The Big Sheep | Big One | Zierer Tivoli

Basically, this place called "The BIG Sheep" in Devon is going to be installing the old Zierer cred from Metroland.

The Zierer-built 'New Roller Coaster', which operated for 20 years at the Metroland indoor amusement park at the Metro Centre, Gateshead, until the park closed in 2008, will be rebuilt at Devon's popular visitor attraction The BIG Sheep following the granting of planning permission by North Devon District Council. The roller coaster, as yet unnamed, will be Devon's tallest, and will be the latest ride to be added to this rapidly expanding adventure park. The BIG Sheep's owner, Rick Turner, said it was expensive to remove from Metroland: "We had to remove the whole side of the centre to remove the columns and track." No opening date has been announced.

I liked that ride. It was fun when the **** in the tunnel actually worked and you had a full train.

Yay, more of an excuse to go back down there to scoop up the remaining creds! Definitely thinking Easter next year if it's ready :)

I quite liked it at Metroland actually.

Used to go to this place every year when my grandpa was alive! Might have to pop back at some point now.

Googled this The Big Sheep place - it sounds amazing!

There's a brewery, a pub, sheep racing, those bouncy things they have in Denmark, duck trials and now a CRED!

Yeah, this sounds like the sort of place I'd like to visit. Once the CRED is in place, I'll get planning.

Either way this is quite an interesting place, wish I had my passport!

Yeah, as a child I would bet 50p on a sheep (of which had little knitted jockeys on their back) and if you won you got a badge. I have many of said badges in my drawer. I wonder if it's all still the same.

If I remember rightly they also had a sheep dog who would do his stuff, but with ducks. Ahhh good memories!

This place is only like 7 miles from Milky Way, so well worth the trip if you don't have those creds yet. I might be persuaded to pop down there next year if anyone's up for it.

I know it was originally raised up, but isn't this just a tivoli?

Yeah, but it's quite huge. It's got 2 lift hills and sort of went around the whole park:

It was very custom built for the indoor park, so the shape of the layout (plus the fact that a lot of it was elevated) might make it look a bit weird if it just gets dumped in a field somewhere.

Eugh! apparently 2013-holiday-of-family_furie is in Devon next year. Not because of this, but because of some pig cuddling farm near Torbay.

However, I'm desperate to get back to the Milky Way and The Big Sheep sounds fab too. Hurrah! :) Though no new creds for me :(

^ Yes, but Tivoli coasters do have a high dose of vibrating bottomness.

The coaster has been purchased but it's coming down piece by piece!

They don't reckon it'll be ready until Winter this year or very early 2014.
