Jones which is certainly not bad news.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

There have been pictures of the track and pictures of the coaster car, it is clear its a roller coaster.

But it does have effects that have never been used before on a roller coaster.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

Neither of those are creds though...are they? (Risk of serious embarrassment there ;) )

I know creds aren't everything, in fact in the grand scheme of things they're almost the least important thing, by cred I simply mean the term 'rollercoaster'. People have been saying for months 'it's a coaster', 'it's a cred'. If it isn't I will be slightly disappointed but it's not going to be the end of the world. I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience what ever it is.

It does look a lot like coaster track, it doesn't have to be of course. Dark rides have to have something to go around on, has there been any track seen that isn't simply flat? For example, a lift hill, hill sections etc.

It might be a coaster but I'm more inclined to say it won't be. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

It is a coaster but much like the start of the Mummy.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

As far as I can remember from what I have seen in the plans there wasnt a lift hill, there are two tyre launches but they is no significant hill of such

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

I hadn't thought of the possibility of a launch XD

After all said and done I really do hope it is a coaster.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

In addition to the picture of a transition inside the building I recall seeing a while ago, didn't something confirm that it was a joint project between Premier and Vekoma? It might be something that the elves that whisper things to me at night told me while I was running from Mrs. Butterworth down the highway in space but I thought I heard it on this site.

I think it's definitely a cred, a powered coaster at the very least. Or maybe the Spider-Man on coaster track that insanecoastervids mentioned. Something that could create the rocking motion that it might experience going around a tight unbanked bend.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

It's a coaster, it always has been labelled as a coaster ever since the first concept was released.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

I can remember the talk of the joint project. I think what we have here is perhaps a new type of coaster which sounds very exciting especially if it is a cross over between Revenge Of The Mummy and Spider-Man, two amazing rides. The launches sound cool and I think this will be a brilliant coaster.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

^I most certainly hope it is!

Well, this is an interesting development: http://rcdb.com/11887.htm
Since I wouldn't expect Duane adds entries due to mere rumours, it is highly likely that this will be a new kind of 'multi-sensory' coaster. Also, since Forbidden Journey is hardly a thrill ride and we've seen track, what else could it be? If this is the case, this is a wonderful move for the park; I must admit whilst I really enjoyed HRRR, Mummy was quite disappointing, with a relatively weak launch and layout (but albeit fantastic effects).

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

Hello Matthew Lewis.

RotM is actually a forceful coaster in parts, the airtime hill and backwards brakes are two if my highlights.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

I think it is just some sort of dark ride, If it was a coaster they would have told us by now. The layout can easily be a dark ride, so give your hopes up.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

If you look at the first two pages of this thread, you can see that it's clearly three-spined coaster track. It looks almost exactly like Premier track.
