Yes I was going to say it did not need to be a coaster, but that's what they went for.

And again yes I know the other ride is a dark ride, but people I know think the layout is huge and it's not.

Due to the nature of effects on the ride a roller coaster was the only option. For example in the tunnel scene it wouldnt be possible to pull this off if the ride was like spiderman

In terms of being comfortable, being a coaster and dark ride doesn't make any difference in terms of the glasses. Not one single bit. Spiderman throws you around a hell of a lot, I doubt the coaster will actually have the lateral forces that Spiderman or Transformers even have.

I think it looks amazing but such a mismatch of buildings that just is not what London is like. That's my only gripe with this.

That looks great. It would have probably been easy to make the whole thing look "ye olde worlde" (even the films didn't use the actual Kings Cross) so top marks to Universal for building it that way.

Yeah, but you have to take into consideration that the scale of the place means it'd be pointless sticking to one type of architecture due to it not portraying "London" in a way that using assorted architecture types iconic to the city would. A majority of the attendance to Universal won't have actually ventured to the UK and/or London and will have only seen the city on TV shows and movies, so they've actually created a very clever perceived cityscape that people will recognise. It's very clever as a piece of design.

Got to visit the parks today. Off to the far right of the pic theyare still doing a ton of work. Also non coaster related by the train station in ioa seems way behind this part. I only saw steel frames, no facade.

Well, the Hogwarts station was an empty platform, and the Hogsmeade station wasn't much more than that...

Surely there's only so much you can do with a train station though? The stations in the movie weren't exactly brimming with anything.

How far's this from final construction, did you find out?
