How Do You Keep Your Count?

I didn't look too deep to see if this was already created, but I also didn't want to post on something ancient and resurrect the dead.

One of the greatest debates among enthusiasts; Should racing coasters (eg, Gemini, Colossus, American Eagle), but not dueling, be considered one or two credits?

I myself count them as two, as you could theoretically split the two apart and place the second one somewhere else. Also, not all racers are completely identical, as some have turnarounds that go in opposite directions.

EDIT/UPDATE 18 Aug 13: What about half-pipes? Intamin Reverse Freefalls? Disk'Os?

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Mobius coasters are 1.

Racing coasters are 2.

It differs per preference. I take it as, if there are two separate tracks, even if they are identical/mirrored, they are two rides as if you took them apart (as you noted), its two different rides.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

I count them as two, but oddly, Duane Marden at RCDB counts any coaster with multiple tracks as one attraction, whether a twin like Gemini, or even something as different as Battlestar Galactica or Dueling Dragons.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Duane is right, that's why. Fascist coaster counters FTW!!! Come over to the dark side... ;)

Next I'll get him to drop all clones too ;) :p

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

I count them as 2, regardless of mobius or not, to annoy people. I think.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Is a Mobius coaster like Grand National only a full credit if you ride both sides then? Even more pedantry involved in this than I first thought.

Yes, and you mustn't get off either ;)

I follow what ever coaster count says.

So, do you also count these?

...and Alpine coasters?

Also, why are there both sides of, for example, Grand National, but only one side of Master Thai?

Some things are a bit 'weird' on coaster-count...

I wouldn't count one of those playground type things, but i will probably never ride one, so it doesn't matter. I would probably count Alpine coasters, but again i have never ridden one.

I think the difference with Grand National and Master Thai is that on Master Thai, you experience the whole mobius loop on one ride, whereas on the nash you would have to ride at least twice to experience the whole track, thus meaning someone who had only ridden the coaster once, would only have ridden half of the track, so in theory would only have half the cred, if the nash was only displayed as one cred on coaster count.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

I go by Rcdb, but use coaster counter as well. So I only count a racer as 1 coaster and only tick one side (my favourite side) in coaster counter.
Considering you could tick Steeplechase's three different tracks it totally distorts your cred count in my onion.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Yeah, but counting either Dueling Dragons or Battlestar Galactica as one coaster? That's being just as pig-headed in the other direction!

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Each full circuit counts as a credit.

A Mobious coaster is one large full circuit, so one credit.

A Racing coaster is two full circuits that run side-by-side, so two credits.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

I personally count em as one, IF they are the same.
IDK, can't really explain, maybe it's my want to not be a cred whore but I just count it as one attraction, even though it is technically 2 coasters. I never gave it much thought but I think to me it feels more like riding the same track, just again.

If they have different layouts, it's two different "rides" such as Dueling Dragons.
If they are more or less the same but have something a bit different, then well IDK LOL

But yeah lighning racer, or any identical track racing coaster I count as one personally, just me...I seem to be in a tiny minority not really a big deal to me.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Count them as two personally, but will probably mark a Mobius coaster as one since it's technically one full curcuit with two stations.

I won't call anyone on counting duelies like Rolling Thunder, Rebel Yell, and Lightning Racer as one credit, but anyone who thinks Dueling Dragons counts as one credit needs to get their head checked.

I would still say the same about Lightning Racer. The two tracks are pretty similar, yes, but they have enough differences to be in the same ballpark as Dueling Dragons.

Re: Credits for Racing Coasters

Dueling and racing coasters are 2 credits, while Mobius coasters are one credit because they are one track.

For example:

American Eagle - 2 credits
Grand National - 1 credit

So I've changed the title of this thread, because I wanted to ask about some other coaster/ride types without making an entirely new thread.

So now here's the topic. How do you count your coasters?

How many credits do you give racers? Are Zamperla Disk'Os and similar rides counted as coasters? What about Intamin Half-Pipes? Intamin Reverse Freefalls (Superman, SFMM)? Do you even include kiddie coasters? What else comes to mind that could be debated as a worthy credit?

As of right now I include all of the above with the exception of Disk'Os. I'm on the fence about the two Intamin types I've mentioned. I've only been on one half-pipe, so to stop including it wouldn't bother me that much.

What does Coasterforce think?

I wouldn't count Disk O's, but everything else you mentioned i would count. Water coasters, Powered coasters, alpine coasters and butterfly coaster all come into question, but except butterflies i would count them all. Also, Bayern Curves
