Expedition FART - DAY 7- Animal Kingdom, Fun Spot

As most of you probably know, me and AJ had a bit of fun in Orlando this month! He left on the 20th, and I was totally jealous because he got the Seaworld creds, but I couldn't get that day or the 21st off work, so I had to leave the night of the 21st. I arrived at the airport at about 6:30pm, had some beers, and realized I left my memory card at home which was really annoying, but AJ thankfully had a spare. The flight was really good and was only 2.5 hours long. Me and this one fab guy chatted for the entirety of it. Finally I landed and got on the shuttle, which took another hour, but then I seen the hotel and I seen AJ standing in front of it, woot. After hugs, we went back to the room which wasn't bad at all for the price we paid! Keep in mind that some of these pics, especially the ones taken at night, were taken by AJ. My camera doesn't work at night, so I STOLE (with permission, of course).

Since it was like midnight by the time I got to the hotel we just chatted and ordered a pizza.

Since it was late, we decided that it was bed time after our pizza was finished.

We got up at about 6am to beautify ourselves with a little bit of time to spare before the 7:55 shuttle arrived. It came a bit late as usual, but soon we were on our way.

The park was clearly pretty dead, so we started off with a ride on Rip Ride Rockit, which was a walk on.

1601075_10153965556905343_176219260_n.jpg

I thought the coaster was pretty decent. Nothing amazing, but definitely fun and rerideable.

We headed to Transformers next, which was also a walk on. The ride was as awesome as I remembered it being from my California trip!

1964846_10153965512600343_434963659_n.jpg

Next up was Revenge of the Mummy, yet another walk on. I didn't have super high expectations, but I did like the one in California so I figured I'd like this too. Well, it blew away my expectations for sure and is not really anything like the other one. We sat in the back and rode it two times. It was probably one of my favourite coasters of the trip.

10150542_10153965512880343_2044002086_n.jpg

Since we were starvin' Marvins, we went to Starbucks where AJ found his one true love: Passion tea sweetened lemonade. I hate how they get your name at Starbucks because not once out of three times did they get my name correct </3

1173797_10153965513795343_220670418_n.jpg

Disaster was next, and both of us had no idea what it was.

1965072_10153965513775343_1322750778_n.jpg

It is completely a wtf kind of ride. You make a movie and then go on the Subway train that use to be used for Earthquake to film the final scene. It was entertaining to say the least.

10009276_10153965535365343_1897627180_n.jpg

We wanted to see the Despicable Me characters after Disaster, so we made our way around to where the float was, which turned out to be the struggle but we eventually found it.

1511090_10153965516250343_2016952803_n.jpg

We got the Woody Woodpecker cred next.

1959721_10153965517605343_1417147500_n.jpg

Then took a minute to laugh at Curious George who was getting his butt douched.

1959314_10153965517935343_704401470_n.jpg

It was time to face my fear (for those of you who don't know, ET scares the Hell out of me). We walked on to ET the ride.

1380764_10153965518015343_741567566_n.jpg

Omg I hated the way his head was like peeking around the corner </3

1907309_10153965518385343_1064902417_n.jpg

And this sketch sign, which clearly indicates ET is a creeper and will steal children.

1926908_10153965518890343_1799271545_n.jpg

The ride itself was a bit weird, with a lack of ET but a plethora of a lot of other creepy characters. Not really a fan, but that's because he scares me.

We met Spongebob.

1959748_10153965548695343_812675071_n.jpg

We headed to Springfield to ride the Simpsons ride.

10150570_10153965520920343_1397194621_n.jpg

Simpsons was better than I remembered it. Definitely fun!

AJ was feeling somewhat queasy and we were pretty hungry, so we sat down in the shade for a bit to chat and eat a snack. I had a churro.

10012514_10153965521025343_1863928161_n.jpg

We rode Men in Black after about twenty minutes of relaxing. I didn't really like it because it spins for like, no reason, and I'm not such a fan of spinny rides. Plus, my score got annihilated.

1975165_10153965527060343_1655576351_n.jpg

The Superstar parade was about to start, so we got a seat on the bench.

