Hey all! It's been a while since I've posted one of these here. My top 20's changed quite a bit since I last posted, so I hope I'm not too late to count toward the big sitewide ranking.
Voyage - Oh my goodness gracious. Over half a year later, the thought of it still brings tears to my eyes.
Iron Gwazi - Finally got on this one last month, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Incredible ride.
Intimidator 305 - My old #1, still going strong in the top 3. I305 is my ride or die.
Steel Vengeance - Yep. That sure is Steel Vengeance.
Skyrush - What a ride. I haven't been on it for a couple years now, but it left such an imprint on me that I'm 100% sure of where I rank it, even now.
Velocicoaster - Probably the most "good" ride in the world. Just pure fun.
Fury 325 - One of the best examples of coaster layouts as an art form.
Phantom's Revenge - The absolute shock of going over that station hill for the first time is still almost unparalleled.
Pantheon - The ride that's grown on me most during a park day. Morning rides had this below Raven, but evening laps elevated it very far.
El Toro - I so badly want to put this lower than I have it. There are so many things wrong with this ride, but the air is just so good.
Maverick - This must have been world-shattering in 2007. Any time I hear a railroad crossing sound effect I get transported to that second launch.
Phoenix - Beautifully preserved, and with all the air in the world.
Twisted Timbers - Some of the best pure air ever, and on some of the best rolling stock.
Storm Chaser - Violent in a way that Twisted Timbers isn't, but also feels segmented and less coherent.
Ravine Flyer II - Artful layout, and with the air to back it up. Need to get back here for sunset rides.
Flying Aces - Like a more elegant Skyrush. I love the roll at the end.
Jersey Devil Coaster - Janky and a little weird, but aren't we all. I love that station setup so much.
Raven - Second best coaster at Holiday world, with the best drop in the park. I will die on both of those hills.
Lightning Rod - I'd say something mean about this ride, but my placement is mean enough. Not a fan of the layout. Love the quad down, though.
Mako - Five seconds! I mean, five whole seconds! How the hell did they get it to do that?
I do enjoy writing little comments by my rankings. I've been on Discord a lot more recently, and you don't much get to do that with that platform's smaller and faster messages. Coming back to the forums, I remember why I stayed here so long in the first place. I can type as much as I want without risk of the conversation topic changing. I haven't been on here a lot as of late, but I think that'll change in the coming weeks. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy writing longer-form posts.
Wow, listen to me ramble. I'm starting to sound like some of the old farts on here. I've been reading up a bit on what I've missed here, and I'm glad to see that this place hasn't changed one bit while I was gone.
I should wrap this little editorial up. This is the rankings (!) thread after all. I'm proud of my 2022 final rankings, and here's to a great 2023!
