EPCOT New Attraction Being Announced Soon

Jason Voorhees

Hyper Poster
Acording to Inside The Magic, They say that EPCOT will announce a new attraction on Thursday!!! It's always good to know that my *2nd* favorite park is getting something new.

Some people say a new country. Most say specifically Austrailia. I do not see this because they do not have enough room in the country area for a new country, and knowing Disney they just would never take a country away. BUT if they did I wish it would be the USA and I know people come to Disney from all over the world, but Its like, a show and that's it. If not that then Canada, Just never really found anything to do in that area besides eat some delicious sundae's and watch squirels take napkins from the stands before the country part even opened (Yes I snuck in to Canada before opening of it MWAHAHA)

Then if not a new country I would like to see a cred, but them getting Seven Dwarfs at Magic Kingdom in 2014 makes that unlikely.

Any thoughts about this?

Australia has been nothing more than rumors for both Epcot AND animal Kingdom. Honestly I expect this to end up being much less interesting and cool than we think.

I'd Like it to be the Mt. Fuji coaster that was originally planned but I know better than to dream. Still Epcot needs a cred.

Plenty of space, if you care to look.
Compare the size of the pockets of trees, versus the average width of each existing country.
Attractions in the new countries can also extend further back behind the park, outside the park boundary.

-Between Japan and Morocco http://goo.gl/maps/31SR6
-Between Italy and Germany http://goo.gl/maps/zTVyX
-Retheme the generic "Outpost" section between China and Germany, could even fit two countries I reckon: http://goo.gl/maps/yydXB
-Between Morocco and France is just Trees and transportable buildings http://goo.gl/maps/blqrv
-International Gateway is just large expanses of concrete, grass and trees: http://goo.gl/maps/viRYN
-Other opportunities could include between Mexico and China: http://goo.gl/maps/AVyyP
-Between the USA and Italy is probably pushing it a bit though: http://goo.gl/maps/iWLIO

That's several countries potentially.

One country that's been tossed around as an addition for decades has been Russia.

However, I think this will be something in the front half as opposed to a new country in the World Showcase, as there's a lot of completely unused space in the buildings up there.

They need to remove or refuse the buildings that have been shut for years, so I hope something is going in one of them.

Yh, I hope it is a revamp of Future World myself, it's so dated and decaying. EPCOT doesn't NEED a cred, the fastest ride at WDW lives there, let it alone.

MAELSTROM EXPANSION! WITH BIGGER POLAR BEARS!

Called it.

I hope it's themed to being stuck in the 70s like the rest of the park.

Also, new Test Track is awful.

I know they recently announced a new restaurant on the waterfront for Morocco, really didn't see a new attraction announcement on the way. This is WDW though so the announcement/attraction could be something tiny and insignificant, lets not get our hopes up.

Cannot see it being anything big, but the park does need a lot of work and not more food places which they already have 20 theme parks worth if already.

That's Norway, and it's awesome so I don't even want to imagine them replacing it. (which also means no more Maelstorm)

And @rollermonkey, I was thinking about putting that in when I wrote this thread, but Russia would be one of the bigger countries, and then Gazza reminded me of the space, which I never noticed. I too was thinking about the Outpost as turning in to a country. Ideas that have been thrown around are Russia (as rollermonkey mentioned), Aussie, and I don't know why the heck but Taiwan. Taiwan actually wouldn't be a bad idea, they could have a mini structure of Taipei 101, some cool looking shops and Taiwanese food restraunts, then maybe like a farm or something like that. One thing I really want to happen is MALAYSIA!!! They could have Kuala Lumpur with the with miniature Petronas Towers and the Kuala Lumpur Tower, Malyasian shops and restraunts, also a miniature version of the Batu Caves, and then just more random cool looking buildings.

Does anyone agree with me on Malaysia in the Outpost? Would be absouloutly perfect for EPCOT. If they have room for 2 countries, they can put Singapore by it. Amazing.

Malaysia is an interesting thought, but if I remember my first trip to KL correctly, Batu Caves is kind of meh. Too many stairs, too much bat guano and not enough maintenance of the religious iconography.

Neat, they added a huge statue since I went.

^Sorry to hear that you didn't like it. Just curious, How was your visit and when did you go? I'm thinkig about going there in about 6 or 7 years (including Singapore).

Back on topic. Who knows, the HUGE anouncement could be, "WE'RE CLOSING WORLD SHOWCASE!"

It would have to be a fairly major country with obvious stereotypes. Russia or Australia could work, but something like Taiwan wouldn't stand out because your average yank doesn't know enough about it and it's too similar to China. I doubt they'd bother with another arabic or european country. I wouldn't be surprised if Africa was all shoved into one.

There are a lot of rumours that its figment that's going due to Kodak pulling out plus the 4d cinema. That whole building will either be removed or done up.

That would be a good move IMO. The dark ride was fun, but that whole area is very dated (more so than the rest of the park).