1260853_10153965535285343_870783946_n.jpg

To be honest the parade was a bit ****. There were literally like, four floats. We were both starving by the time it ended so we left the park and went to Bubba Gump.

1622839_10153965543770343_877233649_n.jpg

The only ride that had a substantial wait was Despicable Me, which was really the only thing we had left to do. We waited almost an hour for it which I guess was worth it but we were growing weary of simulators by then!

1601075_10153965556905343_176219260_n.jpg

We got the meet the Minions!

10155459_10153965604710343_180670680_n.jpg

There was some sort of Mardi Gras thing going on so we just walked around the park and looked at some of the costumes (and the topless men).

1958531_10153965607770343_2021952521_n.jpg

The last thing we did was the Horror Makeup show, which was fairly decent.

1148883_10153965610230343_88313514_n.jpg

Our shuttle went back at like, 6:30 so we caught that with lots of time to spare considering everyone likes to be late. Once we got back to the hotel, we went to the liquor store to get some beer, snacks, and wine. We thought we were gonna go out but when we got back we just threw our pyjamas on and drank there. Unfortunately we had a nerd related incident where nerds spilled all over my bed and the floor. It was fun sleeping/stepping in them all week considering the maid never vacuumed them.

AJ being a goon:

And yeah, Terminator is the best attraction there by far!

Oh yeah, I did do Twister I just didn't take pics of it. Was pretty ****, the storm we had on Saturday was more exciting than the show :p . Marc, I did Terminator and Shrek in California, didn't like either.

We (the kid, wife & I) thought both Twister and Terminator were crap, but at least Twister made us laugh. Don't blame you for skipping Terminator at all and would recommend it only to anyone if they've done everything else and HRRR, Mummy and Simpsons were all down for re-rides.

Re: SIR, it is TOO HOT for a ROBE- Orlando Day 1 and 2 Up

Lmao Twister was funny, especially the cow. But we basically experienced Twister in person at Busch Gardens on our last day of the trip, just sans cow. Terminator hurt my eyes last time I went so we were like MEHH.

Day 3- Islands of Adventure

Woke up bright and early once again, and of course had to have my daily morning selfie.

We were at the park just after opening, and realized it was a little bit busy.

10153775_10153968883130343_1858988959_n.jpg

10152043_10153968883295343_1257153243_n.jpg

We went immediately to Harry Potter considering we thought that would get the longest queues of the day.

970839_10153968887270343_208884645_n.jpg

10154125_10153968888185343_1841517464_n.jpg

Honestly loved the ride. We waited 45 minutes for it which wasn't too bad because the queue moves really quickly and there's also lots to look at in line. Never seen a queue line where people stop to take pictures as much as in this one. I had no idea what the ride was to be honest, and I made it a point not to look much up before the trip so I could be surprised. It was incredible, as is the entire Hogsmeade area!

AJ bought his ridiculously priced Harry Potter robe as well as his ridiculously priced wand.

1011042_10153968889150343_1466482891_n.jpg

We then seen some random people singing with toads and decided to give Hippogriff a miss at that point since it had like a 20 minute long line. It ended up getting longer later, but we didn't know that it would at the time.

1509998_10153968890145343_1350561295_n.jpg

We also got some fudge which was Oreo flavoured and fairly decent.

1966739_10153968889935343_1807909284_n.jpg

Got some pics in Hogsmeade.

10014651_10153968890215343_1175859254_n.jpg

1185820_10153968890405343_904573350_n.jpg

I didn't get any photos of it, but we rode Dragon Challenge which was about a three minute wait for either side, plus the ten minutes it takes to walk through the damn queue. They were okay coasters, better than what I expected from them considering all of the bad things I've heard about them. I think I prefer the blue one over the red one, but they're both fairly similar. Shame they don't duel anymore. Sort of forgettable and the man at the lockers was a complete jerk. We got 30 minutes free and I was on my 29th minute when it was my turn to use the machine (I was queued up like any normal person) and he shoved his hand in front of me to press the screen and cut me. Of course, being the pansy I am, I let it happen and ended up having to pay for the locker. </3

There was a twenty minute wait for Poseidon's Fury, and both of us had no idea what it was so we queued for it after being assured by the rude queue attendant that it was not a water ride.

