Re: Back to the Future? - UPDATE DAY 5- EPCOT

Loving the report. Such a detailed yet concise version of events and it's just making my wish my summer holiday would hurry up! Although a 4 hour queue does seem pretty darn excessive. I love how people must turn up and think 'hmmm 4 hours? Got nothing else to do'. XD

Re: Back to the Future? - UPDATE DAY 5- EPCOT

^ Nope, I was chit chatting to AJ even during the ride because I never shut my mouth :p

Thanks Jordan! To be fair, you probably could wait four hours for Anna and Elsa and still have plenty of time to do everything else, but meh.

Since we weren't waiting 4 hours for Anna and Elsa, we took some photos of them from the doorway in the giftshop. Not quite as good, but better than waiting half a day in a queue.

Ah, Frozen. The movie I haven't even seen and has already irritated me. Anyways, fun trip report!

I haven't seen it either. Keep meaning to. I wanna see it with Nic. I imagine that'd be an experience ;)

Day 6- Magic Kingdom Day 1

In hopes of getting to the park for the opening ceremony at 8:45, we decided we would bypass struggle bus times that morning, suck it up and pay the cab fare to the park. When I got up, I called a cab pretty much immediately, demanding it be there by 8. After we sat there for a while, we realized no cab had arrived. Well, we called the cab company and the man was blabbing some **** saying I told him something different and to call a different cab company. AJ, being the gentleman that he is, called the guy a stupid bastard, hung up, and contacted Julia's taxi company who picked us up around 8:30. We really should have just taken the bus at that point since we were going to miss the opening ceremony anyway.

I used this time for a selfie.

SIGN!

Unfortunately the cab drove us to the Ferryboat, which was ridiculous considering we could have just been dropped off at the Contemporary resort, bypassed the stupid $15 parking fee that they charged our cab, and made it to the park earlier. But nope, it was struggleboat times for us on top of a $40 cab fee and no opening ceremony. Lesson learned I guess! Our taxi driver was also basically Precious from the movie Precious, and pretty sure she was struggling for air throughout the entire ride.

10154962_10153979137440343_1343966967_n.jpg

It was a cold morning and it was also windy on the boat, so me and AJ sat on the floor of the boat taking struggleselfies.

A winter coat in Florida? Eugh.

Finally we got to the park!

The stupid cranes were getting in the way of my castle photos, but we got plenty anyways, with and sans crane. We could tell it was going to be pretty busy considering it was already pretty busy by 9 and it was the only forecasted sunny day of the week </3

Instead of rushing to the rides, we watched the show they put on at the castle. We ended up watching it like three times that day, it was fab and totally tugged my heart strings :p

I thought it was an okay ride. I prefer the one in California. We waited about fifteen minutes for it which wasn't bad at all considering the lines got really long later in the day. Love the way the ride looks but not something I'd really care to reride unless they redid it like the one they just recently updated.

Splash Mountain was the next choice, which was probably a stupid decision considering we had just beautified ourselves at the hotel and were having bad flashbacks of all the water rides at Islands of Adventure, and also, it was about 55 degrees. It's not often you see someone with a winter jacket riding a water ride, but as AJ would say, #yolo.

1549548_10153979144680343_385801262_n.jpg

As you can see, the lines were really long... NAWT. Vast difference to how they would be on the Friday.

We were sitting in the front so we got a little more wet than we expecting, considering you get a light misting on the one in Cali.

10151364_10153979146220343_1056453344_n.jpg

I loved it. I've always thought it was such a cute and fun ride and the updates seem pretty good as well. Their batching is absolutely horrible though considering there's about a ten car build up at the station. Then there's the annoying audio that repeats "LOOKS LIKE BRER BEAR AND BRER FOX ARE CAUSING SOME KIND OF COMMOTION DOWNSTREAM. Yah yah, stfu it was cold and we just wanted to get off the ride at that point.

I was excited for our next stop which was Haunted Mansion. I had done this back in 2001 so I had almost no recollection of it, and when I did the one in California a year and a half ago it was themed to Nightmare Before Christmas, which was cool but I wanted to see how the original one was.

It's a great ride, I think. Nothing spectacular, but entertaining and enjoyable.

Next up was Fantasyland!

10013968_10153979149120343_1794677267_n.jpg

We were getting pretty hungry so we had some ratch-a-roni. We waited ages in line for it as well, and mine was an odd combination of macaroni, normal cheese, blue cheese, and balsamic vinegar. AJ got the bacon cheeseburger macaroni which is basically macaroni with burger toppings slapped on top of it.

