Decent Kate Bush remix...but the video just MAKES IT.

^That video was funny, although I don't really like the song.

I'm having a bit of a Brand New spell at the moment, and more specifically some of the stuff off their most recent album 'The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me'. Yes, its all a bit emo (and in the true sense of the genre, not the MTV sense) but some of it has got a lovely blend of chilled out vibes and energy and passion. The song that I really can't get enough of is 'Jesus Christ', which I first heard when I saw them live at Leeds Festival last summer, and they put on a cracking performance. Its got an awesome laid-back guitar riff running through it, but just develops a little bit more near the end. I love singer Jesse Lacey's voice too. In a way, its quite stereotypical for the genre, but its also got a rawer, more natural quality.

Have a listen (but ignore the 'special' video that someone's made for it):

The other song of theirs i'm listening to lots is 'Sowing Season'. Its along the same lines, but a bit more upbeat (as much as something a bit emoey could be) and with a bit more energy, and some awesome drums going on throughout the verses.

Some 'genius' made a linerider video...:

Brand New are an awesome band.

I much prefer their older stuff though. One of their best songs is 'The Quiet Things Noone Knows'...which is also the URL for my myspace. So I guess that shows how much I like that song.

I'm quite into music like that at the moment.

Brand New <3.

I agree with Trav about their older stuff. Deja Entendu is a great album and I would highly recommend it. Adding to the list of songs by them check out "Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades". It's one of my favourites at the moment.

Oh and the new Simple Plan album is very good, and I recommend it.

Simple Plan's latest single "When I'm Gone".

Awesome rec man. Brand New's latest stuff is amazing. Love that whole cd top to bottom. It's far superior to the pop punk stuff they were releasing prior to that cd also.

One of my favorite cd's for sure.

The National- Boxer

Well my music taste has evolved DRASTICALLY from just a few months ago. After picking up Thursday, Thrice and Brand New, it made me appreciate other genres of rock, specifically more mature, meaningful music. This is no different. The National is a very mature sounding band with fantastic lyrics and harmonies. The standout tracks on this cd are: Mistaken for Strangers, Apartment Story, and Fake Empire.

Recommended if you like: Interpol, Joy Division or Tindersticks

Awesome CD, one of the best of 2007.

Goldfrapp are back with a new album; Seventh Tree.

I was lucky enough to get a preview copy and it's very much like thier first one, Felt Mountain. Felt Mountain is a very chilled album and many of the tunes were used in adverts.

The recent two albums from Frapp have been quite disco/poppy, which isn't really to my taste.

This forth album of theirs is very good but it's hard work.

It doesn't have that instant hit but it's certainly a grower. After three for four listens, the little theatrical musical flourishes come out (Will Gregory, half of Goldfrapp has produced music for many films, you see).

It certainly won't be the tastes of many of CF, but if you fancy a bit of a background CD that occasionally make you sit up and say "wow" then this is the one for you. It's chilled out, dramatic in places and beautifully produced.

I'd recommend downloading "Caravan Girl" and "A&E" for a taster. Both songs are the two "instant hits".

Caravan Girl sends shivers down my spine, it's so triumphant. It's like that first time you wake up next to the person you love.

Go on, give it a go. Culturise yourself.

I don't think I've ever seen this side of you Ian, it's quite cute.

But yeah, on the musical side. I'm getting all revved up to seeing Bjork in April in london. I know most people see her as "that crazy icelandic elf". But she truely is a musical genious.

Her last single, Declare Independence V is LOUD, almost to a point of taking the piss. But after seeing videos of live performances you get a better idea of how awesome it is.

And on the contrast, this is All Is Full Of Love, probably my favourite music video. It's basically lesbian robot porn... haha its very...romantic in a way though.

And this is, Earth Intruders, the Björk-Timbaland colaboration. which has clocked a massive 386 plays in half a year on my iTunes. It's addictive, and tbh i didn't like it first listen, but once your in it, theres no getting out, the beats, production, just everything is amazing.

And theres a nice little bjork-shaped slice, for anyone interested. It won't be to everyones taste, but hey.

This is a live version of the currently free song on itunes, i am in LOVE with this song!!!! the vocal melodies go right through me.

I'm not sure why the person recording this decided to turn it sidewards but hey *shrug*

Other awesome stuff on itunes right now is Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly's new album 'Searching for the Hows and Whys' and Duffy's Live EP, and if your a R&B fan then I'd recommend Janet - Discipline, WAY better than 20 Y.O.

I simply LOVE this song.

I recommed Streetlight Manifesto. They were supporting Reel Big Fish last night at the Bristol Beir Keller. They were very good, and the same style as Reel Big Fish except a bit more punk/rock.
