VIP Merlin Annual Pass

It's turd on a stick, as if people of have MAPs NEED unlimited fast-track when they go all the time anyway. £500? Shove it up your arse, Merlin.

Considering the price of an Unlimited Fastrack is like £200 a pop these days, people will mop it up (for needless reasons of course, what with the unlimited visits over the year, but there's bound to be people and goons getting these)... Families of 4 buying Platinum Passes is one of the most hilarious things I've seen at a park...

Premium product at a premium price is what we want to see rather than something for the mass market... If this was less than £500 and not limited to 1000 then it would end up with a whole load of people buying it and making life worse... I've seen MAP holders being allowed to use Fastrack queues, it was awful... It will be interesting to see how many take up this offer, which was clearly wanted as a result of the countless surveys Merlin do...

A fair few nice extras on it though must be said with the Backstage Tours and what-not... In a weird way £500 (As an intro price, it's BOUND to rise with demand) is a reasonable cost... Not something I'd spend on it, but I'm sure some will...

Making the Standard Pass completely worthless though...

when they say global - does that mean you can use it in their German and US parks etc? I'd gues so - but it doesn't say that on the site!!

I would think so dan. There will be more details before they go on sale in March, so will likely highlight the parks abroad, as well as more details about the experiences and behind the scenes stuff.

Love how they the special contests are so special they have to name them twice!

I'm sure that there are 1,000 people would would be willig to pay for it, but for £500, I would expect the absolute bollocks from Merlin, and I don't think they could deliver that, despite all the talk.

It'll sell out. Fanboy idiots will buy it purely for braggging rights, despite it being largely useless and completely pointless for regular visitors who've ridden the **** out of everything already.

International parks look good, but they are pointless as the sort of person who'll buy this would have trouble getting themselves to Blackpool on their own steam.

I'd guess the advantage for Merlin of a international pass is it might help them get footfall in their new Florida attractions like Legoland, that big wheel and Sea-Life. Because people aren't really going to go of their own steam!

Bingo! I could not justify spending £500 on this when I've ridden the coasters tonnes of time before, only visit on quiet times (with the exception of GhosterForce). I'd rather ride than have a backstage tour. But if you've got the cash - and presumably the people you visit with will also have the pass - then good for you.

I buy a MAP yearly because it makes sense; six visits and I've "made" my money back. Despite being a massive goon who loves the UK Merlin parks, this VIPMAP doesn't interest me.

Okay Erol, I'll be the one who ask, when usually I'd ignore such a comment and roll my eyes.

What do you know that we don't all powerful, great and knowledgeable one?

tbh, the VIP MAP is basically a premium pass with a couple of extras! I mean, you don't get too much more than a premium, nothing to justify the price!

Stupid. I would get so bored of the creds. Oh wait, I already am.

I haven't had a pass for years but just had a look at the site - the standard one is ridiculous! You might as well not bother.

Where did you pluck that one from?

Prices from current website:
Alton towers - £90
Thorpe - £70
Chessy - £60

or were you talking for all parks?

I admire the "sense of urgency" they are marketing this pass for. By putting a "limit of 1000" it creates the feeling of exclusivity as well as the need to buy now before they sell out.

Considering the 4 theme parks do close to 8 million guests (assuming about 2 mill per), that would mean that only .0125% of their guests would have this pass. I got to imagine that they could handle higher sales then that but still, 500,000 pounds or $826,000 is a nice chunk of change if they sell out.
