But the article states:

That to me says that BPB are paying the RAF six figures for the right to use the Red Arrow name and brand (RAF being the rights holder, granting it to BPB)
Again, this would be a case where BPB is leveraging off a brand (Because the British public I assume love the red arrows, and will want to ride a "Red Arrows" ride more than some generic Sky Fly), so they are paying good money to secure those rights and get that instant recognition.

If you were to group BPB rides:

BPB paying money for a character, IP or well liked brand: Wallace, Nick, Red Arrows.

BPB recieving money for whoring their ride as a giant billboard: Pepsi Max Big One, Irn Bru, Ice Blast/Playstation the ride.

I think what Ian means is that they relied on grants from the council to be able to afford those IPs
