Jaws at Universal Studios to close

Video of the last ever ride on Jaws.

They're certainly not wasting any time.

Could they have themed the fences :p I'm guessing no then!

It looks so bad, jaws would still be I maps etc, you can see the area, but a big grey bad fence stops you, it ruins the atmosphere of the park as well.

Ok fair enough!
But you still know something's there, and anyones whos not been before will wonder why it's shut off.

I'm sure there will be notifications around the park. Jaws is such an iconic ride, and people not in the know about the ride's status will definitely be wondering what's going on, and I think Universal will definitely be aware of this.

If that Jim Hill article is anything to go by, having Jaws closed leads to lots of angry people at Universal's customer services. They'd be mad not to put up signs explaining what the plans are.

I guess those boards will be Potter themed soon, then people will soon forget about Jaws knowing Harry is on his way.

Its defiantly an eyesore for the park. The amity area wasn't small, and people will have to walk through the gray tunnel of doom (as I've now named it), to get to the MIB ride on the other side. It completely ruins the flow of the park, and once the Harry Potter construction begins it'll look even worse with the scaffolding towering over the already ugly walls.

Yes, I know its all park of construction but for the next year and a bit this park is not going to look pretty on the back end.

The video of the last ride is actually really sad! You can actually see the love for the ride that the Ride Op's and Performers had for it, which I suppose you don't get much in parks these days. It will be sadly missed, as I said elsewhere, Potter can **** OFF.

It did not look good anyway with a run down area that had the Jaws ride in. From what I read they had all the effects working for the last day, something they hardly ever bothered with.

The ride was no longer popular, if it was it would not be removed.

I liked it the 1st time but it had to go it was becoming a waste of space.

^Oh I know it was time for it to go, I just think that it's sad how gross this area of the park is going to look for the next year or so.

I've got no idea how popular the ride was in the last few years, but even if it was still popular, I think it's largely down to money to be honest. When something is costing over $2 million a year to run, and you can replace it with something that will actually vastly increase gate figures (which Harry Potter undoubtedly will), then there really isn't much of an option.

Agree with you there Gavin, plus the chance to make people buy 2 park tickets and not just the 1 :)

I just find it really funny that people who slated the ride started loving it on the last day, no one here btw.

The last Shark broke about midday so they closed the ride for a bit but then just reopened it minus the Shark near the end.
Everything seemed to be working when I went last summer and everything seems to be working in most the videos on Youtube I've seen of it.

Ollie they were also working last December when we rode it.

Others say sometimes sharks don't appear plus water and fire effects.

Anyway it's gone now.

I didn't realise just how massive that area was, let's hope they put something worth while in!
