Worst park for pinning

This stems from the exciting second Kumali train topic in Q&A.

During my numerous theme park travels, I've sat in a lot of ride seats and been restrained by well trained operators.

It's my opinion that Flamingoland are the worst park when it comes to "pinning", that's where a restraint is forcefully checked and pressed upon the rider by the operator. In other words, they'll squash your nads and make it difficult to breathe.

Tell me your pinning stories and name the worst culprit.

I'm going to have to say G Force at Drayton. My restraint was comfortably secure (if that's even possible on G Force), but then the ride of felt the need to slam it into me, to the point where it felt like my hips were being crushed and I could barely breathe. To be honest, it was one of the most uncomfortable rides I've ever had, and it seems to happen on a regular basis on that ride...

Don't think I can name whole parks that do it but it's easier for rides.

Silver Star is one that comes to mind. Just ask Joey. :P The staff go round every seat pressing the bars in further.

I can't think of many more though apart from G-Force. At most parks the staff just brush their hand against the seat belt and consider it 'checking' the restraint.

Cedar Point tbh. Obviously, my visits there have been much more numerous but I find myself pinned more on an average visit than I did at any other park.

The Black Pearl at LWV brings a hole new meaning to the word pinning.

(nothing to do with ride ops, I know)

G Force has tight restraints, but that's more a flaw with the restraint system rather than the ride-ops' eternal quest to stop people breathing.

I'd have to go with Ian on Flamingoland. They do seem to love pinning people. Blackpool try their best to pin people on most rides too.

It seems that you don't get much pinning at the larger parks. Alton Towers generally just tug the seatbelt. Maybe they push down occasionally, but I think it shows that the whole pinning routine really slows down throughput. On Nemesis, it's a quick seatbelt pull for 32 seats and the train leaves quickly.

Have to agree there. Whenever I worked on a coaster/flat, I always used the rule of "pull" rather than everyone's "push-pull". That's to say I made sure it was locked, since the rider knew they were comfy (unless they asked to be pinned).

And to be honest, I know very few people who want to be pinned. The only person that comes to mind is my roomie.

FL in general Ian, or specifically Velocity?
Kumali to be precise, although I've been pinned on Velocity and Cliffhanger as well.

Tbh, I don't mind being pinned on coasters but i do on drop towers. Part of the fun of DTs is the floaty airtime, which is redundant when pinned.

Sea world Orlando on manta they pin you so much :(

Silver Star at Europa a number of us were pinned to the point of pain.

Sometimes in Pleasurebeach it's bad. PMBO especially, they let you leave loads of room on Nash though <3

Minor_Furie, what a ****!

On any ride where we shared a lapbar, he'd always pull it down so it was tight on his scrawny little body, which meant I was also cut in half by it. He's a little ****! ;)

lol Furie.

Other then G-Force i would say i have had bad pinning from all Vekoma SLCs I have rode, I have only rode JO, Kumali and InFusion but all of them have been near nut crackers.

The worst I remember is at Bobbejaanland, on Dizz. Now, bearing in mind that a few days before we'd all (for some unknown reason) put ourselves through that horrible high-ropes course and were thus aching from it a couple of days after. We were all really, really tender. Anyway, we sit down on Dizz and these evil ride ops literally slam the restraints into our legs. Ouch. I literally yelped, was horrible </3

^I remember that, and to add insult to injury the ride was made of mediocrity...

Worst I've got is front row Th13teen. Stupid man literally put all his weight on it, and it just hurt my hips so bad :/

When I went to FL, I didn't encounter any pinning issues but maybe it was a once off :D

The only occasion I can think of where I've been squashed into a restraint was one time at Alton Towers when I decided to queue for the front row of Air. Unfortunately the ride op chose to close the restraint as far in as possible and whilst I still enjoyed my ride, I'd have preferred a little more room to breathe.