1239546_10153979149210343_445862974_n.jpg

After that we waited for a guy to come bring us to meet Aurora, who AJ is friends with. I don't have any pictures of this occassion on my camera sadly, so you will have to deal with it :p

Queues were getting pretty damn long at this point, so we walked through the new Fantasyland, which is pretty awesome. Only downfall is we didn't get to eat at Be Our Guest because reservations were full all week and the line was ages for counter service, as well as the Seven Dwarves ride being closed </3

We went to the Storybook Circus area, which I didn't know was the replacement for Toontown or whatever the heck they use to have there. I still thought Toontown existed, but nah. AJ needed the Barnstormer cred and unfortunately it had a 45 minute queue, but we sucked it up because mah boi needed his cred!

We went back to the old Fantasyland since our Peter Pan fastpasses were almost ready, but not quite yet so we did PhilharMagic, which I can't say much about because I was so tired I fell asleep through half of it. It seemed pretty decent though, kinda wish I had stayed awake but it was a walk on so meh.

AJ's favourite ride ever in the whole world was next, and I have to say I'm not a fan but this one is way better than the California version which is literally like two rooms </3 At least this one takes you through Neverland instead of flying above it and then the ride just abruptly is over before it began.

I think we rode the Alpha side which was pretty fun. I don't know if I like this one or the California one better. There was a vast difference between sides though in my opinion, with one side being fun and the other being rough. I wasn't sure which side I went on in 2001 and AJ needed both creds but we decided to save the other side for Friday and use our fastpass for it again.

After buying a pretzel for snacktimes, we got in the queue for Tomorrowland Speedway which was probably a 35 minute wait.

10155438_10153979169655343_2092126939_n.jpg

10154171_10153979171720343_434939290_n.jpg

When we got back to the main castle area, there was something called Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It, which was a few floats and dancing. Pretty interactive with the characters and pretty fun also.

It was really cute and as much as I hate kids, seeing them being cute and not screamy whining messes was fab. Lumiere and the Wardrobe were also amazing. Definitely one for the kids but we didn't wanna miss it.

It was getting dark so we headed over to get a spot for the three night shows. Note that these are basically all of AJ's pics.

The Electric Parade was first, which was mostly a big fat MEHHH.

We were right in thinking that the park would be dead after the fireworks, and it definitely was, so we put our plan into motion which was to get most of the rest of the rides done. Unfortunately we were also dead, so after hitting up Pirates and Small World, we realized we were too tired to really enjoy the rides so we called it a night. Pirates is one of my favourite rides at Disney so I enjoyed it, but Small World is meh. Thankfully they weren't singing Jingle Bells like they did in California, but I was half asleep. Everything was a walk on except Space Mountain, but we didn't want to be zombies while we were experiencing Disney. Oh yeah and before the rides we also got some food and a hot drink since we were super cold. I think it was at Peco's cafe or whatever the heck it was called.

1510618_10153979177460343_553833036_n.jpg

Small World is a tough one because it's so cute and I want to like it but it seems to go on and on especially when we were as tired as we were.

We had missed our shuttle so we figured we'd get a taxi home. The guy at the entrance of the park told us to go to the Contemporary Resort and get a cab from there, which I wish we had done that morning, but we didn't know about it. NO STRUGGLE BUS OR STRUGGLE FERRY, but going to the Contemporary was another "here's what you could have had" moment! For a few seconds, we didn't feel like Ramada peasants.

Soon enough we were back at the hotel and I passed out fairly quickly since it was already like well past midnight and we had to be up for like, 5:30. Apparently I was all grumpy and rude to AJ while I was half asleep awww </3 Overall a good day, just a bit too busy. We got a lot done though and had a good time, but both decided we prefer Disneyland over Magic Kingdom. You do need two days to do the entire park though, I reckon.

NEXT- ANIMAL KINGDOM AND DISNEY VACATION CLUB LAWLS.

Day 7- Disney Vacation Club, Animal Kingdom, "Ratch Spot," and Cheesecake Factory

The day began early as usual, but today it began even earlier because me and AJ had to use the Disney Vacation Club for a free and hassle free ride to Animal Kingdom. They told us the presentation was about an hour and a half to two hours and that we would be there for opening. LIES. Either way, the personal shuttle picked us up at 7:30am.