1456519_10153968891060343_517387486_n.jpg

Basically, this is what I thought of it:

1557646_10153968891360343_2013178807_n.jpg

It's just literally being like, shoved into room after room with some dumb bitch not shutting her big mouth. Then you go through a fairly cool water vortex which becomes uncool when it gets you cold and wet, into yet another room where Poseidon and some other weirdo battle in some tacky video and water show combination. Basically I hated it and I wouldn't do it again even if it were a walk on.

We went over to Hulk but decided that an hour was too long for it, and went over to Spiderman instead, which was also an hour wait but we used the single rider queue and got on in probably twenty minutes.

1012919_10153968892215343_1695069910_n.jpg

1960116_10153968892460343_865819925_n.jpg

It was pretty good and I could see why it was the main attraction back in the day. I think Transformers blows it away now obviously, but there is less movement on this one which I think is good for people who get queasy on simulators (like AJ for example ;) )

We then got some food at a burger place. This is where the guy told AJ that it was too hot for him to wear a robe and that is where the fab quote of the trip was born. <3 So once we got our burgers and sat down, AJ had an accident and spilled white milkshake all over his brand new $110 Harry Potter robe. I tried to show genuine human concern for his cloak, but couldn't hold in the laughter and basically laughed until I cried.

Trying to wash the milkshake out...

10003158_10153968893095343_1938997095_n.jpg

The comic strip themed area was SO CUTE; however, we decided to give all three water rides a miss for now because we didn't want to look gross and Dudley's also had like, over an hour wait. It wasn't that hot at that point yet also.

10153128_10153968893780343_904905866_n.jpg

10001375_10153968894055343_695743558_n.jpg

Jurassic Park also only had a ten minute wait, but we didn't want to get wet on that either, so we skipped it and headed back to Hogsmeade where we got the Hippogriff cred and took more photos.

1900084_10153968900370343_1591648115_n.jpg

After seeing that the milkshake would not wash out of his robe, he examined the robe further to find some weird threads in the fabric, which of course was the perfect idea to return the stained piece of **** and get a replacement one. Thankfully AJ is a sly dog and folded it in a way that the milkshake stains would be hidden <3

A lot of fashion faux pas at the park as well!

1010286_10153968895180343_526239309_n.jpg

I think after this we made our way through Suessland to the Hulk. Didn't do anything in Suessland which is a shame because it looked cute. We did snap a few pictures though.

It was finally time to go back to the water rides, so off we went.

1978653_10153968899260343_1684153427_n.jpg

I can't even remember when we did Hulk, but I think it was at this point? It claimed a 45 minute wait but I think we waited closer to an hour. We got the back row.

1524634_10153968896995343_535930443_n.jpg

1012925_10153968895840343_1216462399_n.jpg

The ride was good. I guess maybe it was a little better than average in my opinion. I thought the launch was a pretty cool touch and it wasn't super intense, but it was good fun.

First water ride of the day was Jurassic Park. It went up to a 25-30 minute queue, and although I didn't remember getting wet on the California version, we got pretty wet on this one. It was a fun ride as usual, nothing spectacular but fun anyway.

10151201_10153968901375343_1248451805_n.jpg

Probably one of the worst photos of me ever, after Jurassic Park which destroyed my hair.

10007505_10153968897920343_74824200_n.jpg

Our next choice was Bilge Rat Barges, and when I got to the ride I realized that trying to fix my hair after Jurassic Park was in vain because people were coming off absolutely drenched. Great...

10006203_10153968898305343_1282348353_n.jpg

The theming was very cute on the ride.

1456519_10153968903205343_1114372205_n.jpg

It was hilarious. There is NO way to avoid getting wet on this but I think me and AJ got the worst of it! As usual with raft rides, it was a really good laugh but we got absolutely soaking wet.

