Thought I'd written up a small report for this but apparently not (or it's too late and I'm losing it and have missed it), so have a bit of text and some pictures.
Actual day at Thorpe was ****, mainly because there's not a lot there we actually enjoy enough to bother with, so we only got there about half 1 (6pm close), rode Swarm, Colossus, Inferno and then just chilled around the park waiting for the walk. Colossus was stopped to retrieve someones glasses which was annoying, make them wait until the end of the day.
Anyway, was only the two of us waiting to climb Swarm and after waiting and watching the engineer take a train off via the transfer track and getting harnessed up we were giving the safety talk and then led to the bottom of the lift. It's bloody imposing!
Bit of a challenge to work the safety mechanism on the way up and it's impossible not to look down as you walk up. Sways a bit when up there too. Great views, would be good on a sunny day, our VIP host was really good, friendly and helpful. It is a bit steep at £50 each but you get to see a close up of the lift hill, great aerial views that stretch from Windsor all the way to Heathrow and central London, plus a great perspective of the park and also time inside the control room.
