Guardians of the Galaxy retheme for Tower of Terror

Guys, have you even looked into what's actually rumored?

http://www.screamscape.com/html/disney_california_adventure.htm#Guardians

This is just a PROPOSAL at this stage. There is nothing confirming that this is even in the works.

Even if this was definitely going going to happen (which I would prefer not to happen anyway), the Florida version (which most consider to be the best) would not be touched. The retheme would go to the DCA and WDSP versions of the ride, which are mechanically very different and generally thought of as nowhere as great and immersive as the Orlando ride. I know CF is Europe Based so your local tower would be lost if the rumor is true, but again: IT'S JUST A PROPOSAL.

So calm your asses down before reacting so quickly...

You haven't read where the rumour came from have you? Or even read this thread? We know this isn't affecting the Paris tower, we know this is mainly for DCA, however, it's also been proposed to WDW to help cover the cost of development. WDW are apparently only interested in the idea as a temporary overlay like Haunted mansion turning into Holiday mansion during Halloween and Christmas.

The rumour has come from a ridiculously solid source that is, most of the time, correct due to his sources being the top peeps working at Disney.

Obviously nothing is confirmed, such is the way of rumours. That can't stop us from freaking out because it's such a terrible idea.

Edit: I just read the screamscape bit. He seems to have a completely different source. Interesting. Still a terrible idea.

This is laughable and I never thought they would actually go ahead with it. I just hope it fails so they leave the Orlando and Paris Towers alone.

Damn. I don't normally get that upset over ride closures but this ride (at least the Florida one which I've been on) has such a cool, unique and timeless theme.

It's a shame that it's going to be replaced by some generic, flash in the pan, superhero crap that will probably be forgotten about in 10 years. If it is true, hopefully it fails so the same doesn't happen to the Orlando and Paris towers.

They won't touch Florida's… they're actually starting to spend money on it at the moment so the changes are that if anything, they'll enhance the current ride as opposed to completely redoing it.

Disney Parks chairman Bob Chapek is reportedly outraged that the Marvel acquisition has not resulted in any Marvel-themed rides at the Disneyland Parks, and has ordered the remake.
Well Bob Chapek is a **** knob then. Seriously, **** Disney on this one.

Horrible idea which will hopefully stay in California.

As mentioned, Florida looks highly unlikely, and there's no way they'd do it to Tokyo's. Paris? Wouldn't be surprised since it's the only exact replica of California's version.

I'm praying the Paris tower isn't touched. They have different plans for Marvel anyway in the Studios park and aren't bound by the same restrictions as the US parks.

I SECRETLY think they could do a really **** cool ride out of California's. As long as they don't touch Florida's I'm not gonna cry.

What worries me is that it's a very short refurb time for Disney so I think it'll be a bit half arsed.

I don't....... Get it.

Like, just.... Why?

Wouldn't a Guardians of the Galaxy attractions fit better in Tomorrowland?

I also don't get wanting to retheme an attraction so well loved. It seems counter productive to me.

They are shoe horning the marvel land into that back corner, so it's not that surprising? Marvel is one of the few extremely profitable areas for Disney at the moment with their television side (ABC) struggling and sports (ESPN) having massive layoffs as well, not forgetting over budget Shanghai, and cut backs at parks, why is it so surprising that they theme a ride with the title they bought for billions?

Part of the deal is they can't in Orlando for x amount of years, ever since the deal was announced everyone knew something would show up at DCA. It just makes sense.

They can do a fantastic job with it, and I'm sure they will. Pairing it with the premiere next year is genius and then probably leading into the announcement of the Marvel land right after to tie into the end of Phase 3 for films is genius.

You may not like it, but it absolutely makes sense.

Yeah, it's part of a Marvel Land and Marvel is 100% the property Disney should be pushing at the moment.

The films are and continue to be the biggest franchise since Potter and it has a huge history.

This and Star Wars are their most powerful properties they're idiots for not doing more with it quicker IMO.

^ They're idiots for taking 3 **** years to build Ironman, opening after Shanghai Disney becomes a thing and nobody will give a ****.

^Totally wrong ride choice and the brief glimpse of the film is dire. I'm a bit concerned Disney don't know how to work with Marvel properties in their parks. Time will tell and I do hope it's good but I have big concerns.

They also need to stop taking so long to do anything. Universal will probably open a new Park before star wars land actually opens, that's insane.

Oh yeah they're really mishandling it so far.

What they needed was a **** cool dark ride that just made everyone go yeah that's awesome, like the Spiderman of nowadays but as always Disney are happy sitting around playing in the dirt whilst Universal run rings around them.

Unless they're building in Asia of course where you still get fab Pirates and fab Mystic Manor ****.

I hate marvel :( Granted I haven't seen a lot of the films (including GotG) I just can't get that excited because everything looks so... ordinary. I know Marvel Superhero Island is almost 20 years old, and it wasn't done by Disney, but still, it looks like a cross between the New York hotel at DLP and the Disney's All Star resorts with added Marvel IP.

I can't see how this is going to take me 'somewhere else' like mostly every other Disney "land" does. Even Spiderman's highly themed queue line doesn't interest me.
This is the concept for Disney's first Marvel attraction (a 3D motion simulator, which I can't imagine being much better than Star Tours which debuted 30 YEARS AGO - even the Star Tours 2 has been around for over 5 years)

Everything about this looks so bland.

Saying that if they completely redo Hollywoodland at DCA (including bulldozing the Monsters Inc ride and retheming ToT), from the perspective of someone who hates Marvel, it would be an overall improvement for the park. Hollywood land is dire as it is and I wouldn't mind it going. I'm also aware that Marvel, like Star Wars, is very different to the other Disney IPs making the park more variable. I also wouldn't care if it came to the Paris studios park as everything about that hole (except Ratatouille - its miniland seems pointless though) is already inconceivably atrocious.

I'm a big fan of the Batman IP. I think visually its so much better and the villains are so much more interesting and if it ever came to Universal or Disney, I think it'll look so much better than Marvel. I always visually viewed it as a dystopian art deco-gothic mixture and I think that aesthetic could be ramped up to create such a distinct, out of the ordinary, unique and immersive area comparable to Hogsmede and Diagon Alley.

Anyway I'll stop rambling :p

In some minor defense of Ironman - though I agree that it's a crap ride choice - it's just going into Tomorrowland and should actually fit in quite well with the existing aesthetic.

I'm just grateful that they decided to squeeze it in where they did instead of wasting one of the spaces they still have available for new lands.

I just hate the fact that they're putting Marvel into Disney parks. It makes me so so sad. And, California Adventure...everything is themed to California do I don't get how this will fit in unless they cheat and shove it in Hollywoodland because it's a movie theme?
