Cedar Point | Siren's Curse | Vekoma Tilt Coaster | 2025

was up for a visit to my Mom’s the last few days, and swung by downtown for a view update. Status: it’s cold.

Also saw this photo floating around online, definitely changing some of the in-park sightlines!

Here’s a good vantage of Siren’s Curse, as relates to how deep it cuts into the midway. We knew it would be imposing to the pathway, but will change some fundamental sightlines, especially for MF.

Seeing it from this vantage – it almost feels a mirrored layout of the coaster would’ve been more fitting; you’re essentially sneaking up on the coaster when you enter the park, with the money shot of the first drop facing the back of the park. At least it’ll make for fun watching when sitting on the park benches at the train station.

For some reason I thought this was replacing the Tidal Wave type ride in the park, but this looks to be in a different area than I initially thought. What was there before this installation? Didn’t they demo the Tidal Wave ride (which, due to the lack of water rides in this park, I was totally against).

And yes, @Hyde I agree with you about the mirrored layout…this would have definitely stood out better if the tilt faced the front of the park, instead of facing away. Surprised that’s not something they put into consideration.

Either way I should be out to this park sometime in May, so I’m totally looking forward to giving this a go!

Wasn't really an option in this case, as the ride was already fabricated in this configuration. I'm sure they could have ordered a custom layout if they really wanted it, but that would have probably forced the project years down the line due to Vekoma's (allegedly notorious multi-year long) waitlist.

But considering the layout that they had available, I'd say they did well with it's placement (despite being right next to a dive coaster with a similar gimmick). That midway opposite of Iron Dragon was looking pretty dire last year, so having that interaction will bode very well. If they were smart, they'd sprinkle in some gardening/landscaping as well so it's not just concrete and curbing.

Replacing a water ride with a water-themed coaster would have made too much sense! 😜 of most recent footprint, this was where the lighting booth was for the Midway show performed on the stage opposite side of the causeway – all of which is removed at this point. A part of the property was also the old Cedars dorm, an employee lodging that was the park’s first hotel way back in the day. Going back further, this was the spot where WildCat operated.

And you’re right @MLDesigns - we were dealing with already built track so mirroring would’ve unfortunately never been an option. I still think this vantage will work, as it’ll still give a really cool perspective of the tilt track operation as you’re walking up to it. Agreed with @Hutch, this is still an upgrade from the previous, awkward positioning of a stage/audience experience that make for horrible bottlenecking when stage shows were performing. Also caused equal obscuring of Iron Dragon, which will be rightfully back on full display, and not suffer delayed operation during evening performance.

As for Snake River Falls (the removed splash boat), that remains a site of suspect construction, alongside the announced closure of Forbidden Frontier that puts the middle Millennium Island entirely up for grabs on developing. I guess we'll save that for the 2027 rumors thread. ;) coughAquatraxcough