I didn't even bother fixing myself up before we got in line for Ripsaw Falls. It was about a 40 minute wait inside an ugly queue line with annoying music, but the ride itself was good fun. We were cracking up through the entire thing, as were the other people in the boat. I made AJ sit in the front because I am evil <3

10151414_10153968905955343_250199477_n.jpg

Basically we looked like drowned sewer rats after it. AJ's cement quiff FINALLY fell down after surviving Jurassic Park and Bilge Rat Barges. We took pictures of our drenched selves while we were waiting for a locker attendant to help us with our locker that "wouldn't open," but in reality we just had the wrong locker number and made ourselves look like idiots after insisting that our stuff was in a locker that it wasn't actually in.

10153721_10153968904305343_1837963848_n.jpg

My pants were so waterlogged that they wouldn't stay up.

1925337_10153968904015343_1238752541_n.jpg

For a third time we went back to Hogsmeade because the area is just so fabulous and we wanted MORE PHOTOS <3 This is arguably one of the best photos taken on the trip:

1966800_10153968906135343_894987864_n.jpg

We got Butterbeer also, which I decided I think is a root beer float with some sort of coffee flavoured stuff mixed in. It was very sweet, but pretty good.

10153093_10153968906810343_1031543732_n.jpg

After that it was time to leave the park. Islands of Adventure absolutely exceeded my expectations. I knew it was suppose to be a good park and well themed as well, but I didn't know the extent of it. It is somewhere I would like to go back to one day!

1508599_10153968918075343_49869658_n.jpg

There was another fashion faux pas in the parking lot.

1960012_10153968902120343_1262151412_n.jpg

When we got back to the hotel we just chilled with a few beers and snacks. The evil nerds also spilled about three times, once on my bed and twice on the floor. They stayed there the entire week because our maid decided she didn't want to vacuum.

Re: Milkshake Spillage- UPDATE DAY 3- ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE

I, like a fair few people, have been keeping up with a few things that AJ has been posting (and you have been posting tagging AJ in :p )

I love the trip reports and I love the pictures. Couldn't help but have a good giggle at AJ spilling his milkshake, out of interest how much was the wand?

This report is also making me look forward to my trip to Florida in the summer even more (107 days to go! :p ). Looking forward to more! :D

It was epic. At first I was like "oh nooo, it'll wash out," then I just burst out laughing and couldn't stop </3 He's lucky there were some choppy threads on the material so he could return it!

The wands were like $33 or something, which compared to the robe isn't too bad.

Best facial expression I've ever seen

Day 4- HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

The bus didn't come until about 9:10am, and this is when we discovered the STRUGGLE. If you're not staying on Disney property, it really is effort to get from park to park. We had to take the shuttle to Epcot first and then wait for another shuttle to Hollywood Studios like the PEASANTRY that we were. When we got there it was already pretty busy, and the lines for Fastpass were long (we didn't have our fastpass+ yet) so being stupid, we didn't even bother with Fastpass for the day.

We checked the lines for everything and everything was already really busy, so we just did the Muppets which was a walk on. I hate the muppets and the show was a bit blegh, plus me and AJ were looking forward to it ending so we could EAT <3 We starved for the first few days of the trip!

AJ went to get a Peter Pan tattoo by the gross and rude and gossipy Tiphany with a "ph."

We met Cars as well.

After getting our chicken sandwiches and burgers (which was sub par at best), we went to see Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, which was decent but not my favourite show ever. I remembered seeing it as a kid so I guess it had some sort of nostalgic value as well. It didn't help I really needed to pee either.

Right after Indiana Jones we went straight to the Stunt Show, which meant I didn't even get to pee. However, it was an awesome show and we lucked out with decent seats.

We met some of my personal faves!

1897913_10153972206580343_575770674_n.jpg

After getting sucked into a Disney Vacation Club booth and arranging a meeting with them for Thursday morning, we walked around a bit since the park was rammed. We went inside a building and seen some of the neat stuff they had on display.

1924445_10153972204755343_742290951_n.jpg

We sat and watched a video of some weird animation thing.

