Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Something BIG is coming...

Sorry Ethan, I downloaded Mammoth when you released it, I just forgot to put my comments here! Apologies!

I liked it, it reminded me of Hollywood Dream with the smaller hills and twistier transitions and stuff. It was smooth, pretty well made and overall a good ride! Nice stuff.

Your new one looks like something similar, but hopefully you're not stuck in a rut. ;)

This is why I hate the autoflanger <///3

I always think it's important to actually study how flanges are used on coasters. You'll start to notice a pattern on how they're actually placed. Once you start to get the hang of it, the auto flanger becomes blindingly obvious. You have a bunch of flanges near the tops of supports, which as you can see from the picture, don't happen.

Don't forget, B&M want to keep the support pieces as LARGE as possible. The bigger the pieces, the less they have to transport + errect = lower cost.

Also, cross bracing isn't used as much any more.

On Leviathan, its used on only the two tallest supports. On Shambhala, its used only on one:

Summit looks amazing and I love all of your rides, I have a high standard for realistic B&M's and both of yours are outstanding.

Summit looks really Leviathan-inspired, with its premature end brakes and some distinctive turns.
Realistic and smooth, it's very well done. Only thing I disliked was the overbanked turn's shape, too rectangular I think.

Great sound editing by the way (seems it was taken from Leviathan's POV ?)

Yep, well spotted! Thanks for the feedback too, I have never been too satisfied with the overbank but I gave up after a while :)

I will upload the track soon!

Smooth, very realistic and the supporting was nice.

It's very generic though. I know that is what you were probably going for, but you'd have added a unique turnaround or added in a helix, I would have enjoyed this more.

But I can't fault your trackwork. 8.5/10.

^I agree! Shambhala has slightly re-invented what we expect from Hypers and all though this was good, it was certainly very generic.

Again, I can't fault your building, the layout just lacked a bit of 'oomph' for my liking.

7.5/10

Ok thanks guys I can see where your coming from, and I did think the same when designing it. At least it's something to consider next time so cheers! :)

Is this an Intamin?

Sorry to get down on you on supports again.. but using bi-rail track generally needs a LOT of supporting. Just take a look at Cheetah Hunt:

A smaller amount of supports is fine if the coaster doesn't use a lot of force, but judging from the banking of that turn in the first picture, I'd say it needs much more, or change the support type. Look at Kawasemi's supporting on the last turn:

And finally, Jet Rescue:

Other than that, looks good :D
