"Big Mack and Fries" - Thorpe Park, 29th September 2024

Ah, the familiar Post-Live glow. My cheeks hurts from smiling do often. My throat is sore from talking coasters all day. But I wouldn't have it any other way! ❤️

Thank you so much to everyone who came today. It was wonderful to hang out with you all at The Island Like No Other. Big rides and even bigger laughs!

As today was so lovely, I mentioned in the pub afterwards that I'm thinking of arranging a meet up at Plopsaland in December (forgetting that I am on tour until 15th December, oops)

I shall post a topic soon to gauge interest / dates and we can form a festive Plopsa De Planne from there :)

Thanks again for a brilliant day!

Now that’s what I call theme parking!

What a brilliant day it was floating between people having goony, light-hearted chats and getting to know one another. There were times when it could have been 2007-ish again (except with Swarm, Hyperia, less hair, bigger stomach etc etc) with the perfect atmosphere and cheerful, likeminded people. Thanks to David for the glasses-strap, I had forgotten mine and was resigned to sitting out or riding blind, so that made my day.

I never realised how bad I am at naming UK creds – I had Jubilee Odyssey as my Cred Head but it took me ages to narrow it down! However, it made the Inferno queue fly by! (Talking of which, Inferno seemed to really fly itself! Had a fantastic ride on it.) But that’s what I really love about CF meets – they’re never too nerdy and it really doesn’t matter if you can remember Jubilee Odyssey exists or if your coaster count is 25 or 1025, it’s about getting high on sugar and enjoying time at a park.

Thank you to everybody who made the journey and made the day absolutely tip-top amazing. I take my hoarse throat, tired legs and complete disinterest in work today as trophies of a fab day out. THANK YOU. And of course, thank you to Serena for, well, being Serena and making Thorpe blissful! (And I’m very proud to have been the Sexy Assistant for the Faffle.)

I look forward to the next CF Lives…

Thanks so much to @Serena for organising this and for making it such a fun day!

So many firsts for me... and it was just amazing.

Also thanks to lovely @Karen for (metaphorically) holding my very nervous hand on Hyperia and @Disco Lumberjack for letting me have the outer seat on The Swarm ;)

Unfortunately I had to leave a bit abruptly before the end-of-day reride of Hyperia which was a bit gutting - how was it? Hauling??

Anyway, lovely to meet everyone and looking forward to whatever comes next!

That was a very enjoyable day out - great to see familiar faces and new ones too 🥳

Highlight for me was the Hyperia train takeover, which was was pretty fab and great of them to accommodate us - the face of the guy when I said “20” as it went from horror to determination ( 20!!! 😱 -> 😏 hold my beer).

Thanks again to @Serena for the games / organisation (on behalf of everyone: **** King Pig’s Wild Hog Dodgems) and also @Slamming Coastercore for his roles as ‘associate cat-herder’ / ‘stoic ride-photo donkey’ (🫏😮‍💨🕊️😌).

What a start to an amazing day...... CF take over on Hyperia with a shout of "COASTERFORCE" (as demonstrated in 1 of the group photos 😆).
If it weren't for my 20something year old kids, I felt like I was in my 20's again at the old school meet ups. The catching up with friends and the meeting of new cfer's blended together to make for a brilliant CF-LIVE 👏.
Serena........you are an amazing person and great at organising a fantastic CF-LIVE! Name stickers, quizzes, games, sweets and FAFFLE! Kicking myself that I didn't bring something from Phantasialand as a prize. Ian, green is so your colour 😉.

I really hope it's not toooooo long to bringing on the next 1 🙏🤞🥳

P.s. Kaz cam is considering a return 🤔

I’m sorry I didn’t get to say bye to you properly! It was indeed hauling, that first ride was great but it really steps it up when warmed up. 😁

Two days later and I think I'm finally fully recovered. Thank you all for such a great day! Having been so long since my last park visit (not sure if I mentioned that to anyone?????) I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy it as much anymore but it was a blast and I want to thank you all for being lovely and welcoming, was like I never stopped gooning!

Quick run-through of my memories from the day:
  • Waking up early, getting there early and meeting everyone as they arrived
  • Getting blasted by Inferno's soundtrack and the lift hill motor while waiting for Hyperia
  • Working out the King Pig's Wild Hog Dodgems anagram
  • Finally being able to see while on the ride - tysm Mike for the glasses strap! Hope that gal in the evening Hyperia queue could get her hands on one too.
  • Ending a 5-year coaster fast with a train full of goons on Hyperia
  • Some wonderful queue line chatter - waiting for Nemesis in particular
  • "What the hell is Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs?"
  • Inferno giving a fabulously smooth and intense ride
  • Stealth was super punchy too - Serena may be right after all, idk...
  • Winning a coffee cup in the raffle and somehow fitting it in my bag without it breaking - had a nice drink from it this morning!
  • Some great rides on Swarm, Rush and Detonator too! TWD exists.
  • Playing that one House of Games picture round with a pen and notepad - might have to start sketching and open a forum games thread...
  • That second ride on Hyperia. Holy 💩. I may have needed a day of rest and a few paracetamol afterwards but it was all worth it for how insane it was running at the end of the day.
  • Singing along to Eat Your Salad at the top of our lungs on the way to the pub
Absolutely wonderful day, here's to the next one!

It's so lovely to read all your wonderful reports from our day at Thorpe. Glad everyone had a good time :)

I've started a topic for the CF Live in Plopsaland that we were discussing in the pub afterwards - Here
