I don't understand why a park like efteling would pick a b&m over a gerst? But I'm glad.
Because Efteling is run as a charity and is more concerned with quality for its guests and longevity of a ride than short-term cost saving for its shareholders. This is why they can build the world's most expensive dark ride, keep hold of old rides and nurture them and blow 2 million on a restaurant upgrade (thanks Peep for that fact). It's incomparable to a chain like Merlin.

But Merlin are buying B&Ms left right and centre, too.
Honestly, think about it more objectively, what are you really getting with a B&M dive machine over a Gerst Eurofighter?
B&M:
Capacity (Is THIS why? Both Efteling and Gardaland have insane attendance)
Longevity
Reliability
Gerst:
Cheaper
More customisation (potentially greater capacity if required??)
More variety in layout and ride experience
Lower height restriction
More intense ride experience possible
Perhaps Gerst's less than impressive track record is catching up with them now. Maybe Smiler was a bit of a nail in the coffin? Are there any new rides from them this season?
