What's new

Formula 1 2010

He'll probably be kicking Rosberg's ass at least, lucky for him his team mate's going to make him look a bit better.

I think Nico will beat him in quali tbh, I just hope the team play it fair.

If MS beats Alonso the Ferrari fans will go mad, i bet they would rather have MS than him in the car.

They are not happy about him going to Merc anyway, they are calling him a traitor and are destroying models of the cars he drove. I think it's rather funny tbh.

I still think last year was a one off for the team, people are forgetting that team made one good car in how many years? Its still BAR/Honda, the team that made 3 cars for 2009 before finding one that worked.

RBR and Mclaren are going into next year a lot stronger than the rest, both had winning cars at the end of the year Brawn did not

It's going to be interesting thats for sure. It will be the 1st time in years that the car MS is driving will not be designed for him and he has a very certain style and if the car can not do it he will be in the ****.

He is taking a big risk coming back because if he fails to shine people will only remember him for this season and not the world titles he won previously.

I'm glad to see him back as the more experienced drivers we can have in F1 the better the sport should be. Its going to be interesting to see how the new Mercedes car performs in 2010.

The German, who will be 41 on 3 January, was unveiled at the Mercedes factory in Brackley, Northamptonshire.

Northamptonshire <3

And next year will be awesome then when Button pwns him

Umm, no.

Button will be getting his ass kicked by Hamilton next year. Next year will expose him as the average driver he really is.

That's great except...

I don't deny he's put the pressure on himself, but it is reuniting Michael Schumacher & Ross Brawn, which traditionally has been a pretty damn good partnership in motor racing. True, the car's not been designed around him this time, but its still had Ross Brawn's influence, and he's got a pretty good track record of designing good cars, plus he's got the Mercedes money behind him this year, something that Brawn lacked last year to keep up the development of the car.

Also, Rosberg can be quick in qually, but throughout a lot of last year, he was fuelled a lot lighter than other cars and was often one of the first to stop. This year he'll be fuelled just the same as everyone else, and I think he'll struggle to be consistently fast. Consistency's never been Nico's strong point.

I think what we need to remember is that Schumi is a points scoring machine. Even if he doesn't set the world alight like in 2002 and 2004 - which even I will admit is 99% not going to happen - he will still be there or there abouts at the end of the year.

And Rob's right, with Mercedes money, they can make a decent car and develop it throughout the season this year. And Michael will be an intricate part of that. An F1 driver that actually knows how the cars work

For 2011 yes, but the 2010 car would have been designed from the 2009 budget.

They even said they had to cut back on the 2009 development and take a risk that they had enough of a points lead to get the 2010 car ready. Over the years we have never seen any great developments from that team. People seem to forget where Brawn came from, Ross was there for the bad 2008 car.

As I said before the team BAR/HONDA/BRAWN now Merc have build 2 good cars since 1999, so lets see how they do. They have always had a problem getting heat into the tyres last year was nothing new on that front.

It will take 2010 to build up the team and get things in place for 2011. They done a good job in 2009 dont get me wrong, but come on they built 3 cars and only 1 of them worked. Its the most expensive F1 car of all time and thats a fact.

In my view they will do ok next year, but I do not think they will be at the front like this year. I think RBR, Ferrari and Mclaren are stronger as shown with the rate of development this year. Ferrari stopped but they had already moved the car from near the back to near enough on the pace. The teams mentioned all had to re design the back ends of their cars and they done this and made them winners. Brawn went from winners to just about getting in the top 10 in quali.

Anyway that was last year, I am looking forward to seeing how they go next year. I have been watching F1 far to long now and cannot help but feel Brawn last year was a one off.

I agree about Nico, but remember all quali in 2010 will be on light fuel. MS was never the best in quali even he would admit that so Nico could have the upper hand. A lot will then depend on how MS can get past him. Remember a lot of MS wins have been due to clever pit work, next year a lot of that will be taken away and will be a case of who can make less pit stops and keep their tyres together.

Next year we have so very song drivers on the grid, its probably the best grid for many many years just a shame Kimi will not be there. There are about 7 drivers all capable of winning races and the championship.

MS
Alonso
Massa
Lewis
Button
Vettel
Webber (Still not sure)
Nico (Not 100% sure)

So next year will be tough. I am certainly not writing off MS or Merc, I would be stupid to do that. I am just being honest with my views and not being a fanboy to anyone.

Had to LOL at Bernie Ecclestones latest idea... he wants to introduce 'shortcuts'... where basically each driver can cut a corner/chicane upto five times a race to encourage overtaking.... what a joke.

Then had to LOL at my mates comment about it "So basically hes just trying to turn F1 into Mario Kart..." we'll have green and red shells flying around if Bernie has his way!

Also disappointed to see another street circuit is being built and is coming to F1 in 2012 (Rome)... street circuits make boring racing... not for the driver I'm sure as it requires a lot more focus and skill but for the viewer its just... boring!

I thought exactly the same yesterday aha!

Except I thought it was a good idea just for the hilarity

What on earth have they done? What happened to the white glow, now it just looks rather grey and meh. I hope this is just something on the photo...

When we be seeing the Mclaren?

Mclaren are sticking to the same, theirs is crome the Merc is not so it should be ok.

Plus the Mclaren looks silver when the Merc looks more white/grey than silver. It's a really light silver.

Points system to be changed again. 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1

It's the camera flashes etc. Close up shots show it to be properly silver, with a black and green finish - and GO FASTER STRIPES :p

Michael looks 30! It's ridiculous!

Can't wait to see this thing on the track, it was a mistake really to have a silver car in a black room
