The future of Time Machine and Freestyle Music Park

Hi!

I have a question about the future of the Freestyle Music Park, shut up since 2008. Which is the future of this park? Could Freestyle Music Park reopen in a future? If in a future don’t open… what will happen with the rides of the park? Can another park buy Time Machine? Is a pity that current status of all of this rides are out of service. I hope I could ride in Time Machine in a future because is my favorite coaster.

Thanks.

I don't think anyone really knows what's happening to be honest, if there was to be another attempt to open the park it's going to need a fair bit of cash put into it because the whole rock & roll theme just didn't really work for them. You're talking about a complete overhaul! And in this climate I don't see anyone really wanting to take a risk to be brutally honest.

As for the B&M coaster, obviously there would be plenty of takers for it if it was available for purchase, but that isn't an option until the fate of the park is decided, nobody in their right minds would invest in the park if its main attraction were to be ripped out.

In a nutshell, yes you will get to ride it again, where? Your guess is as good as mine.

As of now? No, there is no interested party in reopening the park.

As for the rides? They will remain where they are. It would cost millions of dollars to relocate attractions - millions that could be spent on other attractions for parks.

A possible endgame scenario would be a real estate developer buying the land for new development, selling rides for scrap metal, and using the land for another purpose. This is what we saw with the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park in 2007.

I doubt that statement. The rides would more than likely be sold to another park, or even stored and then sold. The chances of them being scraped are absolutely minimal. The value of a second hand B&M goes way into the $millions, the value in scrap (not my specialist area, but)would certainly be less, or we wouldn't still be seeing the trading of Vekoma Boomerangs etc, which still have a value as a ride which must, by all logical reasoning, exceed that of their value in scrap metal form.

The rides, if the park is not re-opening anytime soon, will likely find their way onto used rides websites, and it'll really go from there. The cost of moving a ride is generally less than buying new, so it makes business sense for both the selling and purchasing party.

^ In comparison, Cedar Point approximated the deconstruction and reconstruction of Disaster Transport at just over $2 million, without transport cost consideration.

The rides could certainly be placed on-line for sale, but wouldn't hold my breath on a park ponying up the cash for relocation.

This is all assuming there is interest in the land for development, which at present there is not.

That park isn't coming back. The B&M will get sold somewhere, as will the rollerskater, mine train and maybe a few of the flat rides.

The rest will all get demolished.

Roller coasterdamus predicts:

Kentucky Kingdom to purcahse Time Machine

That mother **** stole my idea and is trying to pass it off as his

Screamscape:

Park News - (8/23/13) I’m just going to throw this out there… and know that I have no proof… and not even a rumor on this. This is all just pure wild speculation on my part… but I’ve got to wonder if Ed Hart is currently kicking the tires of the Time Machine (formerly: Led Zeppelin: The Ride) down at Freestyle Music Park as the new coaster under consideration for Kentucky Kingdom next year. If it happens… you heard it here first.

I'm not sure about that... Thunder Run was pretty great. And while moot at this point... Chang is a better B&M than Time Machine.

What was bad about Time Machine? Rattly? Forceless?

Slow and laggy, mostly after the awful MCBR. The 'helix' into corkscrew into secondary helix ending was amazingly lame. And the first half was rather uneventful outside of maybe the air-hill and zero g roll. I don't know, for a good sized B&M it just felt so pointless? uneventful, lackluster, not sure what to call it..... generic?
And that's based off like, 20 rides over two days. Just didn't care for the ride, or park. The Vekoma mine train was all they really had going for themselves.

I just wish Hard Rock didn't throw in the towel so quick on the park. They really did have a great idea and something good going. Cmon, LED ZEPPELIN, THE RIDE. How cool is that!? Even if your attendance numbers weren't up to par, it was only one year, and you opened in arguably the worst year of this recession.

People travel all around the world and visit Hard Rock locations and get merch just to say "I've been to this Hard Rock in this place". I just feel as if their marketing may have been their downfall. Now I'm not in an area where HRP's marketing would be the heaviest (I'm in Michigan) but I still see a Universal commercial now and then. I have never, ever, met a GP person who has even heard of a "Hard Rock theme park". If they had marketed a lot heavier, and given it a few years for the word to get around, I think Hard Rock could have been a booming tourist destination on par with Universal.

But nevertheless, this is just me crying here about something I can't fix and something that won't change.

Time Machine, albeit B&M's probably least inspired ride, will surely find a good, loving home somewhere else. I like the sound of KK but I'm sure there are lots of other suitable places for it as well.