1979609_10153986218435343_417556168_n.jpg

When we got there, we took full advantage of the free "breakfast," which basically meant that we stuffed about five packages of lemon cookies in our faces and an additional five into my purse for later use. Fabulous. Then our guide came.

1975066_10153986218445343_1325439056_n.jpg

After what seemed like an eternity of going through model hotel rooms and being explained stuff too and also getting my credit rejected, we told the guy we were interested and wanted to come back Sunday morning to sign up. We then got free ice cream and were off to the park, which we got to at about 10.

The park wasn't that busy and the queues stayed pretty moderate throughout the day.

First thing we did was Dinosaur, and I had almost no idea what it was.

10013673_10153986222260343_1302054852_n.jpg

We waited about twenty minutes before boarding, and the ride was pretty decent. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more back in my dinosaur enthusiast days fourteen or fifteen years ago, but it was still a good ride. The kid next to me was white knuckling it though haha. I can see how it might be scary for a kid, and it even caught me off guard because I didn't really know what it was.

We had a Fastpass for one side of Primeval Whirl, but it didn't kick in until later so we decided to suck it up and ride the side we didn't have a Fastpass for. That whole area is just gaudy and tacky to the max, which I know was the intention but it didn't seem very Disney to me at all. The ride is absolutely mediocre, the themeing is awful even though they accomplished what they were going for, and it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the park which is beautiful. We waited like 30-40 minutes for the ride, and I think AJ wasn't too happy with me because I had smooshed his head and thus his quiff when I pulled the restraints down because he had leaned over and I thought the restraints were individual, so I put mine down unknowing that it was coming down on AJ too. His quiff survived though.

Finding Nemo: the Musical was next on the agenda, and I have no idea why they have a Fastpass for this. I can't see how they would ever really need it. I thought the musical was pretty good for an in park presentation thing. It's not broadway bound by any means but I had a good time watching it. The songs were mediocre apart from a few, but yah, I'm glad I went to see it and I wouldn't recommend missing it anyway.

After this we walked to the Asia section, and we were getting pretty hungry so we went to eat at Yak and Yeti, but not before taking a few pictures of Expedition Everest and the surrounding area.

The food at Yak and Yeti was quite good for park food, and we just got the express one since we didn't feel like going into the restaurant bit. Sadly, a bug took a nose dive into my chicken and though I was disguted, I felt secretly bad for it because it ended up drowning and dying in my sweet and sour sauce :(

I loveddd it! I never watched a POV, and although I knew about the Yeti I didn't really know exactly what the ride did or what the layout was other than it went forward and backward. It's probably my favourite ride at Disney to be honest, and it blew my expectations away. We sat in the very back.

The park is so much more than just an amusement park, or as some might say it's a glorified zoo. Which, I suppose it is. We didn't want to miss the non-ride attractions that the park had, so we did the MAHARAJAH Jungle Trek since it was in the area.

I was DISGUSTED by the bats, because I had never seen a big bat before. I always thought they were all just the same size as fruit bats. To make things worse, the bat was giving himself fellatio, literally.

There were some pretty tigers and also some birds. It was funny because a lady was looking at the tigers saying "how disgraceful, that isn't right," while snapping about fifty pictures. Dork.

After the Jungle Trek, I snapped a closie of the Tree of Life because the carvings are fab, before making our way to Rafiki's Planet Watch.

Rafiki's Planet Watch was a bit **** really, it had a little petting zoo and some other random crap so we talked around for a bit.

When we got back to the actual park after taking the struggle train again, we realized a parade was starting so we sat down and watched it.

Unforunately the parade was a bit **** because it was basically just families who paid to be in the parade sitting in a jeep or on a crappy float. There isn't a whole lot to do in the park though so I guess it killed a bit of time.

We did the other side of Primeval Whirl after this, and we seen someone who looked like a member of CF in line for the ride. Guess who.

It's an okay show, better than the stupid Muppets 3D one at Hollywood Studios in my opinion. I don't like the part where the entire theatre fogs up though, because it made me dizzy.

It was back to Africa after that for some Kilamanjaro Safaris. The queue was 75 minutes so thank goodness for Fastpass <3

I liked the safari a lot. I was happy because, unlike most zoos, the animals were actually awake and doing entertaining things rather than sleeping in a faraway corner being burdenous. The giraffes being so close to our car was neat.