1536578_10153972205280343_1457546699_n.jpg

We got the Fantasmic deal where you get a buffet and reserved seating at the show. The food was pretty fab.

1511031_10153972206195343_888456747_n.jpg

We had a horrifying realization that we didn't really get anything done in the park so far, so we checked back at the Fastpass booth and realized they only had like, two things available, one of which was the Great Movie Ride. We took it, and the lady also signed us up for Fastpass+ to use for the rest of the week which was a saviour!

We went to see Beauty and the Beast next, which was fab even though AJ had to miss the first ten minutes of the show due to reasons I shall not share :p .

We realized that AJ's "week long guarantee" tattoo was already like, decapitated.

10154197_10153972210525343_2126816134_n.jpg

Since we had to do the big rides eventually, we sucked it up and queued for Tower of Terror. It was a sixty minute advertised wait and it ended up being just about that. When we got on, this girl was screaming and crying and the lady made her get off the ride, but soon enough we were on our way and we were both fairly nervous! It's definitely better than the California version <3

AJ bought a Tower of Terror bath robe (I guess he must like robes or something) from the gift shop and then we headed to Great Movie Ride to use our Fastpass, which would leave us with just enough time to get back to Fantasmic!

It was a great show just as I remembered it being. As far as comparing it to the California version, the stadium seating is definitely more desirable here, but I can't say which show I like better. They were both very good!

We headed to Rock n' Roller Coaster as our last thing of the night.

I love how Disney just doesn't care about you bringing your bags on and taking pics of the ORPS

The queue died to about half an hour after the show, which was fine for us. The ride itself was meh, the only thing I remembered about it from when I rode it before was that there was a light up donut, so AJ called me crazy and then we both laughed when there actually was a light up donut in the ride!

We snapped a few nighttime pics and headed back to the Strugglebus.

I liked Hollywood Studios but much prefer California Adventure since that's the obvious thing to compare it to. If we would have planned our day a little bit better as far as rides it could have helped as well, but we missed the Studio thing and Star Wars, which we weren't too gutted about (I've done both before and AJ did Star Tours before). Overall a good day!

NEXT UP- EPCOT

Re: Mud Butt Strugglebus - UPDATE DAY 4- HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

Okay I was waiting for at least one comment before I updated, but since everyone sucks I guess I'll just update anyway.

We woke up and I realized my hair was gonna be gross, so I threw on an ugly pattern-on-pattern outfit and put my hair up in a bun and decided it was officially "ugly day." Anyone who makes a joke saying everyday is ugly day is also predictable!

Soon enough we were at Epcot, which wasn't an extreme struggle since the shuttle goes directly there.

1524997_10153975512520343_1263941141_n.jpg

While we were in line, I took a sneaky picture of DANDRUFF HEAD eughh.

10151280_10153975513980343_236050355_n.jpg

The first thing we did when we got into the park was play some random game inside a building where you have to move pucks around to power cities. Very odd, but it was entertaining enough.

1959871_10153975515815343_2059808610_n.jpg

We headed over to Captain EO, and though AJ wanted it to be a surprise, I seen that it was something to do with Michael Jackson, so the surprise was basically ruined, but it didn't stop it from being a completely WTF attraction.

10168157_10153975516255343_659006698_n.jpg

This is what I thought of it:

485541_10153975516515343_1739714484_n.jpg

Since we were right there, we went to Journey into Imagination. It's not what I remembered it being from when I was a kid. Not sure if the Figment bit is new, but that was all completely a bit weird as well. We waited like 15 minutes for it I came off thinking like, who the Hell is figment, that he doesn't deserve his own ride, and what the **** is this park all about?!

WAT?!

They have a garden thing going on right now at Epcot, so we went into the Butterfly garden where there was somewhat of a lack of butterflies.

ME in front of pretty flowers.

1978879_10153975518265343_122787935_n.jpg

We then made our way to the World Showcase since it had opened at that point. World Showcase is pretty cool, but like AJ said, it seems to be more of a culinary thing for the parents rather than belonging in a place mostly geared towards children.

