When I referred to a haunted house, I meant something with a track like the former Gold Rusher at Kennywood.
What I'm getting is that Gold Rusher would be considered a dark ride, but probably not what is typically meant when the term is used. Rather, the term tends to mean something more like...
I've ridden:
Volcano
Storm Runner
Maverick
Dragster
Ka
Wicked Twister
I'd say Storm Runner followed by Dragster. I wanted to love Maverick, but some of the lateral Gs and rotational motion were excessive and unpleasant. (This is a gripe that I have with a number of Intamin coasters.)
VR would have to be done in a way that doesn't slow loading times. This is the biggest obstacle I see, and I don't know a way around it.
As far as the experience goes, I think VR might not be the way to go. I think "augmented reality" (like Pokemon Go) would usually be the better option. In...
I get that there can be differences, like how It's A Small World is a dark ride even if not a haunted house, but when the term "Dark Ride" is used in the present day (particularly with Cedar Fair and "Triotech dark rides"), what is meant?
I tend only to ride coasters when I go to parks, so I...
Re: Mean Streak to get Meaner in 2017?
This might be more exciting than Kate Upton.
The current record is 197 ft, so the record almost has to get into the hyper range. I made hyper woodies in RCT and then in NoLimits, so I like the idea if it's done by a good manufacturer like RMC or Intamin...
Re: Mean Streak to get Meaner in 2017?
I have a hard time believing that it won't be an Iron Horse conversion. Not that our chatter matters, but we've known for years that Mean Streak is the perfect candidate, so they must know as well. After all, it's absolutely massive and looks like it...
Its meh reception was by us snobs who wanted a launched Iron Horse Mean Streak instead! All I'm hearing is that Valravn is a popular ride.
The advantage of a B&M dive coaster over a Eurofighter or El Loco is that the cars are (usually) wide and allow 8-10 people what must be a terrifying view...
The RMC zero-G inversions are great. I've only been on Wicked Cyclone (so far), but the zero-G stall and zero-G rolls were excellent and gave me zero-G moments that I don't get with the B&M equivalents. I liked the upside down view combined with the weightless feeling, but it's not hangtime...
Dorney was the first park to come to mind.
I'd like to see the parks with Morgan hypers get gigas to pair with them, especially Dorney. They're in such a tough spot, though, because they're drawing on the same population as either or both of Hershey or Great Adventure, and those are some of the...
@lachlan
Millennium Force is about my second- or third-favorite coaster, so I'm not complaining about the contract going to Intamin. I'm just surprised that it didn't go to a company that had more experience with huge coasters like Arrow had with inventing the hyper and building a few others, or...
Inversions
Airtime
Airtime moments---I say that this is something like El Toro's Rolling Thunder hill, while the above is a whole coaster
Launches
Night rides
Beautiful coasters (so Mako)
Interesting that I just saw this article.

I'm guessing that we have some different thoughts on what the best new US coasters are.
The difference between us and the GP is knowledge. It's not that what we like is better than what the GP...
Midway through Twister at Knoebels, I started wondering if there are any chiropractors in central PA.
This isn't quite what you mean, but I got stung by a bee on Nitro when we were on the final brake run.
El Toro, I've heard, hits -1.7, and while it's tight, I have ridden the coaster many times and don't remember any pain.
Double the Skyrush contact area and use material with twice as much give (such as NERF). That should reduce the pressure to a quarter of what it is now.
(There's twice as...
I didn't put this in Q&A because it's almost a rhetorical question, although if some of the senior members (or anyone) have insight, I'd definitely like to hear it.
When Millennium Force opened, Intamin had built one hyper, and it had only opened the previous year and for Six Flags, meaning...
I rode Skyrush last week. After riding for the first time last July and not seeing anything wrong with the restraints, my recent rides were fairly painful. They might be new, but not for the better.
Serious question: why can't the harnesses be covered in Nerf-like material to cushion the...