Jerry was due to pick us up in about an hour, so we headed to the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

We basically had the choice of re-riding Expedition Everest or doing Kali River Rapids. Being the vain twats that we are and it not being very hot out, we skipped the rapids. I remembered bits and pieces of them anyway and I remember getting really soaked too, so it's probably for the best that we didn't ride considering we had other plans that night as well. So we headed to Everest and waited the forty minutes to ride and chose the back again. The queue was pretty well done, too.

For those of you who have been on the ride, you will probably remember the bit where the train stops before it starts going backwards. Well, imagine SOMEONE letting out the nastiest fart and being trapped in the fart cloud until the train started moving again. UGH. Made for a funny experience though :p

We met Jerry in the parking lot and after he renewed his pass, we headed to Ratch Spot Orlando. We call it Ratch Spot and not Fun Spot because it is more ghetto than it is fun, and the clientele are a bit sketch.

We did Freedom Flyer first, which was not the best ride in the world obviously. The ride op was gross too. Me and AJ were jokingly slapping eachother's knee and he comes by going "WHOA WHOA WHOA, NOOOOO HORSEPLAY." We thought he was joking at first but, he wasn't.

1982158_10153986321340343_1186700949_n.jpg

We disgraced ourselves by riding the kiddie ride as well, which I didn't get photos of. Then we did White Lightning, which was certainly a pleasant surprise! My hair extensions almost came out </3

10150582_10153986322380343_1518357429_n.jpg

Again, poor pictures because AJ left his camera in the car and my camera takes bad night pictures.

We had a bit of time so we went into the arcade and played some games. I got my butt whooped at air hockey unfortunately, as well as football (who knew AJ could throw a football the way he did, haha). I kicked butt in the basketball and skeeball though.

HE DIDN'T WIN ME A PRIZE, THE SKANK.

After the park we went out for a nice dinner at Cheesecake Factory. We had some wine and beer as well as three appetizers, so once my main meal came I had like half the burger and couldn't stomach the rest which was a tad disappointing to me because 1) I eat like a man usually and 2) I didn't want to be so full that I didn't have room for cheesecake, but if I had eaten anymore my stomach would distend an unhealthy amount :p

Our waiter was GROSS and he looked just like my ex, but other than that it was a great night and awesome to see my JerBear again <3

I was pleasantly surprised with Animal Kingdom. People say it's a glorified zoo and a half day park, which I can sort of see because if you're only there to rush around and do the rides then there's not much to do. We were there from 10-7 and we didn't have a problem finding things to do all day. The park is also beautiful, although like every other Disney World park apart from Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios to an extent, it just didn't feel very Disney. Still, a great day!

Thank god someone else took the park for what it is.

People don't like it as when it's hot there is no shelter and no where to sit plus not many rides.

If you take it slow and just look around it's a lovely park.

I had a great time with Taylor and AJ at Fun Spot and Cheesecake Factory but I disagree with the park being ghetto, especially compared to places like Old Town in nearby Kissimmee (more on that later). Since I've ridden the coasters many times already, other than the kiddie cred of course, I played bag lady for our visit.
The coasters are $9 per ride and they were both going to get a ticket for each ($18 total), but I suggested that they just pay an extra $2 to get a $25 Fun Card instead ($20 total). That way they could get the kiddie cred, which is $3 on its own, and have an extra $6 each spend on go-karts, food, the arcade or other rides. They obviously chose the arcade.

It might seem like there's nothing special about Freedom Flyer, but it's not a standard Vekoma suspended family coaster. It's one of only two (along with Kvasten at Gröna Lund) currently operating that has a lapbar instead of an OTSR. It might not seem like much of a difference on such a small coaster, but it does make the ride more enjoyable and not the slightest bit painful - like Flying Ace Aerial Chase at Kings Island or Carowinds and Silver Streak at Canada's Wonderland. </3

As Taylor said, White Lightning is what makes going to Fun Spot America worthwhile (along with the excellent go-karts). So we saved it for last and both of them were pleasantly surprised by how good this relatively small GCI woodie is. Lots of airtime with a few nice twists and turns thrown in for good measure.

The waiter at Cheesecake Factory might not have been the best, but the food was pretty good. I also really enjoyed getting to spend a few hours eating, drinking and chatting with Taylor and AJ at someplace that has nothing to do with theme parks or coasters.

Oh no, not that picture! Haha, revenge of the pasty bitch </3

Yah I agree with you Jerry, Old Town was WAY worse, but this still qualifies as ratch. Certainly not ratch enough for me to pass up on the creds though. It seems like somewhere that could be a fun day out regardless!