1239460_10153975518820343_1529018221_n.jpg

When we got to the Norway bit, we seen that the line for Anna and Elsa was 4 hours long so we gave that a miss without second guessing our decision. We rode Maelstrom though, which is a boat ride through troll-y places. It was random, but then again everything at Epcot is random. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit short.

10153002_10153975519245343_1103831974_n.jpg

Since we weren't waiting 4 hours for Anna and Elsa, we took some photos of them from the doorway in the giftshop. Not quite as good, but better than waiting half a day in a queue.

1458674_10153975520115343_73548064_n.jpg

There was also a little room which showed things that helped inspire the making of Frozen.

Here are some more pictures of random things in the World Showcase:

We were getting pretty hungry by then, so we went to "France" and had a bite to eat.

It was time to use our Mission Space fastpass, so we headed over there and grabbed our INTENSE boarding pass.

1524855_10153975525800343_1288603135_n.jpg

I thought the ride was really good, but it made me feel pretty ill. Like, it was actually really intense for a simulator! And of course AJ didn't feel queasy hardly at all even though he's the one who felt queasy on every other simulator. You'd think this would be the one that did him in, but no. The only downfall was that the restraint popped up so fast that it almost ripped one of the piercings out that I have beside my eye.

I wanted to do Turtle Talk so we went over there.

I liked the Turtle Talk in California better, but this one was cute as well.

They have an aquarium type thing inside the building, so we went to view the SPECIES OF THE OPENNNN SEAAAA #nemo

OMG the size of some of the sting rays and other fish is crazyyy. I was like, BLEGH.

It was time to dine with the bitches! I mean, princesses. So we went back to "Norway" to the Akershus buffet and dining hall.

1939411_10153975530320343_1272823752_n.jpg

They had it set up where your appetizer is a buffet and then you pick your actual dish from a menu.

1549199_10153975530775343_1459341463_n.jpg

Honestly the food was okay, certainly not worth $50 or whatever we paid each, but we were there for PRINCESSES! They march the kiddies around in a cute little procession and they also come around and talk to each table/take pictures for a bit.

I had mushroom ravioli and AJ had a stale sandwich. YUM.

The dessert was nom though, AJ had like one bite and I ate the rest.

After our princess dining experience, we took a few more pictures and then headed to do other rides, such as Nemo which was a walk on and a waste of fastpass, Spaceship Earth, and Test Track. Nemo was cute and was less drawn out than the counterpart at Disneyland, and Spaceship Earth was just another weird attraction in their lineup. We also took a lot of ugly photos in line for Spaceship Earth because we felt like it.

Since we had a few minutes until our Test Track fastpass, we were going to do Ellen's Universe of Energy, which we ended up skipping because it was a 45 minute show </3 So we headed to Test Track which is probably their highlight attraction.

1526411_10153975536655343_1055585503_n.jpg

I thought Test Track was pretty fun. I liked the whole element of designing your own car, which I don't think they had in the old one, or at least I don't remember them having it. Our car did pretty **** decent actually, for two people who don't know much about cars.

We skipped Soarin because we had both done the better version in California and we also weren't prepared to wait 2 hours for it. So we went back to World Showcase to check out the CANADA section, which is gross, and to go to the English beer garden to wait for Illuminations.

There were also MILLIPEDES on the wall blegh.

1173771_10153975538805343_1257336732_n.jpg

After a few beers and LOTS of pee later, Illuminations finally started. These are AJs photos by the way. What did I think of the show? Meh. I'd never wait that long for it again. It was entertaining enough, but award winning? HELL NAH.

The globe sort of just sashays out, chills for a bit, opens up, then peaces out with a few fireworks thrown in the mix.

After the show, we made our way back to the hotel and got to bed since Magic Kingdom was the next day and we had to be up bright and early! What did I think of Epcot? It quite literally is "back to the future," as in, it's meant to have a futuristic theme but it's about thirty years dated. Then the rest of the park is a huge stereotype of a bunch of different countries. NOTHING fits, but it still made for a good day. Does it feel "Disney" though? Not whatsoever.
