^I think it will be like I305s new restraints. Not quite solid, but kinda mesh-y. Tornado at Bakken also has these Intamin type restraints.

I'm hoping for lap bars only on this ride.
Not to sure if it will actually happen, but none of these pictures show any sign of otsr restraints:

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

It has been confirmed that Skyrush will have lap bars !

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

They look like lap bars that are like, pulled down over you. So they're sort of like OTSRs, but, the shoulder parts don't touch you.

A lot like Blue Fire's trains really. Yeah, I could see that.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

My source for Skyrush having only lap bars is Hershey themselves.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

^ There is no link, as it is just someone who works for the company (who is most likely a ride op, and claims to talk to Kent Bachmann or some **** like that) and says that he has been shown the renderings and was given the OK to go out and blab about it as there is no more need for secrecy for Skyrush. I don't believe it, as the more I see this being constructed, the more I have a hard time believing a lap bar will be used.

They have two renders made up, one with OTSR and one with Lapbar. They have yet to finalize (to my current knowledge, as it isn't being flung about on ANY of the groups involved with Skyrush) which design they will go with, as it is apparently a 200 ft drop into an 80 ft hill.

ANYWHO, I've changed up my opinion on the ride a bit:

Massive Airtime = Yes
Wheel eater = Most likely
Trim = At this point, very foreseeable to me

I do see the Intamin curse striking yet once again.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

What is a wheel eater?
And what are the two renderings? Link for them both please?

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Lap bars seem very unlikely in this situation. With the floorless seats, Intamin would have to re design the restraints to either come from the side (which would probably end up being awesome) or over the top. Either way, I don't think they will take the time to do anything new. I see OTSR's all the way.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

That really wouldn't take as long as you think. They could pretty much use the accelerator OTSRs just without the strap thing. They've got a seperate arm thing ANYWAY. You'd just have to take away the black straps and maybe add a few bits and pieces, and you're away.

It's not like designing a space ship or anything.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Intamin has already spent a long time developing this new train, why wouldn't they have developed new restraints for it as well?

Basically, the sheer amount of forces a ride causes wear and tear on the wheels far greater than your average run. I305 is a prime example of a wheel eater. I believe it was a change of wheels every week or so before they slapped trims on it and redid the 1st drop portion

And what are the two renderings? Link for them both please?

Conveniently, he isnt allowed to show others, which further proves my point of him blowing hot air to seem cooler.

^ It is Intamin. They half-assed a fix when the first fatty fell out of one of their Superman rides with an Ankle brace, then threw everything with an OTSR since, and just finally introduced a better version of that on their non ZacSpin rides. If they introduce a newer (read, stolen from Mack) harness system for this train, then huzzah for them.

Plus, I dont believe they took as long as what you think to design this train. It is Furius Baco smushed together basically, as their first gen Wing Rider train has horrid vibration issues.

It's just easier to have the same type of restraint. Why work on something that might not even make sense to have in terms of safety? (even though a lap bar is just as safe)

Well, they would probably have to reshape the restraint to support the legs better. Having just a bar coming across your legs isn't logical.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

Intricks, you seem a bit bitter not being chosen to be a Jr. Researcher by Hershey. You know the group, you know 2 work for Hershey, and you know we have been directly told by Hershey that the ride will have lap bars. I'm surprised at your "negative Nancy" attitude.

I do understand your point of view with wheels and trims - HOWEVER - Skyrush is going to be something between a mega-lite and I305 and suspect given Intamin's experience, there will not be any issues. Skyrush is going to ROCK.

Re: "Skyrush" - Intamin Hyper - Hersheypark

^ One, I have other ways of going to media day for the ride, thank you very much ;) So missing out on being a jr researcher isnt all that big of a deal (as it was honestly my fault entirely). I have a negative Nancy attitude because of the fact that only ONE person, in TWO posts in the open Group 2012 page has said ANYTHING about it (and Ive argued my point with him about it as well). If it were official, Kathy Burrows or Hershey would have stated it officially and included renderings (proper ones mind you) on their webpage, as they have constantly kept it updated throughout the aftermath of its release. Nothing has been said on Hershey, no OFFICIAL word has popped from Ms. Burrows mouth, so it is high reason to disbelieve anything he has to say. Well...THAT and he isn't the Dip 'n' Dots guy either ;)

Intamin has had many a suffering in the more recent years with its rides (stateside at least). The fact that it is being considered a mini I-305 further proves that this ride is going to chew through wheels faster than a family if fatasses at a KFC Buffet. 200ft into an 80ft hill is going to eat the wheels, let alone the sheer tightness of that curve alone (as sexy as it is), IS going to cause issues, and not believing so is utter ignorance. Just because it is going into Hershey doesnt mean jack ****. Intamin rarely learns from their mistakes, and I dread the day this ride may get Trims until a re-profile of the first drop occurs.

^ That was deep.

And...

Thom25: Who told you this? Was it a ride op?
