Universal to get LOTR theme park rights

Is no one thinking that this could be a replacement for run down Marvel Land?

The drop towers would be easy to theme as the two towers for example?

It's just a thought but I think if anything was to go that could be it.

It probably won't be like that but it's just a thought. This then frees up Disney to do something in a 5th park.

As people have said its going to be hard to actually theme areas to the films. Harry Potter is much easier than this.

Which is probably why it will be a 4d attraction :(

Soarin' Over Middle Earth

Honestly, I've been wracking my brains about this for a couple days, and as much as I love LOTR and Middle-Earth, I think this is a horrible IP for an amusement park.

Two Towers? Have you read the books? The titular towers were hundreds of miles apart...

Yes I know but it's not going to be like that in a theme park, even in the Lego game they are close.

To be honest, the ONLY way that they'd do it is if they actually did them close together so people who aren't avid followers would understand the tie-in in a visual impact form.

It's funny, because as soon as the Potter films came out, all the coaster goons were like 'OMG, Broomstick coaster!' 'OMG, Gringotts coaster!' 'OMG, dragon ride!' etc, etc, etc.

LOTR is just.....the heck would they do? A pleasant boat ride through The Shire? Some sort of volcano thing themed to Mt. Doom? I doubt there'd be any coasters, more something along the lines of the Potter ride, just kind of a blend of lots of elements of the film franchise in one attraction, but nothing from the films jumped out for me as a ride possibility.

So in the Trademark they've covered everything from theming rights to the building of a hotel/campgrounds. It's obvious they've got all they can so nobody can use any of it, but still, I wonder who's actually bought it 100%?
