    Favorite Steam Train Ride

Pretty sure that's a roller coaster and not an actual steam train, but whatever.

Rank the regions in the US for best amusement/theme parks

Re: Rank the regions in the US for best amusement/theme park Top 5: California Pennsylvania Ohio Florida Texas Even if California were split between Northern and Southern California, Southern California would still be #1.

    Attraction Rankings

Thanks. The current top-rated roller coaster on my list is Fury 325. It's just something fun (for me) that I like to do. It's definitely not because I'm making any money off of it, that's for sure (even if I did, firsthand accounts of the rides are still going to be valued the most). Also...

    Attraction Rankings

Here you go, Chris. What you see are all of the roller coasters from the parks you listed that have an above average overall score (currently, the average is 2.50 out of 10). I'd attach a screenshot, but it says the board attachment quota has been reached. Name Location Country Ranking...

    Attraction Rankings

The main issue I have with that is that opinions of hardcore park enthusiasts on a specific ride are not always consistent. If one person who has ridden 1,000 coasters says Ride X is the best ride ever, but another person who has also ridden 1,000 coasters says Ride X is just mediocre, both are...

    Attraction Rankings

The age component is one of six separate components used to make up the scores for roller coasters. If it gets a low score in the age part, it can easily compensate for that if it is really tall, really fast, etc. The ones that seem to get hit the hardest when they have a bad score for their...

    Attraction Rankings

In terms of the average opening date thing, I'm examining roller coasters the same way an average person would see cars in terms of their age. Newest ones held in high regard, the exceptionally old held in high regard, and those nearest the mean age held in low regard. In any case, the age is...

Well, you could easily look at the tab with all of the roller coasters listed individually and simply show only the ones you have ridden to see which one ranks highest. If you want, you can give me a short list of roller coasters you like and I will do a snapshot for you to see how my...

UK Referendum on EU Membership for 23 June Announced

That .gif was pretty clever and I liked it overall; however, it lost me when it said that one of things the EU has done is bring peace. Technically, that distinction belongs to NATO. Until there is a true united and centralized European Military Command, the EU cannot truthfully claim that it...

Great Places with Rides, But No Roller Coasters

Here's a neat place I discovered just today in England: Fawley Hill. It's the private residence of Sir William McAlpine, who has saved a number of steam locomotives in the past including the Flying Scotsman. On his property, he has a standard gauge rail line (supposedly the steepest in Great...

Great Places with Rides, But No Roller Coasters

I think you might be right on that one. Because they have steam trains and vintage carousels, it really popped up on my radar. I would be especially interested in checking out the Mr. Field's Steam Circus, a very old carousel dating to the late 1870s and claimed to be the oldest...

Great Places with Rides, But No Roller Coasters

This topic may turn out to be a wall of posts stating "Epcot," but whatever. Also, it doesn't have to be a theme park. It can be a city park, museum, mall, you name it. It just has to have at least one ride or attraction commonly found in a theme park or an amusement park.

Okay: http://rcdb.com/3747.htm The stats for the height and length from that advertisement are on the link, but not the crazy speed stat. No idea who made it, but its Wikipedia article says Vekoma made it (no source for that was posted, though). ??? I did say kph.

    Filthy Theme Park Liars

Here's a good one from Suoi Tien Park in Vietnam. Who knew a roller coaster with a conventional 30 meter-tall lift hill was capable of going 120 kph? If it were true, it would be the third-fastest roller coaster on Earth and the #1 fastest unlaunched one.
