Walk around an Exhibition

So we have topics for reading/music/film/theatre and today I went to an exhibition, then I thought we didn't have a topic for this! It be good for anyone in London or other cities to inform of anything interesting on.

Today I went to the Museum of London to see the London Street Photography exhibition, it was a free entry and popular as I found out last week at my universities attempt to visit it.
It was laid out in chronological order and showed a slow development of street photography from early documentation right up to the modern day digital photography. I'd recommend it to anyone in the area who likes photography as it shows a developing London full of characters and history.

I don't know if it is still going but about 2 weeks ago i went to an album artwork exhibition in the oxo tower. It was quite small but enjoyable all the same. The highlight for me was biffy clyro, only revelations original which was good. The low light was most of the pink floyd artwork already having been sold.

If your passing by it's a good way to spend 20 minutes.

Then we went to the Tate which was awesome as always and admired street art in-between the two.

Well, working in a Museum I see Exhibitions all the time.

We currently have one called "Return To Brambly Hedge" and it is based on the Brambly Hedge books written and illustrated by Jill Barklem. Apparently they were massively popular in the 90s and even spawned their own TV series...

Anyways, the exhibition showcases a lot of the memorabilia that was released and also has a wildlife aspect using some of our extensive taxidermy specimens.

The books were inspired by the wildlife of Epping Forest so it has local links and in general is a sweet little exhibition that is popular amongst families.

In similarly exciting news, I've been to the Keswick Pencil Museum. Mainly to make Dad jealous because he's been banging on about it (in a piss taking kinda way) ever since he saw it listed in the book "Bollocks to Alton Towers".

[ Ok this is also posted as part of a TripReport thread, but ]

Wandered around 2 musuem type thingies in Arhus the other week;

First up the modern art musuem;

ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum http://www.aros.dk/

ARoS

Which I rather enjoyed. I do like a bit of modern art, and this place had rather
a lot of the stuff since it was pretty big.

ARoS Inside

I particularily liked the "Get Lost" exhibition of Fredrik Raddum's stuff

The museum has a couple of 'signature exhibits', firstly this Boy by Ron Mueck
(which wikipedia tells me was originally exhibited at the Millenium Dome)

and up on the roof of the place is a panoramic walkway that gives you views out
over the city all through various filtered coloured glass. Plays havoc with the
cameras white balance though!

Your Rainbow Panorama (Purple/Red)

Tried a bit of HDR in there, ughhhhh

Your Rainbow Panorama (Yellow/Green)

But panoramas worked;

Inside Your Rainbow Panorama Panorama

Its called Your Rainbow Panaorama and its by Olafur Eliasson.

So I really liked ARoS - good work Arhus.

Den Gamle By (The Old Town) is a bit of one of the local park's set aside to
house all these (genuine) olde-worlde Deanish builings. The place itself is 100
odd years old (and some of the buildings a few hundred more) - they regularily
move buildings from all over Denmark to here to retain that history. Cool!

Anyway was a pleasant place to stroll around for a few hours looking at the
various buildings and failing to understans anything that the costumed characters
that populated the place were going on about.

The last exhibition I remember going to is long gone, but it was a Tim Burton art exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. It was a great exhibit, and while it did have memorabilia from his movies it had a stronger focus on his sketches and sculptures and the sort. He really is a fantastic artist.
