What's new

waterparks?

I do really like waterparks, but I'm not a huge fan of standing in the baking sun, with nothing on, for a long time just to ride some slide. When waterparks aren't that busy, they're brilliant.

To be honest though, I'd rather do a theme park I think. Not sure, depends on where I am.

The worst ones are the near vertical slides. I did one a few years back and there were like, fifteen people watching at the bottom. I got a huge wedgie up both cracks, which was embarassing.

I love water rides. However, I'm afraid to go under water, and water rides usually have horrible capacity. This means I don't end up going on half the rides, and then I spend about an hour waiting for a damn tube on the other half. Plus the pathways burn my feet, the water is often cold (unless you're in a hot state like Florida), and changing is annoying. So I rarely go to them. Now and then, you can get me into Hurricane Harbor or Blizzard Beach or something.

I'm actually a massive fan of water parks...I even planned a stopover in Dubai just to visit one (Wild Wadi) and If I'm on a coaster trip I'll try and make time for any decent water parks along the way.

To me a good water park is just as fun as a good amusement park, so I guess I differ from most enthusiasts in that respect.
I've got a couple of water parks down the road (Whitewater World and Wet 'n' Wild) I try to hit every now and then....I'm actually quite excited at the moment because Aqualoop (A set of 4 of those looping water slides )open in around a months time at Wet 'n' Wild: http://www.parkz.com.au/update/2010/08/12/#247

I find waterparks great, probably because i love swimming, and even prefer them to themeparks sometimes, but my favourite water park is Aphrodite Water Park in Paphos, Cyprus. Great slides, and no queuing !

I associate water parks with sun burn. I genuinely enjoy them when I'm there but don't really look forward to going. Not sure why, I'm a reasonably strong swimmer but I think I just don't feel incredibly safe on the crazier water slides - I went on one of those kamikaze/really steep water slides once and all I can say is never again, one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

^That water park is excellent. Went there in 2009. Really liked the park, except for some of the paths which was like walking on razor-blades! Yeah, the slides were great and the crazy river thing (I forget the name) was great fun.

water parks are key for a hot day :p In Canada we have a sick indoor one called Great Wolf Lodge it has some slides :D

The Diseny ones are also cool they have a sick wave pool at Tyhoon Lagoon and America s fastest water slide at Bliazzard beach u go up to 60 mph XD

yea overall water parks are an important part to a good theme park :)

This topic has reminded me of the water park in Rhodes, with my favourite slide I've ever been on in!:

The airtime you get on the middle and left slide is just insane!
On the slide on the left, there's a helix just after you land as well, and it feels like you're not going to make it!

I feel ill Mike... The idea of that seriously scares the crap out of me

In a water slide, your butt should remain in contact with fibre glass every inch of the way!!!

That looks amazing Mike!

I do really like waterparks especially the Orlando ones, they just seem to have gone that extra mile with the theming, I like the submersive experience, with caves and waterfalls and stuff.

I'd really love to do Splash Landings, maybe next year =]

Splash Landings is kind of... crap... to be honest with you. Apart from the Master Blaster which is pretty great, the rest of it is pretty much stuff you could find at any leisure centre.

Holy ****, I didn't see the video until furie said this, but I agree with him now. I feel much safer in my roller coasters with their upstop wheels and whatnot. :)

I'm not bothered by waterparks in the UK as they're usually crap and full of chavs.
I love Siam Park though in Tenerife. It's made of so much win. The themeing is insane and the flumes are amazing. The Dragon is the best slide I've ever been on and Tower of Power was quite scary when at the top lol.

In this video you can see the level of detail they go into with the themeing.

Or if you'd rather prefer pictures I've dug out a couple of trip reports so you can just gaze at how beautiful the park is. :)

Some are great.

Some are not... Blizzard Beach for example is an amazing waterpark along with Typhoon Lagoon and Honestly I am from ohio and we have a couple alright ones, Cedar Points Soak City and Kings Islands water park are fun as well as The Beach which is a little north of Kings Island On 71, and Zoombezi Bay Right here in my home Bustown Ohio. aka Columbus.
